Any reason for the one show at a time thing? Just curious if anyone knows what the reason is for the "trickle" approach to the Chicago shows? I thought in NYC, LA and Charlotte that there were a specific number of dates scheduled over a period of time and not this one show at a time thing like this. I guess I am waiting for a weekend show as that woudl make traveling and planning a lot easier. Maybe the United Center has other commitiments so I am not really complaining but just trying to figure out what the over all plan is and how long it is anticipated that this Chicago "residency" will go on. Any info if he is planning to be there a week, two, etc?

Probably just to make sure shows sell out before they plan new ones... Concerts cost money ya know?? All that bathing in purple rain just can't be good for your health...

I can only speak for the Los Angeles gigs-- no, they weren't announced ahead of time. There was vague understanding that it was a "21 nite stand" but that turned out to be false. Otherwise, shows were announced in 2 or 3 show chunks, usually five to seven days in advance.
Looking at the United Center's schedule, weekends in October are booked-- so unless he jumps around (which he did a little in L.A., but only on weeknights and at a super cost) you might want to snag a ticket for the 26th while you can, 'cause nothing is guaranteed.

School is still out with teachers on strike. One day at a time usually works best.

Thanks so much for the clarification, especially regarding the LA shows. You are correct that I thought it was this whole "21 Night" announcement thing with dates set way in advance in LA. Well alrighty then, looks like a change in plans. Thanks again fellow orgers!!

Same in Oakland. He announced two and then slipped in a third about two days before it happened. I wonder if, in part, it is that he knows he can get the venues cheaper that way. And, of course, he wants to test the sales. Planning is not possible, beyond planning to be available. Philmoreliz

Duh. Uncertainties. Hits, more hits and even then he's got hits. Price/performance ratio. Crisis. Ben printing and stimulating his ass off. The empire's demise. Oil sales in Yuans.
Those types of things sit in the way of announcing simply 7 shows or even more at one time in that venue at this time. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
