For me it was the Troubador 2nd set. 1st off it was like having him play in your living room the venue was so small. I was in front of the mic all night & witnissed an axe session I hadn't seen or heard from him in awhile that just blew away the Conga Room gig from 09. Opening up with I like it there & then going into Endorphin machine hit me in my P spot. Then to transform Colonized Mind into some sublime coda with mike phillips on the horn sent goose bumps throughout my body. Watching him direct the band like Duke Ellington & giving Blackwell the stink eye when he missed a rim shot was priceless all the while being close enough to smell the funk coming off him that night. I'll never forget that show and walked away saying "Damn he got me again". [Edited 8/24/11 10:28am] | |
