well in my personal count it's only 78 different tracks...

I excluded the first hour of the first concert in De Melkweg and didn't count chants or interpolations as performed songs. Some say he did Housequake because he shouted 'Does anyone know about the quake' - that doesn't count as performing a song to me... same goes for 'I Like Funky Music', 'Take This Beat' (???), 'All Day All Night' and so on. America I don't count either because he only did the bass part in some funky james.

Still, I am impressed with the setlists he did in the Netherlands... Of course the first 5 were special concerts [edit: note most of these tracks were performed as songs not part of a medley]:

Yeah and people on here think his concerts are predictable!!!

Of course not. I usually make these predictions WHICH NEVER COME TRUE :

1. Shelby or someone else will sing lead on tons of songs.

2. Prince will whisper if he does Mountains, and the girls will sing 90% of it.

3. Prince will not be willing to do the work, and finish songs. He will sing bits and pieces of many songs.

4. Prince will hold the microphone for the crowd to sing "Kiss." Since we all paid good money to hear a crowd sing, we all leave happy.

5. Prince will do the "Sampler Set," and some on this site like that better than a band playing.

6. Prince will say "I've got too many hits," since he likes to say weird random things he will never ever say again.

7. Prince will maybe sing all the lyrics to ten songs per show, since we all like medleys and background singers better than him.

8. Prince will spend tons of time pumping up the crowd, telling them to put their hands up, and asking them to repeat dumb phrases instead of singing. Like someone else said, he spends so much time hyping the crowd, you think you're at a rap concert.

In conclusion: Prince can have some great moments...better than any other artist on earth. Yet he does annoying things that devalue a great performance, and make it look like he's lazy. He can be so on fire, that you get pulled into thinking you're seeing a legend, and then he pulls some lame crap that the honest fan will cringe at. Of course he is a legend, but you wouldn't catch Miles Davis playing his trumpet over a backing tape when he was alive.

I love this guy so much, and I enjoy his shows so much, but they have been a roller coaster for me. None of the 6 shows I saw this year were longer than 2 hours, and Prince didn't sing for over an hour at any of them. He had Shelby, and he also danced around avoiding the mic. His voice is an instrument, and he doesn't use it enough.

The One Nite Alone and Musicology shows had their ups and downs, but he sang full versions of 15 songs every single night without exception. He may have done this at a few of the European shows, and a few of the Los Angeles shows, but not at mine. I got the Medley Prince, and the Shelby Prince. Still, a weak Prince show is better than most people's best shows, so I have to just be satisfied with what he give us. Still...he is capable of so much more.

Of course, I'm gonna be flamed for giving my opinion. All the Prince ass-kissers will line up to take shots at me. I doubt half of those that hate my post love Lotus Flow3r and 20Ten as much as I do. In fact, I love all his studio work. Some of the post 80's stuff isn't quite as great, but I like it all. What I do find funny, is that on the other Artist fan-websites I go on, there is some negativity about live performances. Usually, just a complaint about the setlist. Prince is the ONLY Artist that gets so many complaints about medleys and background singers singing too much. Why?

Uh...Prince is the only Artist who wimps out on singing lead on 15 FULL LENGTH songs a night. I've only seen Morris Day do this besides Prince. And as far as Multi-Platnium Artists go...Prince is dead last in time spent actually singing. He also is the only one spending so much time trying to hype the crowd.

Good, but still a long way from 300 songs he claims the band have prepared.
