See you there. wink

From what I hear, tickets might come on sale today around noon local time. But I'm not 100% sure about that.

That's fantastic! He's taking steps to eastern europe step by step. First Poland and now Hungary.
Evene better to start off from festivals to gain more attraction from different people.

Tickets are on sale now.

I encountered some issues with their "Verified by Visa" system, so if your Visa card uses that and you have the option of not using it, paying with some other card may end up being more straightforward. (Mastercard seemed to work without any problems.)

xLiberiangirl -- to the best of my knowledge, he hasn't been to Hungary before. There have been a few announcements in the past few years, but this is the first time that an actual date has been set and tickets have come on sale. Now we just have to hope that he won't cancel! biggrin

funk4finns -- it's fantastic indeed. And speaking of Eastern European gigs, I assume you'll be seeing him in Helsinki today, so have fun! (You guys are, after all, geographically further east than either Poland or Hungary. razz )

Are you a fan of TTD too? If so I may know you from the yahoo group and the Sananda concert in 2002 in Budapest wink.

Do I need to buy only a ticket for day 0 or also an additional festival pass?

Serious -- yes, I think that's me. smile

I only bought a "Day 0 (Prince)" ticket. I assumed that that's enough. It's even slightly more expensive than the other one day tickets, and I can't find anywhere where it would say that I would need an additional festival pass.

Edit: As far I can see from the ticket itself, it allows me to enter the grounds at 10am and stay until next morning. It will be exchanged to a wristband upon entry. They don't seem to sell any separate festival passes. It's either day tickets, or you buy the whole week's shebang (with or without camping and Budapest travel card).

If you only want to come to the concert, then the daily ticket for day 0 is enough. It costs: 13900 HUF, which is around 55Euros. wink

I went to that festival 1998, was a crazy weekend (had a gun pulled on us in some bar we were in), Budapest is an amazing city, especially the architecture and food, would love to go there again...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Now all he has to do it include a trip to Anchorage and Fairbanks in Alaska, which he cancelled in 2001.

Still, I am speechless that Prince and the Band will be playing in Magyarország. I never thought this day would come, but after years on the road in familiar locations, over the past few years he is playing in locations he has not played or played in some time - like Moscow, Rio, etc.

Here's to a return trip sometime to Australia, Japan and Hawaii.

Too bad my passport is in processing, I would drop everything and travel to Hungary in a purple minute.

I have not yet decided how to travell to Budapest -train or by car- and would like to ask you:

-how is the parking situation round he Sziget festival, what would you advise ?

- will there be a curfew/is ther a certain time, the concerts have to end?

-what is the maximum capacity for spectators at this particular event?

Peace and b funky

Hi there!

- Parking: you can park outside the Island, however I highly doubt you'll find an empty place, so I'd suggest you park your car in the city at BATTHYÁNY SQUARE and go out with the railway (HEV), which stops right next to the entrance 1 minute walk. The stop's name where you have to get off the railway is called: FILATORIGÁT!!

- To my understanding no, parties last till the atmophere is good enough. There have been some complaints couple of years ago, by ppl that live nearby, but I haven't heard of any restrictions.

- That's a good question I don't know. 2 years ago, I have been to a concert at the main stage, and the place was pretty huge... Could've been around 15.000-20.000 people there... but again, I am not entirely sure

Any questions, let me know... wink And of course, welcome... I bought my tickets as well. Looking forward to this... biggrin

Never say that to Finns. lol Finland was the only Soviet Union neighbour, which kept their independence and political system after the WWII. Costs were huge. It took a couple of wars. So don't even start lol lol lol But I'm really glad, he's finally going to places, which didn't have any chance to see him during the 80's and early 90's.

Prince supposed to come here in 1988(2 gigs), 1990(2 gigs) and 2010, but he didn't. Well, I guess he now realizes, what he missed. The concert was a huge success. wink I'm sure it will be in Sziget, as well. cool

See you there hopefully headbang!

Does any of the Hungarian orgers know if there are still many tickets left or if I need to hurry to buy mine? Or where I could find out about that?
