I like that approach! biggrin And I wish you good luck with running into Prince, or at least finding out that one night you are indeed at the right hotel. It would be cool to actually meet him ... I am thinking about all those fans who spend hours and hours outside of a hotel in which they know their stars are staying. For example, Bon Jovi Fans ... and Michael Jackson fans used to do that all the time, too. wink

Are you sure that Prince would want that? Just sayin...

I'm sure he wouldn't even notice if I run into him, I would just have a shy look and not say or do anything.

He actually walked past me twice in the Basement in 2003 and I was about 1m away from him during the concert there.

But if I meet him in the lift I would give him the elevator pitch and ask if he wants to come over to my room later tonight to my afterparty smile

MJMia: no, I am pretty sure Prince would not like it very much if a bunch of fans waited outside his hotel and bother him every time he walks in or out. But I could imagine that he would not mind if one person stands there and says hi to him, and somethin like "thank u for a great show".

PurpleVIP: I really would not mind being that close to Prince at least once. smile

Be realistic, I'm sure these things happen to him at least ten times a day when he is outside. That's a side-effect of being a superstar. You have fans, you get recognized.

If he doesn't like to be seen in public, he has to stay at a place with his own lift that takes him straight to his limo. There are such hotels in Sydney for people who want this.

Soooo....

It's okay to stalk someone because he's a "superstar"?

Being seen in public is different than having someone up on you when you walk out of somewhere just because they think they have the right.

And would you want someone bothering you "at least ten times a day"?

If we're talking about "reality", it's a little strange to hang around outside a hotel just to get a glimpse of someone. Waiting outside the venue for him to come out is more acceptable than stalking where he is trying to rest/relax before or after a show.

Who says something about stalking? If you happen to run into someone or he happens to walk past you, what's the problem with that?

I remember when I walked on Circular Quay one evening and there was this huge crowd of teenagers. I asked one of them what they are doing and he said they are waiting for Justin B (can't remember how to spell his last name) who arrives by cruise ship. Never heard of him before, but that's what lots of fans are doing, independent of who they are fan of. I wouldn't call that stalking either, just normal fan behavior.

"Happen to run into" is when I was walking up the steps to Lincoln Center in NYC and (I can't even think of his name right now) bumped into me coming down.

After he said, "Excuse me", I said, "Hey, you're ___!" and he said, "Yes", and we kept it moving.

Sitting outside a hotel is not happenstance.

Sitting outside by yourself trying to create a "chance meeting" is also different than hanging out with a group hoping for a sighting.

According to a 2002 report by the National Center for Victims of Crime, "Virtually any unwanted contact between two people that directly or indirectly communicates a threat or places the victim in fear can be considered stalking."

Chocolate, who said anything about "sitting outside by yourself" or anything like that? I think you should read again what it says in your signature and have a think about it...

Oooh.... you used the lyrics I chose against me.

What you called "normal fan behavior" seems weird to me. Shame on me... I made a judgement.

Damn. I'll have to remove it because I'm such a hypocrite.

:slappingwrist:

I'm done.

lol

Hehe.

I had this same argument on another forum, where someone else (Australian) asked for Hotel info, in hope of seeing her fav artist, and she got crusified!

I stuck by her all the way, and the shiit that was posted was unbelievable.

Pretty much like the posts above, it was stalker this stalker that, think of their privacy, and "look at what happened to John Lennon..." blah blah blah.

And after days of trying to convince them that it was a fan's dream to meet their idol..... it finally hit me. We're dealing with posters from the other side of the world, where gun's are available at 7/11's, and shootings/assasinations are part of their history.

Im not saying that here in Aust all is fine and dandy, but paranoia is not part of our culture.

I've "stalked" many a times to get my fav artists picture or signature. Its part of the excitement of having them here in our country, which is rare in itself. And Ive done so previously without creeping anyone out. Although in 92, Michael Bland DID scream out at one time, "dont you have a job to go to Nate!?".

20 years later. I dont think I'll be chasing anything this time around, as I dont even know who 's in the band, and I know that based on previous visits, you'd be lucky to catch a glimpse of P from his hotel window, if that!

But still, if someone wants to do whatever they can to get that chance..... good on them, and enjoy the moment, I say.

Agree with you and can't believe how exaggerated this topic is. But right now I am going to concentrate on live tweets from the first show! And since I am no where near Australia - just in the other country that sounds similar and gets confused with Australia all the time (because of the name - Austria) I will not be sitting outside some hotel, hoping to see Prince. But the idea of having that chance makes me smile and I see nothing whatsoever wrong with it!
