Tim Blair is a blogger and Sydney journalist. He may have come late to the party, but here he is

Thanks for posting that. I always enjoy reading about people discovering the joy of Prince live.

I do have to say, however, that this sentence

"The guy always seemed remote and weird, and his songs egomaniacal and hookless."

is one of the dumbest things I've ever read regarding Prince. Hookless? wtf?...Little Red Corvette is hookless?...When Doves Cry is Hookless?....And egomaniacal? In the era of Kanye west, Lady "everyone-look-at-me" Gaga and the musical manifestation of pure narcissism that is modern hip-hip, he calls Prince's music egomaniacal?

It seems that extreme ignorance a prerequisite for having your opinion published these days.

I think Australians aren't comfortable with strong egos... Its okay to have a strong ego, just not a big ego... Strong ego is big personality and confident, big ego is 'i am frickin great'.

I think when Prince says 'I have so many hits'. Too many hits' etc. Some people think he's being big headed.. =Look at me I am fricking masterful.

Just an opinion but I think Aussies culturally prefer a more subdued sentiment. Less ego centric. I could be wrong..

"The guy is a condensed musical encyclopedia"

Very well said!

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.
