I'm sorry but for a man that has such an extensive song repertoire with great songs as he does...it's not understandable why he'd play the hits...unless he's retarded...but I think Prince needs to have a break...asap...before he has a breakdown on stage...

that is a totally different issue, and he played the same songs at shows that people said were the best they had ever seen

So now P is retarded for playing the hits that the vast majority of people want to hear. WTF is wrong with some of you. You do not get to pick the songs in the show.

No you're calling other people "fucking gold diggas", but obviously you didnt even attended the show in Cologne. No, it wasnt only the bad sound, his performance was a joke as well on Thursday !!!

All this has absouletly nothing to do with what happened in Norway of course, still you bring it up.

I wont move on, this was a fucking shit what was presented yesterday! I am not a gold digger, i spent a lot of money and what was delivered was painful, a scary! This is business! And what the fuck has it to do with norway?????? Give your money to them...... such coments are just silly! I have the right to complaining about the last evening, so leave me alone..........

Let it go. It isn't the end of the world. The guy has performed tens of thousands of shows. Odds are that a few of them have been duds. That's life. No one is perfect. 99% of all Prince shows are well worth the money. Sorry you had a shitty time.

I understand that it is upsetting when you go to a show and the sound is bad but come on painful and scary is a bit much. I am beginning to think that we have too many young people who need to get a grip on reality. Sometimes you can be disappointed with something but you go to deal with it and move on. It would be great if the venue and Prince refunded tge money but no way in hell can you sue to get your money back. Concerts are hit and miss with gurantee that the sound will be perfect or the show will be a certain length.

my 2 (or 5?) cents:

...in one of the ads for the tickets for this event, the promoter stated something similar as "prince will play 3 hrs..."

I was wondering already back then, whether such a (bold?!) statement could be a possible reason for people complaining in case he will not play that long. -Not knowing that it will be the shortest Prince concert I have ever witnessed so far.

Would I try to claim/complain etc.? -No, as it is better to forget about that asap, as to be reminded all the time during that progress otherwise. (Was it bad? -Yes - for me & my ears...yes...)

The sound at this particular venue -the cologne arena- was never good. I saw prince there +10rs ago as well, and it was back then not a good sound either (and 2 other concerts, also not overwhelming, to say it gentle), and short too. (But not "that" bad & not that short either)

There is a terrible acustic at this spot (and I would not be gone, but -alas- no other opportunity in Germany so far...or will he play in Berlin???) and also a big "sound cube" -in lack off a better word- in the rear center of the arena. Everyone besides the front row would get (IMO) the sound from there. And it was too loud for this cube on top of a bad mixture from that cube (Plus..more like Mono therefore).

I can however also confirm that the people at the arena (permanent) working there are used to it and can usually get the most out of the PA, but that wasn't the case this time.

[Besides the sound & the looong break -where I could NOT witness any "action" done by the guy(s) at the mix center- I enjoided the show nonetheless over great lenghts..]

I know from P-concerts of the past how good & extensive the soundchecks often were. Did anyone here a (loud) soundcheck was done before here? Something went for sure wrong there. Knowing now that the sound guy is from Prince's team is hard to beliefe therefore, but matches the reality facts of the result nevertheless. This means as logical result: Even if it leaves the blame with Prince, I do trust the concert statement.

Also a writer from another news met him on the bycicle just before the show.

See http://www.faz.net/artike...75835.html (german). Difficult to understand the delay of the start either under these circumsdances.

I live on planet earth. I am not sure what planet you are on. No one is going to get a refund because they did not like the sound at a concert or they feel the show is too short. If you look on the back of your ticket it usually states no refunds. You only get your money back if the show is cancelled. This has nothing to do with the fucking 70s. If every fuckwad who did not like a concert could sue you would see the end to live performances. What you do if you do not like the show is not go to the next gig. I have not heard anyone state the performance was bad just that they do not care for the sound I really believe despite all of P's issues he cares about his music and I am sure the sound guy is going to be fired and he will get things ready for the next gig. I do not believe for one minute he wants to have bad sound or short shows. His live shows are his bread and butter no one wants to lose the ablity to make a living.

You're avoiding the issue, Planetlaura.

It' not a question of "liking" the show...if the sound quality is exceptionally bad or dangerously loud, this is an issue...whether Planetlaura likes it or not.

No one is going to get their money back because they feel the sound was bad. It is not a rule on my planet it is the way that it is and that is not going to change. As far as something being dangerously loud try leaving the venue no one if forcing anyone to stay. Honestly, I have never heard so many whining and crying little bitches in my life. Grow up and grow a pair.

In addition, from the reviews from Ireland concert the sound problems have been resolved because he never planned to have bad sound despite what some of the crazies on this board believe.

If people are whining surely there must be a reason for that. A week later people still feel the bitter taste.

I hate it if people who haven't attended the gig in Cologne argue with those who have. I mean why don't you shut up?! It's ridiculous to make comments if you have no clue.

i was in vienna last year, the only difference was the length of the concert.

setlist last year in vienna: purple rain, let's go crazy, delirious, 1999, shhh, stratus, kiss, controversy, mountains, a love bizarre,... it was quite similar and everyone raved about after it.

I drove a total of 2000 km, stayed two nights at the hotel, missed my connecting train because of delay (stellwerkprobleme), had to spend an extra night in Rosenheim - and all this cost me a total of 400 .

It isn't very difficult to understand why people are complaining.

I met lots of fans who have attended many gigs and travel across Europe, this of course is not the majority. For most of those guys it's not a big deal if a disaster like this happens.

For the majority it was their first gig attendance, some travelled from far away.

He played for about 40 minutes max or so, really trying hard to make things work. The rest were soundchecks (15 minutes), that is of course after people waited 50 minutes for him to come back. The atmosphere was a disaster, and even for me who has a lot of patience...

We got a total of 55 Minutes after having waited 1,5 hours. In my opinion he changed the setlist cause he wanted to continue on the safe side. The setlist other than 2-3 songs is ridiculous. If you compare the setlist... it is only half of the songs he plays on any AVERAGE gigs ...and I don't mean his extended gigs...

In my opinion tho, when Prince got on stage with the first song, he already was so pissed off within 5 minutes, and I knew the night was gonna end in a disaster...and I wasn't even aware of the sound problems by then....he may have tried all he could..which I doubt...cause he had a bad day...but he should have cancelled and never came back again...it's better no gig than a disappointment...a lot of people won't go to his gig...I'm sure of that!

Edit: With that disaster in mind, I'm thinking Prince needs a break!

Then it might have to do something with the 'hardcoreship' (is that a word?) of you being a fan?

But still. If people feel they should complain, file a lawsuit, whatever, then so be it.
