wow with the average cost at $21.00 that's roughly just $5.25m in tix sales before overheads!. If memory serves me right the 21 nights in London blew this away. Is this the reason he's hitting Europe hard this year?.

Anyways at least it's nice to see some kind of thanks from him.

How'd you get an average cost of $21? If 85% of Forum seats were $25, and the other 15% were $60 - $220, and the Troubadour and HOB shows ranged from $100 - $500, you're looking at an average ticket price of about $55.

That's around $13 - $13.75 million in gross ticket sales.

From what I heard, there were empty seats at most shows, and a few had rather small crowds. Either way, he made a lot of money. Could have made a lot more with 5 night stands in major cities, and a more structured tour, but that's Prince for you. Welcome 2 Part of America Tour!

I like how people reply on Dr. Funkenberry as if they are writing directly to Prince

WTF is up with people?

also, why announce 1/4 a million people? is that necessary really?

Prince - not black, not white........just COOL

There were definitely empty seats at a bunch of shows, but a few did sell out.

Sold out or not, I was basing my calculation on the advertised 1/4 million people who supposedly bought tickets. But, now that I think about it, all 15 Forum shows would have to sell out to reach 1/4 million. I'd say the number is probably closer to 1/5 million, but that doesn't really sound good in a Thank You note, does it?

Prince would like to thank the 1/5 million fans who supported him. Nah.

Either way, you're looking at about $10 - $12 million in gross sales.

I don't understand that either, and it makes me laugh. People tweet to everybody as if they were Prince, cause they write something about Prince. Next time I write about him, I might get same replies. Seriously, get a life!

Prince I will always miss and love U.

Hey, what about thanking the people in NYC too. We paid full price for those shows, no discounts except for a small number of seats at each show and sold them out except for the NJ shows. I spent no less that $2000 on the six shows by the time I count food, transportation, etc.

Very nice.

At the end of the run, some tickets were even upwards of $400 a piece on Ticketmaster for the VIP table seats.

Its not about the money

Oh am I on the wrong thread? All I see is Prince thanking Music Lovers not about tickets and ticket prices.

Why would you talk about that when it has nothing to do with Prince saying thanks?

Tickets at The Forum went for WAY more than $220. Opening night we paid $781 for each ticket to have a table near the stage.

Prince said on stage he was doing it to save The Forum. These concerts were not about money in his pocket. And why are people speculating about his motivation anyway? Prince has NEVER been motivated by money. It's why he never sold out and even went so far to become a freakin' symbol (with SLAVE written on his face). Any Prince fan knows there is no rhyme or reason for what he does. He's a Mad Genius.... he does it for the FUNK nothin' but THE FUNK!

Wow....all I can say is I've never seen similar from any other Artists...again, what a genuinely gracious and elegant thank you this is.

Thank you, Prince for bringing the funk to the East, West, North and South. I and my friends/family had an absolutely fantastic time at each show attended.

Thanks to the NPG and all the excellent opening acts.

And, as an aside, that picture is kiss hot.
