I would hate to be around Prince or any of his NPG band right now in Germany, especially if I am the sound man!

I am hearing from a source that Prince and the band are having some post-production difficulties that they are trying to get fixed before the next gig. It seems there were some sound problems at the show tonight and it caused a delay. After the first song, the band knew something was different. They didn't and don't want to cancel a show because of janky sound quality but sometimes, things are out of their control.

The audience knows what the sound is supposed to sound like at a Prince show and so does the band. You know Prince and the band want to give the BEST possible experience when you come to their shows, so I can bet everyone is unhappy. I am told things went perfect in sound check but by the time they hit the stage, things were drastically changed.

A source at the venue over heard that they better get to the bottom of this and fix it for the people coming to see them. They said that it will take a minute BUT it is being made sure that the audience gets the best sound and performance by Prince and The NPG.

It appears the band was highly upset about the sound after the show, some even taking to Twitter to vent. You can bet they truly feel bad for the fans who had to put up with the audio problems but I can guarantee you Prince and crew will get it fixed! You can believe that!!!-Dr.FB

I'm wondering why Dr. Frankenberry calls it, "post production" difficulties. Post production happens after a recorded or filmed event, not during.

probably doesn't know any better, nor did the band member(!) who originally posted that term. It's a production issue for sure. But one that is oh so easy to fix.

For the fee he's taking, Prince needs to be more in control and respect his fans.

I was at the gig yesterday, and I was standing in the first row. I could literally see every damn facial expression and what was going on. Today, I read different reports on what happpened yesterday. In my opionion nobody who wasn't at the gig, should comment on what has happened unless you were were really there.

Prince did begin with soundcheck at 6.15 by the time entrance to the hall had already begun. It seems the promoter and techicians had done the soundcheck and everyting was fine. Then Prince changes his mind the last minute, and wants to do a completely different setlist, then things begin to be obscure...

His guitar petals don't work...the air conditioner on stage is messed up....the band is confused..I could see all of that...he leaves stage after 10 minutes and is having long dicussions with some people on the technical side..backstage....they can't seem to fix it up.

Meanwhile the audience got very weary, and confused!

He comes back on stage after 50 minutes, and he apologized many times about the sound. He said he wants to play and wants everyone to have a good sound....the first half an hour is a jam session with endless soundchecks....by the time, you could see he was very upset...and not in a mood.

Then he does shh...andy and shelby being competely confused looking...I heard that they had microphone problems...shortly after Prince goes on the safe side and plays few hits...Kiss, Mountains....he tried to fix the sound himself

Even technicians got on stage to fix things up, but Prince was so pissed off, he could have never pulled it off anymore. From then on he didn't wanna play...

And of course the end..purple rain, and that was that.

My personal opionin is a completely different thing:

When Prince got on stage, he was very unhappy looking. I have no idea if it was the sound problems, or the crap dynamic in his band. He's been very unhappy lately with everyone, and I do believe that the band is not versatile enough to be on stage with him.

I also think he's very tired or has some other things that he's occupied with..if he wanted to play, he could have pulled it off, but he jsut didn't wanna play, it's simple as that.

If you'd have seen him yesterday...his face when he got on stage...just after 5 minutes..you'd know what I'm talking about...he was furious..

We are all very disappointed, and he has to work out his sound problems, cause this is not the first time this is happening, and I can't believe we are talking about Prince here

I feel extemely sorry for fans that I met yesterday afternoon, and some have waited for so many years to experience Prince for the first time. It must have been such a letdown. I have seen him before and I know what he can do.

Honestly, I have absolutely no idea why he has that band line up that adds nothing to his show other than replacing him at times when he doesn't wanna sing. It's simply lame. He knows Shelby has a powerful voice and keeps the mood up when he needs his break on stage. No comment on Andy, as she was there but did nothing. She literally stood there!

Blaming things on soundman is simply stupid. Is he making jokes i don't even know...

I wouldn't normally ask for a refund back, but I begin to think he needs the cash and is really not bothered about fans (he never really was, anyway).

I can easily imagine technical difficulties happening at such a huge show, but at some point you offer refunds or say "let's reschedule this and try again" rather than just force everyone to suffer through it.

one of two reasons that i won't go anymore to his MAINshows is that he is always and still playin' his hits...sorry prince, but i can't hear that anymore, normally u play ur hits brillant, but it's over 4 me...i do love FUNK....and i know that he loves to play funk which is coming out of (his) heart, most @ aftershows....so since yesterday the MAINshow-issue is closed 4 me....AFTERshows yes !!!...

the 2nd reason is that eye don't like what happened yesterday @ my hometown...eye don't wanna go in details cuz' everyone who witnessed the concert knows everything what we are talkin' about....eye remember last summer in berlin that there were also sound problems and if eye read the statements/reviews of this summer euro-tour there is ''always'' a sound issue !!!!..... WHY ??.....

some weeks ago @ paris it was a LOVELY LOVELY evening ... eye was enthusiastic/embraced by the show AT ALL !!!.....but this time here in cologne, eye am disappointed !.....it was the first time ever that eye saw him kind of unserious !....that was also new 4 me...

eye also have 2 say that the lanxess arena is known 4 that difficult sound.....

@ least this: EYE AM a great ''fan'' (eye don't like this word) and EYE WILL EVER listen 2 his beautiful, xtraordinary music.....i don't like what happened yesterday but he is not a machine like we all are not, don't we.....we all make mistakes (IF it was one?) or something ''wrong''....that's the way it is and the way LOVE goes....

thank you for your first hand account. i was thinking the other day it must be hard to be prince. he's got to somehow magically pull it all together night after night after night and again. mostly he manages to do so, but sometimes he just plain has a bad day. we all do. difference is, prince's bad day happens on stage, in the harsh glare of the spotlight. and, he can't call in sick

i hope he's okay. he and the band have been following a pretty challenging performance schedule

Glad you said that because I was gonna post the same thing. How does this guy know he is not happy with everyone..makes me laugh when someone thinks they are in with the Prince inner circle and know all his thoughts!
