The set list looks about right to me, but the Sheila E song he played was Love Bizarre and he also played Jungle Love some where in the last part of the show. "Life's an elevator, it goes up and down. Life's an elevator can't you dig the sound?" -Marc Bolan

The set list above misses a lot of songs. (Andy Allo performance, I don't know the title of the song) The Love We Make ( ) (was something else here as well?) Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough Cool Let's Work Everyday People Cream U Got The Look
(Shelby and Andy performance, I don't know the title of the song) Purple Rain
Take Me With U Raspberry Beret Kiss
Nothing Compares 2 U (Am I missing something here?) Baby I'm A Star
If I Was Your Girlfriend Disco Heat The Bird Jungle Love (w/ I Like Funky Music chant - nothing to do with the song from NPS) A Love Bizarre
Good gig, not necessarily among the best I've been to. There were some really good part, but he also kept losing the audience at times. He was at his best when doing the Controversy / 1999 / Purple Rain -era stuff and The Time / Sheila E. material. Contrary to the comment above him playing plenty of guitar, I got the impression that he really wasn't feeling like playing that much guitar last night and chose to sing and dance more instead. "Stratus" kinda seemed to kill off the momentum for many in the audience after such a high energy start with "1999", "DMSR", "Pop Life".
Am I the only one to think that he didn't give a very good performance of "Purple Rain"? It sounded like the band messed up parts of it and he ventured off quite a lot with the melody and the guitar solo. Maybe he and the band had trouble hearing themselves onstage? The last "encore" was the best part of the show for me - also hearing him play "The Love We Make" was pretty sweet. I thougt that one worked better last night than "Purple Rain".

'Stratus' is actually a Billy Cobham tune from the 70's, a jazz fusion "classic". I guess you could call it jazz-rock.

Yeah, I just listened to it on Youtube. It's the same piece.
I had mostly women around me in the audience and it was funny to see them dancing and clapping their hands during the first couple of numbers, but when he started playing that thing they were like "wtf is this shit".
I enjoyed it. It was just probably misplaced in the set.

What a party!!
I've seen him before two times in London at the O2. This was pretty much a perfect concert for me. The O2 concerts were more like a well thought out show and a lot of guitar playing. I wanted to see something different and Prince gave exactly that! The gig had more of a party and even afterparty feeling, which was exactly what I was hoping for, aaaaand I finally got to see him up close
Satisfied. | |

Satisfied! Definitely. Very good setlist, he delivered enough hits but luckily treated us also with great funk jams.
But... begininning of the concert suffered badly from crappy sound quality, very muddy. I'm pretty sure that band realised the problems as well, which might have caused those many breaks in the set (four encores, 2-3 song each, was pretty odd). And I agree with Novabrk that Purple Rain wasnt nearly perfect... especially the start of the song was weirdly off... sounded almost like they werent playing the same song. There was similar problem with some other song as well... Raspberry Beret?
Also IMHO the gig was short. Bit over 2 hours with lots of breaks. I don't know... somehow I bit weird concert... It didnt really REALLY start off before the last funk jams with audience members on the stage.
But anyway, Prince was clearly enjoying it and it seems that general response and the reviews have been very positive.
Only thing I was really missing was the afterparty

I thought they went into it so early to give the engineers time to work out the problems with the sound which not too good early on. 'Status' DID seem to kill the momentum of the gig.

Stratus set and jamming was just that, soundcheck in concert - But I really liked that (although sound problems) that was hilight for me. I had one friend, firsttimer in Prince concert and he´s also guitarist and he was also really pleased of that Stratus + jamming + Shhh.
Imho audience was good, partying and going on most of concert - happy to see finnish audience showing to Prince how fantastic we are

I think they should have done that soundcheck before the show started. You'd almost think they didn't get the gear in place before 7:45 when they finally opened the doors. That's the first time in my experience when they've held the audience back until the advertised starting time.
I know the arena isn't really the best place to listen to music, but I can't help being disappointed with the sound of the show. I can't really blame people who wouldn't want to stand in that heat with that sound for any longer than they did...

They did have soundcheck before concert, but maby there was some problems still, as they let people in so late, just before advertised start time.
