Could be a reason.

Think about: Not Prince is doing the marketing it is the festival promoter. Propably there have been made a pre-contract and throughout the EURO Tour there were still negotiations going on, which may not fulfill Prince request. So it would be logical that P refrain from the pre-contract.

None would work for less, right.

And the promoter need to do any martketing otherwise he will not sell tickets.

That's the way the business works. It is a hard one.

Unfortunately the fans are the looser in this business, always.

And because it is a festival with lots of other artists, you guys who plan to go there just for Prince won't get your money back, unfortunately.

So go to Rio enjoy the city or better the beach and party with the other musicians there.

And as said here, he may change his decision or will come back soon by himself. As far as I know whenever he cancelled a show he returns to this country. So let's cross fingers for all of the South Americans.

I agree, I wouldn't do it either if the ticket was only for Prince.

Hopefully the regulations are that way that all of you get their money back.

Humans are supposed to be popstars and cancel shows 4 days before its scheduled, without any explanation? His producer just told the organizers he couldnt go, end of the story. So professional..

it was really rude of him to do so, unless he has a medical issue.

I think it's strange they didn't put anything about it on their facebook, twitter or website(festival ..)

Bullshit over the last 30 years P has cancelled a handful of concerts. He loses money when he cancels so he must have good reason. It might be a shock to some of you but dude is 53 not 23 age will slow you down.

rumour has it that Prince heard Imago and a few others of his ilk were planning to go there, so he deliberately cancelled & invited about 250 special Brazilian friends to a private show at Paisley Park

To be fair his voice has sounded a bit throaty for the last few concerts - perhaps he is ill. He has toured pretty non-stop now for ages. To concert goers he only looks like he is working 4 the time he is on stage but there is a lot more background work.

I dont believe 4 1 minute Prince purposefully set out to let people down.

I am sure he will do something special 4 Sth America in the future as a way 2 say sorry.

I remember reading about this in one of the threads from a concert from last week. When you're sick, it's better to get rest so you can recover otherwise the cold could last longer than you want it to. Too bad for those who were anticipating the concert and made plans though.

And it sounds like he was working even though he was sick. I remember doing that when I got sick and on my days off I would sleep all day. The older I get, the harder it is to bouce back quickly so as soon as I get sick I immediately begin to get rest.

Looks like he just pulled a typical Prince. Sorry for you guys who already booked hotel and plane tickets

I am sure he had a reason for cancelling. If it is a reason that his fans would accept (i.e., he's sick), then we'll probably hear about it from Dr. Funkenberry soon. Otherwise, I would say the most likely reason is that the promoters didn't have the money to pay him.

Anyone on here in the insurance business? Someone should offer an insurance policy to cover the expenses of Prince fans who travel to one of his concerts that gets cancelled.
