A Case of You will not be recognised so people will not shut up during that song.

Laydown most of them won't know either but that song is slightly louder.

Yes when someone screeched "DO KISS NEXT!!!" in the middle of A Case of You... that was just lovely. neutral A little respect for Joni Mitchell's masterpiece.

If anyone hasn't heard Laydown yet, he performed it on Lopez. (I only found it while surfing, just before the concert. But you guys are more up on your Prince than moi.)

This was my first Prince concert, after 26 years years of being a fan, and I just about died. It was perfect. Beautiful. I never really give a crap about all his eccentricities off the stage anyway cause I figure they go hand in hand with his genius... but now that I've seen first hand (and not just on youtube) how much he gives of himself live, I really REALLY will never again care what he does off stage. I mean... unless he starts killing people. eek

The man's been performing for 30+ years, and he's still giving his ALL. He comes completely alive, gives you his everything, performs Little Red Corvette and Purple Rain like he wrote them yesterday. He's leaping around like a 20 year old, playing with the audience, letting the musicians have their chance to play, giving you a taste from all over his repertoire... and he does this year after year. He's still fit, can still hit the notes, still screeches, still a demon on the guitar...

Next time I hear someone complain about how Prince acts, I'm gonna tell them every time Purple Yoda sets foot on stage he puts money in the Crazy Bank. He can make as many withdrawals as he wants. cool

(And for the record, I support a lot of his kooks. Not all, but a lot.)

The 1st song was not an instrumental, tentative title is "We Live, We Get Funky". The whole main guitar and rhythm is from Readhead Stepchild, with new lyrics and towards the middle of the performance, the guitar line from Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic...

You should copy and paste that and stick it on the Guardian interview thread;-)

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

i personally dig this band. they are all accomplished musicians. I really like the addition of andy allo on guitar & vocals. he needed a rhythm guitarist instead of 3 keyboards.

I thought it sounded more like 'Redhead Stepchild' a Tamar/Prince track from 2006.

Redhead Stepchild is a obvious ripoff from American Woman. Prince stole that song without giving credit. ANd that's not the first time he did such things.

I think it's kind of an exaggeration to call RS a ripoff of AW. After 40+ years of rockmusic it's almost impossible to write a new song of that genre which don't remind to an earlier song, at least in parts.

It's an obvious ripoff, no doubt about that. Just like the refrain from "My medallion" was stolen from the song "Spill the wine" and "guitar" was clearly "inspired" by the beatles' "Back in the USSR", etc.,etc.,... Prince is a genius songwriter, but even he seems to have creative lowpoints where he simply copies other peoples stuff. There are some more examples I could mention.

The Tamar CD was released (by accident?) in japan, and is "out there" on the net since then.

Ok, I'm done, I'm in love. shhh yes love2

Seeing this perfect looking man exactly a week before I turn 30, is the best gift I ever gave myself, and the best he could have given to me.

Thank you Prince. You looked so happy, and you made me happy.
