Not sure if that's going to entice him....

You just want to see him cover Mull of Kintyre with full pipe band backing. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Ive been front row with Unique a couple of times with those fantastic queue jumping skills. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I know you don't want to, but that's why you go to England.

Prince playing Scotland is the only time I will ever see him again, unless he plays much more challenging setlists and much smaller venues in England, then I will travel again.

Don't want to what?

apart from huge countries he only usually plays in one town when he comes over these days. there is no need for him to move tons of gear and umpteen people. he sells out gigs anyways. if people want to see him they just need to go to the gig. there are plenty of flights and trains from scotland to london. folks in american spend more time travelling to see him out of town than we do going to london

Indeed, an hour (or so) flight, or 4hrs (or so) on the train, it's a piece of piss.

Take them with you and tie them up ouside the gig, or leave them in the cloakroom.

Prince doing a residency in Sauchiehall Street doesn't seem to likely at the moment.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Prince doesn't do the gigs for fun - he plays where promoters make offers.
Don't lobby Prince - lobby local concert promoters- then you'll get him in Scotland.

He could play Meadowbank again then I would just have stagger 100 yards to me flat afterwards.

i've seen prince, radiohead, muse and beck at meadowbank, some fine artists, but it's still a shite venue for music. it's usually pissing down and cold in scotland. glasgow has better venues but it's still pain in the arse to get there and back
at least with london u meet more people and sometimes better people, and you can do loads more things when you are there. it's the only time i go on holiday when it's prince related
if prince did do 21 nites at mad dogs it would just end up being shite anyways

Aye, Meadowbank is a shite venue, buses in the background and all that tackle. And these days it is a decaying moss filled toilet for pretend American footballers on a Thursday night. Much like the rest of that area, minus the American footballers.

i went past meadowbank today on the way back from the prince gig and noticed they've knocked half of meadowbank down and built new shit instead. they kept up all the shitty parts though. the bit you live in is all new too. i like the old tenements, thick walls
actually i met a scottish guy who was down the front at hop park from up here and was talking about you, but couldn't remember the name, so he was gonna get in touch for a pint or something
there was also a security guy from paisley who came and talked to us. a few security from scotland actually. i think the english shit their pants when scottish people talk to them

Meadowbank House is getting a revamp too.
| |
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
are they knocking it down and starting again?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Just gutting it, adding a new entrance etc, big job.

Meadowbank would be better for gigs if it was a proper closed on all sides stadium, but almost half of the perimiter is just trees and a railing fence, that's why you see buses driving past behind the stage and shit (or at least at the Prince gig you did). Perhaps a proper oval stadium might provide a slightly better sound too. But what do I know? [Edited 7/4/11 15:20pm]

What a gig, maybe the best one I've ever been to or perhaps I'm being swayed by sentiment of it being my first Prince gig. Not sure.
Celtic Park would be an even better venue this time around, the place has almost been rebuilt.

football stadium gigs are shite. i enjoyed that gig though. we went to the tunnel afterwards for the afterparty that didn't happen. half the club was shut off for him. we still had a great night though and hung about outside queen street station for the first train home, about 15 of us
