Good fare but the inbound ain't gonna be $129 as that's what the Aussies charge in departure tax alone so a return will be wha, $390?

Departure tax varies state to state. I think QLD is the most x$pensive, Victoria is the cheapest and NSW in the middle. My flight over was $179, back was $223. The taxes portion came to $138. They also charge an unnecessary fee for credit cards, considering phone or shop service costs $25 a pop, its virtually impossible to get anything at listed price, same for tickets to concerts, there will soon be fees for pen wear and paperage. And of course feeage, the fee charged for the strain of dreaming up new fees to charge people.

A ten year Australian visa? Cool. If it's a 10 year nz visa you still need an aus visitors visa.
Re cheap inbounds. I don't know but just check the websites of nz, Qantas, emirates, virgin and jet star. Those are your only options and online is cheapest for trans Tasman. If you are happy to just do hand luggage then jet star might be the cheapest.

We could have all done much worse, ever try to book a ticket over there for on a State of Origin weekend or when the warriors are playing?

No because I'd rather set fire to my face than spend 4 hours in a metal tube at 39,000 ft with a bunch of lion red swilling rugby league supporters.

Me too man, if theres drunken rugby/league followers keep me away from them. But what I meant, say you are going across the ditch for another reason (Like say if Prince had a show on during a big rugby/league weekend) and we had no choice. We would get the louts and pay a super high price for the ticket. I mean I am thankful he's playing mid week shows (In Melbourne at least) and away from major games.

I hate Lion Red, I like to drink real beer, like Epic or anything by Galbraiths and the Cock and Bull.

Yep, I know what you meant and I'm feeling your beer preferences. Galbraiths is da bomb as is the a pint of buxom blonde from the cock and bull. biggrin
