Thank you for all your help! I just thought it might be quicker to get money from an ATM machine elsewhere as there might be queues in front of the ones at the festival.
Sure, sure, better outside of the festival if you don't want to waste time...
Okay let me call them about this festival card, see how it works, cus I'm not really sure.
Thanks
IMO they are just trying to make extra money with it as from what I see you can only get a refund if you don't spend all the money you put on it once the festival is over on one day only directly at the festival. And of course I and many others are long gone that day. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A.... |

Are you talking about credit card or ATM card (cash card) here?
Uhm, both or either... the extra charge depends on the bank you are at of course.
That sucks that Hungarian banks charge extra for that . With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A.... |

I read about that Festivalcard too and don't like the idea of it. Especially with the refund at the end of the festival ... |

Okay, now it is all clear.
FESTIVAL CARD:
When entering the Island together with your wristband, you will receive an empty festival card. You can then charge the card at special charge places either with cash or by credit card (no need to have cash on you). Charge fee is 100HUF/charge if you pay by card. So yes, if you want to avoid having to pay 100 HUF per each re-charge, then better bring cash with you. You can recharge you festival card every time you want. Balance cannot exceed: 240.000 HUF!!
I think that's all that we need to know about this. |

No, you haven't. He's just too hot in that picture. I also miss him terribly. I wondered if you were a fan because of the MJ in your nick, but then, I figured that you are probably not because I've never seen you in the MJ sticky thread or at least I don't remember you.
Anyway, one more question, will I be OK with EUROS only or should I exchange my money for croatian currency as well. And how much may I need? How much is the public transport? Thanks.

oh yeah, sorry what a stupid typo. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all." |

Serious: right, Hungarian.
Of course the "MJ" is not there by coincidence. I have this nick on all MJ boards I am registered to. Thought I'd stick to it, not to mention how odd PNMia would look. Joking... I've been an MJ fan for over 20 years, but actually stopped posting anything related to him 2 years ago. Too much pain... That's one of the reasons, another is that I just recently discovered there is an MJ related thread here.
So, back to topic: I'd say you will need Hungarian Forints as well, even if at a lot of places they accept Euros. A bus/tram ticket costs 320HUF (~1,15 Euros)
Cool to meet an MJ and a Prince fan. And thanks for all the info. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. So there is not minimum limit on the charge? For example, if I see that a drink costs, for example, 10 HUF and I'll know that I might wanna buy two drinks, I may charge only 20 HUF? Basicall yes.
But uhmmm, bear in mind that 10 HUF is very very little money. A drink costs around 200-300 HUF.
1 Euro = 277 HUF! |

Ok, thanks 4 the infos
At this Batthyany Square there is free parking? And it's quite close to the Margit-island and doesn't look too big on my map, so you think it will provide enough parking-space for the many concert-goers ?
And what would be a nice place/club/bar (not too loud ) nearby for chilling out after the concert ?
You're welcome. The parking is free after 6p.m. If you come earlier than that then, you'll have to pay around 400-500 or maybe 600 HUF. which is not bad, it is around 2-3 euros, so it isn't very expensive, it depends when you are coming of course. The fee is 400 HUF/hour (1,5 euros). OR park right next to the Danube, it is FREE there all day. Most certainly you'll find a place there as it will be Tuesday and it is pretty far away from the venue... But if not then make a few rounds around the place and there will be something there. The parking fee is at the same price around the area.
That's a good question. There a looot of places to go to in Budapest. You could go to Margit Island, to Cha-cha-cha os Hold udvar or across the Margit bridge there are a lot of pubs one after the other. Again because it wont be weekend the places won't be loaded with ppl.
But of course, you can just stay at Sziget as it is a festival, there will be a lot of places to go to. The Prince concert won't be the only thing happening, and your ticket is available for all shows/places for the the entire day.
Hope this helps... Shout if you need more info...
Thanks again 4 your helpfulness
Yeah, just 5 more days

Yay I got my ticket too!
Will there be a Prince.org meeting? Also, I haven't been following his latest tour dates, is he really going to start at 7 pm? And how long is the show expected to be, i.e. I remember some show having an encore after many people left the venue or something, that won't happen here, right? |

I've got one more question. What shoes shall I bring? I think we're gonna be standing on grass and over here, it's been very rainy since the beginning of the holidays so even though, it's sunny, the soil is soaking wet and pretty muddy. Is it like that in Hungary as well? [Edited 8/7/11 1:02am] "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. Yes, unfortunately it's going to rain on Tuesday and it's not going to be warm. But at least they are saying it's going to rain in the morning and not in the evening. Also, I'm not sure about this but I think they are putting some plastic floor thing in front of the big stage, or at least that's what I've seen on tv when they showed construction footage.
So, about the 7 pm start, how concrete that is? |

But is he plastic floor going to be everywhere or just only in front of the stage? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. I guess only around the main stage, so from the gates to the stage it's going to be muddy indeed.
The official site only talks about the 10 m long catwalk, maybe tonight in the news they will show more. |

This is how the stage is going to look. The floor is made of plastic. Wear warm, confy shoes though, it's going to be cold and probably moist. |

I am confused, it the picture taken from the stage and in the front is the "T-part" of the stage ?
Another question: Do the Hungarian media report anything when Prince will arrive in Hungary (Monday or Tuesday) and if there might be a Preshow or Aftershow there? Look at the grass in between the stage and the fence. It looks muddy already. Damn, which shoes will I be willing to have destroyed? The picture is taken from the inside of the stage. This is exactly how all his stages looked like during the Europe tour this year. He ordered this T-part of the stage for the concert and they bulit it for him. As you can see from the picture it is only half done. So it is still under construction.
I'm almost 100% sure that the Hungarian media is going to be all over Prince the next couple of days. And he will most certainly hate it. It is a big event, that he is coming, so expect footages from the very first second till the last. Unless his men are able to outsmart the Hungarian paparazzi. |

Well, you are not goin to have to step on the mud between the stage and the fence. Plus bear in mind that the stage is not finished yet. Plus, this is going to be a festival so you must expect durt and mud especially since the weather is going to be sh*t... Do not wear anything you like too much. |

I checked the weather forecase for Budapest and now it looks better than yesterday. It doesn't show any rain. Just little cloudy and quite warm, 24 Celsius. The rain might come on Wednesday. Does the weather forecast in Hungary say the same? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. Yupp, I am so happy... It seems that it'll only going to rain in the morning (if so), but it will be sunny all day. A bit cold, but I don't mind, I don't want to melt away, especially since there will be a lot of people close to each other. 23 degrees is just perfect for an open air concert.
