Prince rains on Melbourne fans parade

HUNDREDS of Prince fans spent Monday evening on a wild goose chase around Melbourne after the Purple Rain singer sensationally pulled out of a secret after-party.

Fitzroy's The Old Bar, The Palace, St Kilda's Prince of Wales, Bennetts Lane Jazz bar and the HiFi Bar were all inundated by fanatics eager to catch the purple one's one-off intimate show after his sold-out concert at Rod Laver.

Bennetts Lane was his pick last time he was in town in 2003.

But at 9pm on Monday, publicity managers said the 1am after-party - tipped to be at Crown's poker bar, Club 23 - had been cancelled.

"Just been told party not happening tonight. Sorry," one texted to media.

It is thought Prince spent a quiet night in at Crown before his second Rod Laver show last night.

Gotye, Kimbra and Dannii Minogue's ex, Kris Smith, were among his Monday audience.

Well Monday night is QandA night. Guess he was catching up on the gay marriage debate between Joe and Penny.

I know his religion wont allow it, but Im pretty sure Prince preffered the pokies at Crown than to playing another aftershow.
