The Return of the Prince

Only Italian concert in Verona for the pop star who arrives in the Veneto region for the first time. Concert July 29 at the Arena

"There are many kings. King Henry VIII, King Solomon, King Tut, King James, King Kong and the three kings. But there is only a "Prince". " So Alicia Keys had introduced in 2004 when Prince has joined the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He really was the "prince" of the charts worldwide in the eighties and nineties, and abjuration from the "title of nobility" that embodied game one showbiz excessive force, and even replace the name with a symbol. However, for all those who love him, "the elf Minneapolis" will always and only Prince. But any way you like to call the artist of "Purple Rain" will be at the Arena di Verona 29 July for what promises to be the only national date of 2013.

Prince is one of the musicians who has sold more in the world, there are over one hundred million records, and certainly the most important innovator in the music of the eighties (but not only) by inventing a music made ??of funk, soul and pop highly electrical . If there is a year around which you can determine the success of Prince Roger Nelson, this is the first name, it's happened in 1984 when the "miracle" of "Purple Rain," the sixth studio album by the innovator of black music. "Purple Rain" (currently over 13 million records in the U.S. only) at the same time reach the first position in the singles charts, the album and the film (which won the Academy Award for Best Original Score). The success was so enormous that the United States remains for twenty-four consecutive weeks at the top of the charts at the same time the movie earning more than eighty million dollars. The successes are added to the desire for independence and autonomy in managing their music, but Prince is faced with a big problem: it is not the owner of the master of his recordings of the period at Warner Bros and, even worse, his first name is Prince was not until the end of 1999 a registered trademark and the property of Warner Bros. is why it is with "Love Symbol" of the 1993 begins to use a symbol that will identify that should be read with "The Artist Formerly Known As Prince (or TAFKAP ) "and then simply as The Artist.

Among the many legends around the production of Prince is also to a large production unpublished named by fans "The Vault" safe. Vegetarian and belonging to the Jehovah's Witnesses, Prince remain memorable too many "pranks" as the sudden cancellation of Italian dates of Turin and Udine in 1990 (for which he was sentenced to a compensation of nearly a billion dollars), or recent rapid and listless performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, followed by a long night concert in a pub in the area. The artist will come to Verona on July 29 after he returned (including album deleted, others only went in mp3 and others just announced) last year to the radio with the single "Rock'n'roll love affair ', followed by another Send "Screwdriver", which approximates the classic rock of the early years. The two songs should be part of a new work of "elf Minneapolis," it is not known whether it will be an EP or an album itself.

LUCCA, February 17, 2013 - For many years the artistic director Mimmo D'Alessandro is trying to bring the Summer the genius of Minneapolis, but this time the odds are really high. D'Alessandro, on his return from the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, seemed optimistic, despite competition from other events: the American artist, for his part, has repeatedly assured, sooner or later, to indulge the wishes of those i want to strongly among the protagonists of a festival than stellar. Brilliant, prolific, whimsical, great musician and guitarist, Roger Nelson aka Prince is certainly very fickle, but all, on this occasion, seems to turn in the right direction. But it is not the only change possible to enrich the festival program: The "boss" has promised at least another couple of possible surprises, yet strictly top-secret. The only reliable information about Claudio Baglioni: the Roman artist is in fact deciding whether to take his tour in the summer or in the autumn, following the release of her new album. If you check the first hypothesis, Baglioni will start your tour in the Summer.

Does this mean Prince paid all royalties owed to Bergonzi and Vicino?
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

Doc FB mentioned in the last Spreecast that there were negotiations ongoing to play a festival in Italy. From the 2 news reports above, even though Verona is not a festival it looks like a done deal, and it is a spectacular venue. I would be surprised if he played both dates, Italy is not an overly popular market for Prince.

Summer Festival in Lucca is run by one the biggest tour promoters in Italy, D'Alessandri e Galli. They've tried to get Prince previously, but no cigar. The most recent attempt was in 2011, when Amy Whinehouse planned appearance at the festival was hastily cancelled after the notorious performance in Belgrade, leaving a hole to fill in the schedule at real short notice maybe 2 weeks max, if I recall correctly.

Umbria Jazz had exclusivity as the only Italian Prince concert except for a clause rescinding exclusivity when 7500 tickets were sold in pre-sales. D&E tried to lean on Umbria Jazz to reduce it to 6000. The situation then turned into Handbags at 10 paces, with sour grapes from D&E petulantly calling into question the integrity of Umbria Jazz and genrally bagging their festival because they didn't get their way.

BTW Umbria Jazz 2011 performance was along with NSJ one of the best concerts on that tour, over 3hrs 15mins and 2 hours straight with Prince on guitar. That was my last Prince show, I don't think I'll make it to any Italian date in 2013, I'm lucky enough to be slipping over the border for 3 nights in Montreux. bananadance

We know he's in Europe at least from 12 July to 7 August with plenty of free dates in between......Good times for Prince fans.

Prince is a musician not a lifestyle.

A unique venue which would be fabulous. I was lucky enough to see Carmen there last summer. Even though I had never seen an opera before it was fantastic. The performance took place under the moonlight. Just magical. My daughtersaid it was the best view of the sky she had ever seen and I knew just what she meant. Seeing Prince there would be amazing. Anyone who has the chance to go should definitely take it. Also don't think there is a curfew for P to be concerned with. We entered the arena at 7pm, performance started at 9pm but we didn't leave till 1am when Carmen finally bit the dust. Very jealous of anyone who can get there. Also have to say how beautiful that area is. We stayed at Lake Garda. Beautiful.

This article mentions july 27th instead of 29th 4 the Verona concert:

arrow http://2night.it/2013/02/...certo.html

If everything is confirmed will be a summer of history, if only for lovers of fabulous eighties. Will arrive in the beautiful, in fact, one of the most famous era Prince. The rumors speak of two concerts, but could be even longer.

It seems to be pretty much confirmed that the artist will be performing at the Arena di Verona 27 July. The Lucca Summer Festival, however, could be the game host and Prince, for a run on tickets that could be "flash". Despite the passage of many years from the apex of his career, the artist to the stars and stripes wanted to return to the scene and the end of 2012 he released the single "Rock'n'roll love affair".

In January, then, surprisingly, was thrown to the fans a new song, "Screwdriver", accompanied by a video for purchase on the home page of its official website, 20pr1nc3.com.

We await the official announcement of the dates for more details.

It will be hard to have GOOD tickets. The Arena is quite big, I've been there 3 times (Radiohead, Bjork and Massive Attack) and I'm not sure it will be sold-out in few days. Expecially if we'll be so lucky to have 2 dates in Italy

Can I dream about front row...?

I'd probably have to go living there from now to July the 29th lol

Are there numbered seats (seats??) or it's like... who comes first is first served?

2 dates would be great. But who knows where and when... If Verona is confirmed, I'll buy 1, and then we'll see. It's not excessively far for me, even if I prefer smaller venues.

Oh well, I guess I'll just leave it to fate (and check the web everyday hoping to get tickets as soon as they put them on sale)

Somebody told me that concerts at the Verona Arena often have numbered seats/tickets. No idea if this will happen with a possible Prince concert but that WILL make the ticket experience much different if so...

Normally concerts at the Verona Arena have 3 different kind of tickets: 1) numbered seats on the floor (more expensive); 2) numbered seats on the first ring (middle price); 3) general admission on the second floor (less expensive)...The problem is that I'm expecting quite high prices also for the second ring...let's see.
