Melbourne Age story re Prince and Delilah May 24 Why, why, why Delilah was in town Postcode 3000 Column by Suzanne Carbone
When Prince, he of the house of Purple Rain was in town, there was hysteria about him performing a secret show at a multitude of locations. One of them involved a 7-Eleven and Elvis as back-up singer. The support act for Prince’s Sydney concert, Delilah, a London talent who upgraded her stage name from Paloma Stoecker, received a call from the great man himself to warm the arena. It was a secret to some that the soulful singer flew to Melbourne for a photo shoot for Coutouring, the fashion blog edited by Lisa Teh and Thom Whilton. Photographer Rosanna Faraci, a snapper on the social circuit, captured Delilah in poses that will appear in July to coincide with the launch of her album From The Roots Up. Delilah’s style is “London Cool” and this means mixing high-end fashion from Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood with street grunge Dr Martens or Converse sneakers. At the concert, a delight for Delilah was joining Prince in singing U Got The Look, a fact that can’t be denied. | |
