Prince's people looking at venue in Newcastle upon Tyne

Not one to spread rumours but I am reliably informed that from a friend that there has been some interest from Prince's people in the Hoult's Yard venue in the east end of Newcastle. Anyone know any more?

Never been to a gig there but pretty arty part of the city.

I am sure this could be all speculation.........

Live life and be happy

you know the chances of this happening have went from slim to none by posting it on the org

I live in Newcastle and have heard the rumour but can't honestly say it has ever had the ring of truth for me. I could see him playing at the Sage, but Hoults Yard seems very far fetched. I would dearly love to be wrong though!

It's alrteady been reported that he was considering a small venue UK tour, I don't think that is any big secret. It's also totally unconfirmed and we know Prince has a lot of ideas he never actually does anything with. So just wait and see.

Unique, u & I know that if Prince ever graced the Barras with his presence, people would b talking about it for years 2 come, 4 it cud quite possibly b thee best Prince show in the world... like EVER. Folks from all over the world wud b like "Soooo, u guys were actually there?! How awesome!!" & we'd b like "Aye- front row, gettin' kicked in the heid the lot'" ha ha

And the thing is, we both know how unforgettable something like that cud b. And I know U've joked previously about him getting hit wi pints o' Tennents & aw that, but that just would NEVER happen, cuz the few lucky 1900 so & so's who made it in2 the hallowed place wud gladly lick his boots clean of sweat & whatever else accumulates on a stage! Ain't no word of a lie. I'd probably go in2 a funk rock induced coma if it ever happened & never b the same again! lol

I'd be delighted. I would be happy with anywhere in the UK, but I'm from the North so this would be quite a special gig if it happened.

In Brighton, where I live now, we have a club called the Concorde II, and every time I go there I imagine how amazing that would be. It's exactly the type of aftershow-ish venue he's played in other cities and Brighton is a real party town. I always think, I'm sure if Prince's people knew about this venue they'd book it for him.

....with an aftershow in King Tut's!

I am terrified at the thought of how much I'd be willing to pay for that!

I live less than five minutes away from Concorde 2 and it's a fantastic place to see bands (it deservedly won the 'Best Small Venue' award a couple of years back). It would be amazing if Prince ever decided to play there but I don't hold out any real hope of it actually ever happening.

i was at the garage, one of his best aftershows ever. the version of the ryde is probably his best

and after the garage prince took a few fans to the deap sea for chips. i was lucky to get a smoked sausage supper. prince had a white pudding supper with brown sauce and mayte had a deep fried pizza and chips and a bottle of irn bru. then they recorded the good life big city remix, the original version featured lyrics about the broons and oor wullie

stood outside the garage for ages that night before a girlfriend induced decision to depart. Regretted it ever since....relationship ended soon after and I can't say this didn't have a large bearing on events! wink

I've always been a bit jinxed when it comes to aftershows but that's another story / stories....
