Prince @Hop Farm, England - One of his best ever gigs! I've seen Prince over 10 times since Lovesexy and Hop Farm on Sunday 5th July was just amazing. R The energy of the crowd, the relentless energy of Prince and his heart particularly full of joy as he bounced of the crowd (who were really up for this!) and even the quality of the sound was amazing. Perfect! I was 20 yards from the stage and it was incredible

Oh, give him a break - he's obviously very excited and so he should be.
Lovely to see, can definitely relate to the feeling

as one of his hardest to please fans i have to say i was quite impressed with the footage i've watched. much as i hate his greatest hits shows they seemed to suit the festival vibe perfectly. haven't checked out the whole show and i'm sure there was some lame funk workouts too but that's that the best purple rain he's played in years. u could really sense the buzz off the crowd, many of who would probably have been hearing it live for the first time. think prince picked up on this as he seemed more emotionally involved. if he'd get his head out of his arse and play glastonbury it'd do his profile the world of good, but with his demeaning remarks last week i think he's burned that bridge for good. don't play me...i'm over 30 and i DO smoke weed....

I tend to think this was 'testing the Prince toe in the english festival water' and what a response he got. Much better than any O2 gig in 2007 and the energy was far stronger. I suspect P will be coming back to a festival upon this isle of ours not so long in the future. Because he had fun. [Edited 7/4/11 17:00pm]

[Edited 7/4/11 17:48pm] Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I'm generally quite critical of his shows...for example - Earl's Court in the 90's - awful sound, O2 in 2007 - the crowd didn't really get into at is amuch as I expected plus far too much brass solos. I could go on but this show had it all - the sound quality was amazing, the crowd really got into it, Prince was in a playful mood and the improv with the crowd was fantastic, the jams were great and not overlong and were timed perfectly. Sometimes it just works so well and this night was one of them.
