I've heard this rumour every year...

There's nothing fresh about this rumour. Which grapevine did you hear this rumour in? Was it your aunt knitting in front of the television and babbling about Prince Charles and brambleberry's or did you actually hear this somewhere in the media?

Technically speaking it would be possible if he stepped on a plane right after the Montreal concert on the 25th to play at the 26th in Glastonbury, and the organisation has to call Beyoncé off as closing act. No way.

is this rumour based on beyonce covering the beautiful ones last nite in france? she also did telephone, so why no rumour about gaga turning up?

btw the special secret guest is a band, not solo artist, and playing a smaller stage

so don't get confused with beyonces king(s of leon), queen, and prince medley being a hint that he's going to turn up

emily eavis has said it was a band though and not on the main stage. radio did an accoustic set or something on a smaller stage the other year. expect a similar thing. it's probably someone like hard-fi who have a new album out soon. maybe the killers

FALSE: lol

Despite the effects of the internet on his album sales, Prince remains one of pop's biggest stars. In 2007 he played 21 nights at the 20,000-capacity O2 arena in London, selling out all of them and grossing a reported $22m (£13.7m). He criticised the organisers of this weekend's Glastonbury festival, claiming the annual rumours that he is to play the festival are just an attempt to sell tickets on the back of his stardom. "They use my name to sell the festival," he said. "It's illegal. I've never spoken to anyone about doing that concert, ever."

A so called rumour about an event that is not going to take place, ever, because of the aversion of certain 'fans' to 'stand in a field' is a very specific type of rumour that indeed can be classified as fake as it has no reasonable chance of becoming reality and with the denial by mr P himself the discussion has entered a new phase: was he serious or joking as the context painted by the interview makes one wonder...

Which means half the site will try and get there, and then try and rush back to the pyramid for U2 at 10pm. And there is only one path leading from the Park Stage to the main trackway.

Poor old Morrissey. He will be on the Pyramid at 8pm playing to a half enpty field.
