(please do not lock this, as i am not giving/asking for any information about the festival. Just asking peoples opinions)

Hello! so i graduate from Highschool this year, and am thinking about asking my parents for tickets to all 3 nights at the montreux jazz festival. The thing is though, i live in Mississippi, i know my parents would most likely bring me, being big prince fans themselves, but would it be better for me to wait and hope he does some shows in the states this year, or should i bite the bullet and go to Montreux, this would be my first time seeing P.

If you are serious, get to working on it now. Get a passport, add up all the expenses,travel cost and hotel stay and go for it, it would be a wonderful life experience either way. Kick that ball and ask them, time's a wasting. If you want your parents to spend that much money, graduate in the top 5% of your class to show them you are worth it.

I agree with the first two responses. If you can afford it and your parents allow you to go, then do it. You never know what Prince may do when touring. I'm from Mississippi, and I've seen Prince over sixty times. However, it was seventeen years between my first time and second time seeing him live in Mississippi so I traveled across the US, mostly throughout the South, to see him live. So, go for it if you can.

If your family is well off enough that you can ask them for a trip to Europe plus pricey concert tickets as a graduation present, without any fear that you might need that money for food, shelter etc, then, hells yes. I wish I could go to the Montreaux Jazz Fest!

Make sure they also buy you tickets to some other shows as long as you're in town. The lineup is usually pretty amazing.

If money is a concern then you might get better bang for the buck waiting for some US dates to be announced, where you could invest in the best seats, maybe in a city you've always wanted to visit.

Better decide fast though, I THINK tickets are onsale now for 395 kroner, but you evidently need to speak French to navigate the ticket page. So I don't know if they're sold out or what kind of seats are available. I poked around their ticket page just for curiosity.

That would be in Denmark, For the jazz fest It will probably be Swiss Francs.

I would only see Prince once, and then use the time and money to check out other acts. Or as suggested, travel a bit around Europe. Paris is nice, Munich, Prague, London ...

If you looked at something quoting the Kroner, then this is the Danish festival also taking place in the summer. Looks like a small place, not really worth the while from my point of view if this is your first trip to Europe.
