G'damn it ...... I wish the UK didn't have the Crapy Music Press .....then we would get Prince playing shows like this ..... but he has to play safe in the UK or the reviews will be sh*t .....
One day Prince play a concert in the UK for fans with open minds and ban the press from the show! unless they want to pay full ticket price! I said it before and I'll say it again; Prince is quite obviously feeling Europe a lot more than the US. The cloths, the setlists, atmosphere and (from what I've read) his general demeanor when performing in Europe is a lot looser and funkier than when he plays in the US, esp. compared to the W2A tour. I think he knows we expect what we expect over here because that's just how we are, whereas in Europe, he can pretty much play whatever his heart desires, and as long as it's good the crowd is into it.
Case in point; I just noticed that in the soundcheck he was wearing a hoodie. [Edited 7/7/11 18:16pm]

Strange stage set up. Almost like there's a moat between Prince & the audience.... Was this a distraction at the show or do the picture just make it seem more exaggerated than it really was?

You obviously didnt go to any of the o2 aftershows or Gold Experience concerts...
Just a thought, in 95 I went to both Dublin concerts, for me personally two of the best concerts I was ever at, at the second concert I was with a mixture of friends who either had never been to a Prince concert or were not big P fans, plus one who was a big fan but it was her first time, to say their feelings were mixed after, would be an understatement...There were great press reviews, the second concert had sold out on word of mouth alone from the first concert but the casual fans felt lost, which to be honest is understandable.
At the Hop Farm, the setlist may not knock you off your feet at first glance, but to witness an audience in a frenzy of dancing and singing was incredible, for me personally, the best show I have ever been to...Prince won over a whole new audience last Sunday in Kent, all the children I saw there reminded me of a story Prince once told of his father bringing him to a James Brown concert when he was a kid, and the lasting impression that left on him...
Of course, a greatest hit set does not always guarantee a brilliant concert, look up U2´s performance at Glastonbury, apart from The Edge, the band looked bored at times and Bono was completely out of sorts, almost as if the occasion got to him.
In the end the setlist should in the most part reflect the audiences wishes, they are after all the ones paying the cash If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

Great pics, love the outfits, is this official stage for the tour? If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.
