We all friends with P again?

The man and his team really couldn't have done much more last night with what looks like 2 stunning performances + giving out tix to tonights gig to the HOB crowd was also a nice touch. Also the fact that he apologised on stage a few times last night counts for a lot.

We, including myself are very quick to criticise so lets be as quick to say thanks and give the man some props.

Sure. As I said, the first night of the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam was exactly the same. And he made up for it the following nights. No one can be perfect all the time.

Everyone's writing positively and the free tickets is the best gesture. Apologies always help and yeah, we're all friends again. cool

This was a learning experience for me. I will never - and I mean never - attend an opening night show again - presale be damned.

I will never pay for VIP at the Chicago House of Blues again. You pay twice as much for worse positioning. They have one hell of a nerve.

That second one is not Prince's fault, of course. I'm just sayin'.

But, yeah - despite the fact that I had to turn down a ticket for tonight because I have to be at work tomorrow, I'm going home happy. And if he plays Minneapolis, I may make my way up there.

I was never an enemy. LOL However, I knew that Monday night's show was not his best. I was cool with it overall but I wanted the people who had never seen him before to see what he's truly about. I felt bad that one friend in particular who is a HUGE MJ fan, was not all that happy with the show and stated that he was still number 2 behind MJ. sad Anyway, NO ONE could complain about last night unless they are NUTS. PRINCE IS THE BEST!

your comment on first night is an interesting one. When I look at the opening night on several W2 shows the opening night has been epic i.e. long main show and a great aftershow which has acted like an advert for following shows that help to shift more tix. I guess it's a gamble on 1st nights - do you get a show with lots of glitches or do you get P giving his all in order to shift more tix through great opening night reviews.

I suspect it was a learning experience for him, too.

I think I'm still upset. I dragged my brother from Boston for the show on Monday and paid for VIP tix to the House of Blues. I felt like the show was really short, the sound wasn't great and then he never played at HOB. He'll never do an after show in Boston because everything closes at 2:00. I came all the way to Chicago for a chance to see him in a small venue. I spent a lot of money I didn't really have and left feeling let down. I love Prince and that hasn't changed but right now I just feel disapointed. I am happy for everyone who saw him Tuesday that at least they got a great show. That makes me feel a little better.

Oh please, it isn't about perfection. It's about not ripping people off (and then later blaming it on one of your employees).

I'm so bummed. bawl sigh I knew he'd make up for Monday's subpar show with a spectacular show on Tuesday. I just wish I could have been there for it. doh! shrug Then again, even the best performers and best sports players have off nights here and there, and I just happended to catch one of them. Oh well. I still have seen enough amazing shows to still recommend everyone go to see him if they can. I've seen amazing shows where he plays his greatest hits, and I've seen some even more amazing shows where he plays stuff from his catalog of songs which I barely knew beforehand. For those who saw him last night, I hope they really had a good time. And even one of Prince's subpar shows probably rank better than about 85% of most other artists' best shows.

Well Bart, he gave the attendees a chance to attend Wednesday's show for free; though not all could make it, it's the best he could do. We don't know who published the sound guy's name and but I don't think it was employee.

I think the 300 level tickets couldn't sell for Wednesday night. Win/ Win for Prince to give away the tickets to disgruntled fans and CPS teachers. Makes him look good as if making an effort to do good AND the venue looks fuller. Easy way out.....

Bottom line is my out of town friends and I got screwed over on both Monday's UC concert AND HOB show. I saw Lenny Kravitz earlier this year, and when you compare the effort put into his show vs. Prince, I know I will NEVER spend a dime on another Prince show again. Seen too many of his past shows to know the ride is definitely over. His loss.....

I am first and foremost a Christian, so I forgive Prince of course! Forgiveness is one thing, RESPECT is another. I have seen what Prince can deliver.

Let's not forget that the Chicago shows were done in conjunction with the Rebuild The Dream charity. To commit to do these performances for a Charity, then deliver not just sub par for Prince, but sub par for any high profile performer of his caliber has done an injustice to the charity he was representing. I have seen U2, Springsteen, Stones, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith and none of them have done what I saw Monday night.

Prince was performing at iHeart the night before in Vegas. If he committed to the Chicago concerts to help raise funds and awareness for the Rebuild a Dream foundation, that should have been the priority to be on spot. If he messes up for himself, that's one thing....but to represent for a Charity and deliver like that is not right. Prince reads Scripture....he knows what's up. If he had any conscience about any of this, then everyone that bought HOB tickets on Monday night should have been fully refunded because of his decision to not play. Maybe he had a good reason? Fine, but consider the show canceled and refunded.

Chicago Sun-Times quotes Julie Mestlin, the concert promoter of LiveNation (that owns HOB) as saying "Prince will be playing 'The Official Purple After Jam'. Can anyone say "Class Action Lawsuit"?

i was never an enemy in the first place but it is clear from watching the show on Mon he has lost his edge and is no longer the legend performer he used to be. people in the org who live in chicago and had the opportunity to be around to attend subsequent shows may feel good - but i doubt the 15-20k people at UC on Monday night would be rushing back to see him again

didn't he hit back hard on Tuesday though [both shows] and killed it?..although sounds like his voice paid the price on Wednesday !. I am sure that the bad publicity on TV and press knocked him hard and really should ensure he nevre has sound issues again.
