Event Details

Prince, one of the most prolific and groundbreaking artists of our time, announces his return to Chicago, at the United Center beginning September 24th and his support of Rebuild the Dream. Rebuild the Dream, founded by Van Jones, is a mobilization of hundreds of thousands of everyday people—from seniors to students, moms, dads, brothers and sisters—who come
together to build strong vibrant communities and to fix our economy from the ground up.

On site at the United Center, Prince and Rebuild the Dream will offer opportunities to learn
about, support, and take part in rebuilding vibrant and sustainable communities. Socially-conscious
businesses, tech start-ups, entrepreneurs, and other innovators will offer specific tools that individuals
and communities can use to improve their economic situation in the short- as well as long-term.
The collaboration is part of ongoing efforts of Rebuild the Dream to engage artists and the creative
community in telling the stories of real people affected by our broken economy and lifting up new,
innovative solutions to rebuild our communities and create a better and fairer economic future.

“We couldn’t be more excited about partnering with a legend like Prince,” said Van Jones, Co-founder
and President of Rebuild the Dream. “Our economic system is broken. Rebuild the Dream exists to unite
arts and organize into a potent force to support the Dreams of Our Communities. There are few artists
who have Prince’s unwavering commitment to a vision of a sustainable, fair economic future.”

Rebuild the Dream is a platform for bottom-up, people-powered innovations to help fix the economy
not just here in the U.S. but Globally as well. Using 21st-century digital technology, we advance highly
inventive solutions that are designed to protect and expand our communities, while creating pathways
to prosperity for those who are locked out of it. Our goal is to put People back to work—and pull our
communities back together. For additional information visit RebuildTheDream.com.

The upcoming Chicago dates will mark Prince first return to the area since 2004.
With Prince's Welcome 2 America New York show, Rolling Stone said, “He had the crowd panting
as soon as he hit the stage…It was unbelievably great. Do you go to a Prince show for predictable
consistency? Ah, no. You go for moments of divinely inspired madness — and last night, he delivered as
many of those as a fan could expect.”

The New York Daily News raved, “Prince worthy of all royal accolades…The hit-friendly show had a
kinetic confidence and racing pace that spoke of his singular place in pop history,” while the New York
Times said “It’s easy to envision Prince as another Chuck Berry or James Brown, barnstorming for
decades to come.”

I am serious wink

you will have to arrange ground transportation anyway i guess (car rental), so saving on flights will be the best option, as long as you don't have to drive 100s of miles to get in the city in the end.

you'r welcome.

Did you miss the O2 shows? Looks to me the show is still the same as it was back then. Great show, but i wouldn't cross the ocean for it.

On the other hand, as an excuse to go and visit the windy city.... smile

I caught 5 or 6 O2 shows but I have 2 weeks off work starting the 24th and was thinking about going away somewhere anyway.

All the shows are getting pretty gemeric now but I'd love to catch an aftershow smile

Why do orgers come on a thread like this just to poop on everyone's happiness and enthusiasm and plans for an upcoming concert?

It's OK to have contrary opinions about the man - lively discussions and counterpoint are good. But there are enough threads in the PMM or even Assoc Artists forum for that. There are even specific threads in PMM now to vent about his awful touring band and his awful tours/concerts for the past years.

Why do you have to come in here where people are talking about an actual concert coming up in a few days, for which people are buying tickets and excited - and poop on them? It's like, "Oh here are all the suckers and idiots who are going to see his inevitably awful show; let's jump in here and rub it in their faces!"

Again, I'm not saying their p.o.v. is invalid or not allowed - I'm saying it's not good etiquette to come smash on people's fun on this thread.

How fucking dare a classic artist play his most popular songs in an arena show!

Nobody wants to hear him play Purple Rain for the 10,000 time!

Just like people who go see Springsteen don't wanna hear him play Born to Run for the 20,000th time.

We don't wanna hear Stevie Wonder playing Superstition for the 30,000th time.

And we damn sure don't wanna hear The Rolling Stones play Satisfaction for the 100,000th time.

That's why those artists stop playing those songs a over a decade ago!

The large crowds only wanna hear obscure shit that nobody knows or new songs from an album that most of them didn't buy!

If they do play these songs that aren't in any way beloved or that particular artist is known for, they're just being lazy bastards that only care about money!

ur funny however is it the artists fault that they wanna grow and the fanbase wants 2 keep them in a small box and get mad that the creative flow wants 2 burst out? hey i got an idea, everybody should just read stephen king's first novel only and let's all just listen to for you only! how about let's hear the songs from a 24-26 year old artist instead of a more accomplished musician who has over 500 songs in a vault! yep that's the ticket!

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Great! And then, apparently a complete week off. The venue is again available for the October 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15, 16, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29.

I'm just curious to see how many dates in total Prince and the N.P.G. will play in Chicago?

21-nite stand? Not sure... 10 would be just great.

and there are other topics and threads that aren't about prince as well so are u gonna go in those threads and tell them THIS IS A PRINCE SITE HOW DARE U SPEAK OF ANY OTHER ARTIST!

and no one is stopping those from being excited about going 2 a show ..knock yourself out but the day someone tells me 2 stop voicing my freedom of speech is the day i will be able 2 smack some sense into prince.

oh wait how dare the red hot chilli peppers put out a new album and actually do songs from that album in concert and not due under the bridge? oh wait ..they do DO THAT

oh wait how does every other artist manage 2 put their videos up on youtube and not threating 2 sue their fans because they dare post that video up or they the artist themselves, do it.

how dare any musician in the world challenge themselves creatively and expand their musical repiorte without having 2 cater 2 some fans on a website.

gee oh how dare the band/group/singer dare give a interview that interlectual and not cryptic by answering through a email

so again knock yourself out and have fun at the concerts, i'll be awaiting the thread that says "i went 2 all three shows or how many ever and i'm flat broke i can't pay my rent, insurance, feed myself and family but damn it was great 2 hear purple rain again"

It's actually NOT a good point. The title of this thread is "Prince Announces Welcome 2 Chicago Residency". Nowhere in it does it say anything about "only post here if you're discussing buying tickets". No one's trying to "poop on them". Why would someone let what me and a few others say ruin an experience for them in the first place? If they do, then that's really on them.

I'm not going to tread lightly because someone may get their little feelings hurt, especially when I'm not saying shit about THEM to hurt their feelings or bring them down!

Believe me. It is so much better to be able to enjoy yourself at a Prince concert, than continue to be frustrated or unhappy with his new concerts...be very happy you're not in the latter group.

That's why I don't let the complainers bother me cuz at the end of the day, I'm having the time of life and don't have to rely on watching old videos for the 100th time just to get satisifed.

So go on and have yourself a ball! cool You'll discover its like a big ole party that you wish never stopped.

I wish I as able to go. If Prince performs a little closer to the NJ/NJ/CT/PA area I'm going! cool cool cool cool cool

It sounds aS though the 24th had the stage pointing in the wrong direction. Supposedly, they reversed it all so that people who had bought good seats still get good seats. Sounds nutty to me.
