Heard a rumour last summer he was gonna do
a show at Culzean Castle in sunny Ayrshire.
Needless to say he didn't!

Celtic Park '92 was great, but I caught two shows at Earls Court that year too and despite EC being a horrid venue (imo) those were the better shows from what I remember.

My sister worked as a nanny in London at the time and got us great tickets so that may have added to the experience, I was a bit further back from the stage at Celtic Park.

dunno where you heard the culzean rumour, but most definately nothing more than a rumour for 100%

i saw GM's "final two" at EC and even at the back in the middle for the "final" night it was fucking amazing. i liked the venue. more soul than the o2. great atmosphere even though it's all brick and concrete. the floyd did the wall shows there

I always thought that The Usher Hall in Edinburgh or Glasgays Royal Concert hall would have been great venues for the ONA tour........oh well, maybe one day.

We were on the floor for the Prince gigs at EC, I was surprised that it was seating hehe.

Row g for the first and row f for the second show I think, fucking great shows, total spectacle.

the usher hall was bigger than he played. the playhouse is closer to the hammersmith and manc apollos. just its full of shite musicals. i could walk home from the playhouse and i'm a lazy bastard. i'd still get the bus though. i don't get a bus pass for nothing

gotta have an aftershow at liquid rooms though

I thought that The Usher Hall was on a par size wise with Hammersmith. Royal Concert Hall is a big venue, but a great one with good sound and seating plan.

Playhouse would be great, i'd still get a bus home too.....hehehe.

Hard to believe I was only 19 when I saw him for the first time at Parkhead..them were the days etc.!

i thought him playing edinburgh castle for new years 1999/2000 would have been perfect, broadcast around the world. and a gig at paisley has got to happen. in a park of course

parkhead was a fun time. he was a big star, yet hadn't been around that long in the prime limelight. i remember on the way out eveyone was screaming "you sexy motherfucker", a song they only heard for the first time that day

i was there that day...of course...got separated from my friends and ended up standing on the pitch for about 6 hours waiting for him while they played endless reruns of carma electra and the sexy mf video (which hadnt been released at that point)..i wasnt even near the front but what a gig...people just bouncing about ..you couldnt move...he was as big as he got at that point in the uk...i would love to see him up here again anywhere but he would be very expensive...unless he was doing another 'one nite alone' type small tour when he gets fed up playing the hits....armadillo or that new venue they are building next to the secc would be great..

I was at the SECC gigs, my partner and I went to the first one, and I went to the second gig on my own. At the second show I could let myself go a bit more as I did not have to watch out for me girlfriend, as a result I had a lot more to drink, still remember them though.

I remember her moaning at the lack of hits played...hehe, for me, these gigs were the best ones I had seen in Scotland (Prince wise), great days.

I was not at the aftershow though.

A recording of the aftershow is in circulation, but the quality is horrible.

What did u make of the Garage aftershow Unique? I can't quite remember it cuz my head was totally wasted! Can u remember anything he sang? I did meet a guy who had been up in the balcony area wi Prince & the band. But he said Prince just sat in the corner wi Mayte watching his laptop. Did u hear about a chick who got to meet him there? Heard that story too in one of the Fan reviews.

the garage aftershow was one of the best prince gigs i've ever been to, and i've been to a lot, including all the cellys etc. he came on late and only had an hour to play so instead of a loose jam, it was a very intense powerful performance, very tight, no mucking about, unlike most other informal gigs from the time that were loosely spaced out. it was full of new music like funky, funky design (the very first time ever that he played that track to an audience), and the version of the ride he played was probably the best version

i remember the security guys down the front were like hells angels bikers, no interest in prince, but prince played some mean guitar and i remember them turning to watch him as he got their attention

i never heard of anyone meeting him, and i don't remember a balcony area. what i do remember was the place was packed full, twice as many people as should have been in and it was hot and sweaty. people were standing on tables and chairs for space. it was a cold day outside, it was snowing a wee bit after the show and i had to wait till the first bus back in the morning and go to work in a record store with no sleep. there was supposed to be an aftershow the day before on the monday as wet wet wets manager was asked to arrange something but he couldnt at last minute

when we turned up at the SECC (parked ready for a swift exit) we found a bunch of peple already outside. in talking to them i found the bar staff alerted friends etc who were waiting to get in. this was before hardly anyone in the UK had internet and few had mobile phones

i think one day a nicer cleaner sounding copy of the aftershow might be in circulation. it's a corker of a gig. the next day prince did top of the pops. he mentioned this during the main SECC show

i can post a full setlist later but it was something like

a fairly typical aftershow set from the time, but a scorching one

the main shows were great too. in fact these were some of the best shows i'd ever been at due to the setlists comprising of mostly brand new and unreleased songs. it was a very exciting time to be a fan, you were just kept up to date with bootlegs and usenet posts and stuff. very underground, particularly for a very famous artist, plus the whole symbol name thing, the record company dispute and he made some of his best music then

and that's a man who knows his gigs. i think the only one in the uk i know that's seen prince more times than me, and in the world there are only a handful of people i know that have been to more gigs than me, and that's saying something

what did you think of hop farm btw? it had it's moments like the soundcheck and cool/don't stop but the hits aren't too exciting the 100th time around
