help,

I'm comeing to my first Prince concert with my husband, it's part of our honeymoon. We are from Croatia, I've been waiting for this whole life biggrin , can you suggest me when do we need to come to Sziget if we want to be in first lines in front of stage ?? I'm so happy he's finally somewhere near lol lol lol

Welcome, welcome!!! (Funny I sound like I'm hosting this gig, but actually somehow, I feel I do, probably because I've been waiting for this moment so bad and really want him to give his BEST guitar biggrin )

So, well doing this for the forth time, I have to say one thing. IT IS TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE!!! Sorry, probably not exactly what you wanted to hear. sad I'd say for the first row you'll need to be there couple of hours before ... It depends on the stage, the demand, when and how you are let in. All these things. I'd say be there as early as you possibly can, if you want to make sure.

That depends of course on how early would you like to arrive to the Island. lol

No, I am asking because I have got this voucher and not the ticket. I bet there will be huge qeues, but I have not idea how huge can they be and whether I'll have enough time to exchange it for the ticket. never been to that type of festival, so I have no idea.

I understand. I didn't know there is a voucher you need exchange. I'd say you'd be alright. You still have plenty of time to arrive to the venue, exchange the ticket and get relatively close to the stage if you arrive at 1:45 p.m.

http://www.click4hotel.eu/cs/hotel/madarsko/budapest-hotel-city-hostel-buda-631

This place is about 45 minutes away from the Island. You'll need to take one tram (number 41 or 19) from Gellert square go till last stop: Batthyányi square and from there one railway until Filatorigát. 2 minutes walk from there and you're there. Just remember the two stops. wink

I also have a voucher I need to exchange, I ordered the ticket following Vili's link in this thread (reply No 6) directly from the venue. The friends I am going with have tickets from what I know. As the voucher will be exchanged to a wristband I assumed the tickets would also be exchanged to one hmmm. So do you think that people who have a ticket don't need to get it exchanged for a wristband?

I'll probably be there too!

When are you all arriving?

I'll go by car and be there at noon-time and get to the venue as early as possible to be in the first row.

Martina, when will you be there?

It's probably going to be another Hits-setlist, but I simply have to see him anyway.

I think everybody will have to go through a security check, so regardless of vouchers or tickets, we will get wristbands, as it is the habit of festivals. I'm hoping we can keep the tickets though. I put them away as memory. lol

Ah okay, thanks for al your help here on this thread hug! Yeah I am keeping all my tickets too. Even though in my case this time it is only a voucher anyway that I can print out as often as I want to lol. Back in the day some tickets were really nice with photos love. I still remember how pissed I was when they took away my Zürich ticket for the 1993 show mad . They said that they need to take them away so that nobody can make fake ones for future shows disbelief. WTF!

No, you haven't. He's just too hot in that picture. I also miss him terribly. I wondered if you were a fan because of the MJ in your nick, but then, I figured that you are probably not because I've never seen you in the MJ sticky thread or at least I don't remember you.

Anyway, one more question, will I be OK with EUROS only or should I exchange my money for croatian currency as well. And how much may I need? How much is the public transport? Thanks.

Serious: right, Hungarian. lol

Of course the "MJ" is not there by coincidence. wink I have this nick on all MJ boards I am registered to. Thought I'd stick to it, not to mention how odd PNMia would look. razz Joking... lol I've been an MJ fan for over 20 years, but actually stopped posting anything related to him 2 years ago. Too much pain... sad That's one of the reasons, another is that I just recently discovered there is an MJ related thread here. lol

So, back to topic: I'd say you will need Hungarian Forints as well, even if at a lot of places they accept Euros. A bus/tram ticket costs 320HUF (~1,15 Euros) wink

So, back to topic: I'd say you will need Hungarian Forints as well, even if at a lot of places they accept Euros. A bus/tram ticket costs 320HUF (~1,15 Euros) wink

I plan to get Hungarian Forints at an ATM Machine. Are they everywhere in Budapest? I am staying with a local friend in the 11th district, I hope it won't be hard to find one there.

A read that for the festival you can only pay with a festivalcard you get together with your wristband that I need to charge at the festival sigh. So I guess I need to get Forints and then charge that stupid card with them disbelief. Does anybody know if the toilets are for free or do I have to charge that card if I do not even play to buy anything there, but just want to use the toilet? That card will be the reason that I plan to not spend any money at the festival if I can avoid it somehow.

This summer all festivals organized by Sziget are entirely cash-free. The official currency is the Festivalcard. Festival goers will pay electronically via Festivalcard

http://www.sziget.hu/festival_english/info/festivalcard/festivalcard.11254.html#what_can_i_buy

What is the card for?

Festivalcard is the official, cashless currency of Sziget Cultural Management Ltd. for the summer-festival season. You can use your Festivalcard at Budai Gourmet, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget Festival.
What can I buy using the Festivalcard?

Since traders, pubs and restaurants do only accept the Festivalcard as a means of payment in 2011, practically you can purchase every product sold by merchants at Sziget.
Can I use the card everywhere?

You can use the card at Budai Gourmet, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget Festivals. One Festivalcard is valid for all four festivals, however your balance cannot be transferred from one festival to the other. So if you have used your card at Budai Gourmet, and have some money left on it, you are not able to spend it at VOLT Festival – you can, however, recharge your card to use it again.
Where can I purchase a card?

Visitors get their card at the Festival Card Recharging points free, with a balance of HUF zero. The card is activated after registration or after having recharged it for the first time.
Do I need to register the card? If yes, where and how do I register?

You may use your card for payment without registration, however we would strongly encourage you to register your card as only registered cards can be disabled (e.g. if your card gets lost), and you can only transfer your balance to another card if your card is registered.

You may register your card: in SMS at +36 20 66-99-777, by sending the word REG, the cardnumber and a PIN-code consisting of four numbers chosen by you (e.g.: REG 123456789 1234) or online.
How long is the card valid?

The card can only be used for payment at the given event, throughout the duration of the event, in commercial units provided by Sziget Cultural Management Ltd.
Is this the only way I can pay at the festivals?

Yes, Festivalcard is the only valid currency at Budai Gourmet, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget festivals. Merchants are not going to accept cash. The last point where you can still pay in cash the ticket sales points.
How does the Festivalcard work?

The balance of the Festivalcard can be recharged with a sum of your choice, but the maximum amount is 240 000 HUF. You may recharge your card as many times as you wish. The card can be recharged by bankcard or cash, so you do not even need to have cash on you. If you recharge by bankcard, be prepared for a 100 HUF additional prize for each recharge.
All you need to do is tap the card against the cardreader terminal. Each payment takes 2-4 seconds only. If you would like to give a tip, let the barman/cashier know in advance.
Festivalcard is a contactless card, so you should never punch it and be careful never to break it.
How can I check the amount of money I have on my card?

You can always get information about your up-to-date balance at our Top Up Points, moreover you may check your balance before every payment at the cardreader terminal of each merchant, so you can always make sure you have enough money on you to pay for the item of your choice.
What happens to lost or stolen cards? Can I disable my card? Am I the only one who can use it?

You can only disable registered cards, and your balance can only be transferred from one card to another if it is registered.
Lost or stolen cards can only be disabled if they have been registered previously.
Cards can be disabled in the following ways:

* send the word STOP and your PIN-code of four numbers in an SMS to the the following phone number: +36 20 66-99-777-es (e.g.: STOP 1234)
* or go to the site www.metapay.hu/fesztivalkartya to disable your card.

In case you have registered, but your mobile phone got lost too, you can disable your card online. Look for T-Home internet-caravans at VOLT and Heineken Balaton Sound festivals, and go to the internet-tent at Sziget to be able to use computers.
You can request a new Festivalcard at the Top Up Points, after having disabled your lost or stolen card. The balance of the disabled card (in the moment of having disabled it) will be transferred to your new card 30 minutes after the disable. The balance of lost cards will be transferred to your new card at Helpdesk-points. You can find the Helpdesk Points in the City Center.
If you find a lost card, please leave it at one of our Top Up Points.
Are they going to ask for a PIN-code when I pay? What happens if I forget the code or if I can't remember it: is my card going to be banned then?

No, the unique PIN-code you gave throughout the registration process will only be asked for if you would like to disable your card. When paying, all you have to do is check if the number on the screen of the cardreader-terminal is correct, and then tap your card.
What happens to the money left on the card when the festival is over, how do I process a refund?

You can get your balance in cash after the last day of Sziget Festival on Monday, 15th August until 6 pm, at any open Recharging Point.
Whom should I turn to if there is a problem with my card?

Hostesses are going to be available to help card-owners at Festival-card Top Up Points, and a customer-service is available with experts twenty-four hours a day at the Helpdesk.
How and where can I recharge the card?

The balance of the Festivalcard can be recharged with a sum of your choice any time. Each festival has a number of Festivalcard Top Up Points where you can always recharge the card. We paid attention to the importance of having plenty of Top Up Points within a reasonable distance at every festival.
So I should give a tip seperately, if I want to?

You can give a tip using your Festivalcard just as if you were paying in cash or by bankcard.
Is there a minimum or a maximum sum of money I can have on my card?

The balance of the card can always be recharged with a sum of your choice at any Recharging Points, but the maximum amount is 240 000 HUF. When recharging your card, you may use cash or bank/creditcard.
Can I receive a receipt of my purchase?

Of course you can, merchants are still required to give a VAT-invoice if requested by the customer, and they have to give a receipt after each purchase.
If I bought a T-shirt and I would like to return it, what can I do?

You can go back to the merchant you brought the item from, who will act according to the current laws, and return your money.
Is my Festivalcard going to be compatible with my Budapest Card (card issued by Sziget)? Am I going to be able to pay with it in the city, too?

No, Festivalcards are not compatible with Budapest Cards. Festivalcards can only be used at Budai Gourmet, VOLT, Heineken Balaton Sound and Sziget festivals.

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Exchange some, unless you want to see grumpy faced unfriendly ticket selling lady who curses you in Hungarian knowing you have no clue what she is telling you, because you stole 5 minutes of her life waiting for your credit card to be validated by the bank. lol Because it takes some time till it does at ticket stands. Everywhere else you should be fine with the card. There will be ATMs on the island as well. wink

So,

to avoid an extra charge of 100 HUF, you'll have to get cash from an ATM and then transfer the cash to your festival card?

Thought I'd stick to it, not to mention how odd PNMia would look. razz Joking... lol I've been an MJ fan for over 20 years, but actually stopped posting anything related to him 2 years ago. Too much pain... sad That's one of the reasons, another is that I just recently discovered there is an MJ related thread here. lol

So, back to topic: I'd say you will need Hungarian Forints as well, even if at a lot of places they accept Euros. A bus/tram ticket costs 320HUF (~1,15 Euros) wink

Uhmm, what do you mean? ATMs are on every corner of the city. Any particular you are looking for? But, like I said in my previous comment, you'll find ATMs on the festival as well. Banks will bring some out just like the toilets and showers. lol Plus you can exchange your money there as well and eventually exchange it to the festival card. I have to check how that exactly works. Please bear with me on this one.

No clue about the toilets unfortunately.

exchange money?

just bring your maestro and credit-card and you will be fine i guess?

Exchange some, unless you want to see grumpy faced unfriendly ticket selling lady who curses you in Hungarian knowing you have no clue what she is telling you, because you stole 5 minutes of her life waiting for your credit card to be validated by the bank. lol Because it takes some time till it does at ticket stands. Everywhere else you should be fine with the card. There will be ATMs on the island as well. wink

But when you use an ATM machine in Budapest it is not neceassary to exchange money, right?

With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

no ATM's on the airport?

Of course there is. ATMs are everywhere. No need to worry about that. wink Okay I wasn't clear: so ATMs are everywhere if you don't want to carry any cash on you. I though you want to pay by card everywhere. Because taking out is much more expensive it'll charge you pretty bad, whereas if you pay by card that's little to or totally for free.

Thank you for all your help! I just thought it might be quicker to get money from an ATM machine elsewhere as there might be queues in front of the ones at the festival.

No it isn't. Because it'll give you the money in forints directly. cool

Uhm, both or either... the extra charge depends on the bank you are at of course.
