When will people learn. Prince don't give a fuck about you. He tours using the cheapest means possible to ensure maximum profit for him. Threadbare stages, shit lighting, shit sound, shit logistics, shit planning and management.

He ain't gonna change, he is way too up his own arse now.

If he had any ounce of decency left he would drop the sampler set, or stop mouthing off "real music..." bollocks every other fucking day. Blames others for the sound issues etc but he is the one in control, he has told us that enough times. As for being in two places at once so he could mix the house sound. Please. I still have nightmares over his sound mixing attempts on the 1995 tour.

That should be the name of this site. lol

I completely agree with you....an absolute disgrace to diss the guy in public with name as there is noone else but Prince to blame but hey, it is never his fault.

He never learns about his mistakes. In Cologne he blamed the sound man, but nothing was said about the fact that he entered the venue very late so he didnt had the time to get things in order. About the curfew....he had the same problems in Cannes and in Minneapolis before. Also an exemple of no communication on fore hand.

But despite this all....a Prince concert is never dull and there is always a story. But

hopefully he will give you all something extra 2 nite...Fingers crossed....

A complete classless, dick move to post the sound guy's name and picture on Funkenberry's site.

Glad it was taken down, good move Doc, but it speaks to the level of cluelessness Prince and his people exist in.

How many "sound problems" has Prince had the last few years because of his cheap assing and laziness? This is EXACTLY why I won't travel to see the dude anymore. If he comes to Detroit I'm there as that is home. But spending money to travel? Those days are long gone.

It seems he had no soundcheck in Chi either. He got on stage and he began with his rehearsal jams...soundchecking...and blaming sound guy...sound familiar? All his sound problems are there cause he is not there when NPG does soundcheck.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

Where was it listed (other than her facebook) that it would be a Allo Showcase? I mean, I knew beforehand that there was a possibility that Prince wouldn't play but out of the 30 people I talked to NO ONE knew who Allo was or that she was even going to be showcased. Nowhere on their tickets did it state that. Also, I was on the rail and there were indeed plainclothes policemen with badges on the floor. I saw about 5 of them. They did not shut the show down but the venue however does close at 4am. So, I just chalk it up to a minor loss. Hopefully tonight's show and aftershow goes smoothly.

But AA stated it was police that shut down. So she lied?

I wasn't there so I can't speak to the police-shut-down drama. However, I can vouch for the fact that it was never advertised as an Andy Allo showcase. I think we forget on the Org that the rest of the world is not privy to the Facebook postings of everyone associated with Prince. They are relying on mainstream media for their news.

Sunday night was the only night advertised for Andy Allo, and it was her listening party. The Purple Jam aftershows were promoted with the language, "Prince will be playing three aftershows at the HOB." AlexandraNevermind posted this link in another thread http://www.suntimes.com/e...blues.html.

So you see, when people come to what they are thinking is one of Prince's legendary aftershows and they wait until 3 a.m. (showtime was at 12 midnight) and end up seeing a 30 min. set from a woman they know nothing about performing songs they have never heard, you can understand the outrage.

Yeah I can see the outrage too well. The puppet AA that Prince holds the strings of is already a nuisance in itself and a waste of NPG talent. Not only do I feel sorry for Prince fans that are being mislead but meanwhile also for good musicians...I hope I didn't go off topic now!

summary of last night...what I heard from the crowd...

"we want Prince!!"

"Please just one song Prince!!"

"refund! refund! refund!"

I can't say I was expecting to watch only Andy's performance for the whole event. Especially after 2 and a half hours of waiting...but I don't understand why some ppl had to boo @ Andy sad I was at the balcony seat and even I heard what some people had to say while she was performing...That's just not nice, I felt bad for her and I hope she didn't hear any of it. This was supposed to be her debut moment, she was performing the songs for the first time...And it's not Andy's fault that Prince didn't perform. Imo Andy did a great job last night.

Overall though, personally, I had fun. It was my first after-show experience and yes I was disappointed Prince didn't perform. Well, although, if you count Prince teasing the crowd by peeking through the curtains few times as a performance lol. But really, I reached the point where I was like "looks like Andy's gonna perform all her songs...you know what, I might as well try to have fun with it." and I did. Can't wait for tonight's show biggrin

What does she/you expect at 3 a.m.? And after that encore fiasco. On a Monday night Tuesday morning. The audience does not live on {rince time or the Prince world of getting up at maybe 3 in the afternoon, limos to the venue, food spread etc. As I stated before, seeing Prince and company shouldnt really be a chore. Not in 2012. If Prince wanted Andys debut etc to be welcomed more openly than things should have been set up differently.

House of Blues left a lot to be desired.

If you payed for VIP (like me) you're in for a treat because unless you have a reserved seat (additional 600 dollars according to HOB staff) your view on the balcony is shit compared to the floor.

Doors opened at 10:00 but the main show didn't wrap up until around midnight, the afterjam didn't start until 3:00 am. By that time I had been standing for 3 hours. When Prince peaked his head out at 2:30 I thought it was all going to be worth it.

Wrong.

Andy finally opened and of course their were sound issues. Honestly I didn't mind her, but I didn't pay $160 dollars to hear her play 4-5 songs and Prince say they're out, the police shut it down. Of course I'd enjoy a refund, especially because I payed for VIP and ended up standing with general admission. But I KNOW that's not gonna fucking happen, so whatever.

This was my first afterjam/show/party experience and it was one of the worst variations I could have imagined.

I hope the rest of the nights do better, christ.

That would be cool, but missing out on some of that magic stings my friend. I'm a college student who broke the bank (depleted all my savings) for a mainshow that was very anticlimactic, and a 30 minute Allo set. And when this is your first Prince live experience...ya feel me? lol

i guess now some of y'all mf's will be a little more forgiving to bria for refusing to perform live in prince's somewhat wonky 3 ring circus.

but then, she was a bit older, wasn't she? how old is andy? 17?

my interest in her album peaked at the 19th. which was when i figured i'd be able to visit her own

website, sample the songs and buy the album online/download it.

didn't happen. thus reminding me of all the prince related web-fucks. thus made me say 'ok, so i

won't bother with this anymore'.

she's hitched her wagon to his train and it's already going off the tracks before the album is out

and basically before she even gets to perform cuz when she did take the stage, people had been

turned against her (despite themselves and despite her) already due to another clusterfuck on the

part of prince. oh, sorry, prince's personell and the chicago officials.

what i'm curious about tho is, who are these soundmen? and who do they work for? are they his

own soundmen? does he hire them? or well, does someone hire them for him and does he work

with such a guy for multiple shows?

or do venues offer you a soundcrew when you play there and does prince just use those?

i don't understand. at all.

i mean, if they're his own personell. then why is there such a problem and why is there any need

to vent it publicly? a soundman might fuck something up like once or twice, but if you work with

him all the time, he should know the ropes, right?

so perhaps they should just do a better/longer soundcheck? or have a sit down and work out a

few of the problems?

isn't that what other artists do?

anyway, whatever it is. still no reason to post someone's picture and name whilst pointing the

finger at him, to put dozens of disgruntled people off your own scent. not very classy.

That's harsh criticism coming from someone who is usually pretty positive about P. But, that's what being an objective fan is about--putting constructive criticism forward where it is due...

I'd definitely like to experience Prince live again. I've been telling people that I had simultaenously the time of my life, and the worst live/aftershow experience I could have imagined, but at the end of the day there were some really great moments. I think the few great moments accompanied by the not-so-great moments, is just all part of the package of being a Prince fan at this point in his career. Thanks for the uplift. wink

Dayum! lol

Well Genesia here's what I can tell you, and I hope things pan out better tonight for you.

I arrived at the House of Blues and a gentleman asked me if I was general or VIP. I told him VIP (I bought the tickets online) and he directed me to a podium.

I was then given a VIP bracelet and told I could go up to the balconies and the foundation lounge, but the foundation lounge doesn't view the stage at all.

I start walking up to the stairs to the VIP section thinking I'm going to have a bomb ass view of the stage. Nope! In order to get that bomb ass view you have to pay an additional $600! I found this out when I started walking to one of the boxes and got stopped by security.

I was however more than welcome to stand in the VIP sections on the 2nd and 3rd balconies but unless you're in the $600 dollar chairs you really can't see the stage, definitely not as good as the people with general admission who (if you got there early enough) were standing a foot away from the stage.

Like I said I don't know how things are going to work out tonight but that's what happened to me. VIP was definitely a rip off.

Though I guess one group of patrons got lucky. Prince did make a cameo in one of the 600 dollar boxes and peaked over the balcony.

It really is a damned shame that your first Prince concert ended up that way... When he is "on" he is on... Hopefully, for concert-goers tonight, he will pull out all the stops and show what he can still do... I have the feeling that his pitstop in Vegas was a major misstep and he should've known better, being the perfectionist that he is... No excuses for P though--he ain't new to this game...

It's been said it's the soundman of Prince (said by P himself) , but then the same soundman was at other shows on various nights with same problems. The truth is tho, he does not do soundchecks, he comes late on stage to do sound check hoping it'll work, then if he is lucky it goes fine, if not he's pissed off and just says it's not his problem, and does shorter gigs.

My observations!

Prince I will always miss and love U.

so it's a power game between prince and his soundman? lol i'm sure the guy is pretty nervous

and would LOVE to do a fcking great job. but if you can't have a soundcheck with prince on the

stage, how are you gonna manage to get through the show without glitches? are there people in

the game who can pull that off? if not, prince shouldn't be mad at the guy but reflect on why the

same thing has been happening more often and actually spend more time at soundcheck.

fans who come to see the show don't care one way or the other if the soundman and prince are

locked in some weird mindwarp battle because prince feels he doesn't have to do soundchecks

all the time since the soundguy should just know what to do.

people who buy a ticket just want to enjoy a nice show, without such tedious problems ruining it

for them.

for prince it's just another night in a long string of gigs. for a lot of people attending it's a special

night where they get to see prince again for the first time in a long while.

Prince did make a cameo in one of the 600 dollar boxes and peaked over the balcony.

summary of last night...what I heard from the crowd...

The only disappointing thing was P not performing, really. I didn't mind the wait too much I actually sort of lost track of time lol. And I was definitely ready to stay up all night. I agree he could've put more thoughts into the setup of course. And yeah...when PPl shouted "I fucking drove from Minnesota and I get this? WTF!!"..I was just quite. But well, at least we know for sure tonight's going to be a better show with lots of lots of Prince biggrin

My observations!

so it's a power game between prince and his soundman? lol i'm sure the guy is pretty nervous

and would LOVE to do a fcking great job. but if you can't have a soundcheck with prince on the

stage, how are you gonna manage to get through the show without glitches? are there people in

the game who can pull that off? if not, prince shouldn't be mad at the guy but reflect on why the

same thing has been happening more often and actually spend more time at soundcheck.

fans who come to see the show don't care one way or the other if the soundman and prince are

locked in some weird mindwarp battle because prince feels he doesn't have to do soundchecks

all the time since the soundguy should just know what to do.

people who buy a ticket just want to enjoy a nice show, without such tedious problems ruining it

for them.

for prince it's just another night in a long string of gigs. for a lot of people attending it's a special

night where they get to see prince again for the first time in a long while.

hmmmmmmmmm yes and blaming the soundman for the fuckery, cause Prince can't be bothered to spend some time doing proper soundcheck. His time is too precious! The reason why everybody else has to wait additional 2 hours 4 admission, cause he is still doing soundcheck, cause he arrived late or he's fixing soudn problems that occurred last minute. lol

Prince I will always miss and love U.

So you paid twice as much for worse accommodations. If that happens tonight, someone will feel the wrath of Genesia.

Personnel changes were made after the concert hence the long delay after the show. (Equipment was set up very late at the House Of Blues Afterjam because of this. Andy Allo took the stage at 3 a.m. and the police were shutting down the venue around 3:30 before Prince & The NPG could perform.) Everyone could tell Prince & The NPG were ready to give 150%, They are feverishly working on Prince's clone as well to give 150%.

lol Can't blame you for that one! Hopefully, the second show will be much better as was my experience last year for the regular concerts...

Come on he did issue an apology. I doubt any of this was done on purpose. Do you really think he promoted these shows and brought all his gear and people to Chicago to have a logistic and sound problem on purpose?

I do think that he needs to rethink the whole aftershow concept. If the logistics are hard it would be best not to do these shows.
