did u here this ?

When first rumours surfaced here about dublin gig i enquired at my local ticketmaster outlet and struck up a conversation with the guy on the counter. When concert announced i had just booked holiday and was skint until end of month (today is pay day!!!!) and couldn't afford tics but i kept in touch with yer man to see what kind of demand there was (option to borrow money but would rather wait till today) he even said he would ring me if he thought there was any chance the pit would go. Happened to be in store yesterday and was chatting with my guy and he said not to fret as there was the above amounts of tickets left (only a couple hundred seating left). Hope to get down later and score 7 pit for me and others! My thinking is that 4days notice at end of month is just a bit tight for a lot of people when the tickets are that bloody expensive, so could be a peak in sales for the next few day. Whether it will sell out entirely... Thats anybodies guess but price and bad feeling about 2008 cancellation are definite factors, plus the fact that he dosen't even register in the conciousness of most people i know can't help.

Hi peeps

Can anyone help me out with some local tourism advice!

If I decide to go ahead with Dublin I'll fly from manchester to dublin on the morning of 30th and fly back the following day.

My queries are:

Is malahide very close to dublin centre and what are the transport links like?

Is it going to be a nightmare getting from malahide back to dublin when the concert has finished?

Would I be best to stay in a hotel in Dublin centre (any tips on a cheap & convenient one would be appreciated)

Any news on an aftershow yet or clues where this might be?

Sorry for cluelessness but the logistics are overwhelming me.

Cheers in advance,

Jamie

Malahide is a 20 minute train ride from Connolly station (which is the main city centre station for that line, the other 2 city centre stations after it - Tara Street and Pearse Street are only another 2 or 3 minutes further by train).

Technically Malahide is served by both Irish Rail trains and DARTs (Dublin Area Rapid Transit), but seeing as the stupid DART runs on the same track as the train, there's no real choice for that journey - you just get whatever is leaving next. There's only one line so as long as you're going the right direction, you'll end up at Connolly station.

You can confirm train and dart times on the Irish Rail Website.

If memory serves, the 42 bus route goes to Malahide.

Don't get the bus. You'll regret it. Traffic around Malahide is not great at the best of times, and it's going to be even worse than usual with a concert on.

Is it going to be a nightmare getting from malahide back to dublin when the concert has finished?

I very much doubt it. The last train back to Dublin from Malahide is at 23:05 and the last DART at 23:35. Due to noise restrictions the concert is probably going to be over well before 11pm anyway.

In the unlikely event that you miss the last DART then you'll be getting a taxi, or walking (not recommended) as all the buses will be gone to bed by that time too.

Would I be best to stay in a hotel in Dublin centre (any tips on a cheap & convenient one would be appreciated)

I would recommend that, yes. Malahide is a lovely place, with some very good restaurants and bars, but it's not huge, and you might have difficulty getting (affordable) accommodation there. You'll have far more options in the city centre. Sorry, don't really have any hotel recomendations to make.

Any news on an aftershow yet or clues where this might be?

The only clue is that POD promotions are promoting the Castle gig so if there is an aftershow it would seem reasonable to guess that an aftershow would be either in Pod or TriPod (both clubs are in the same place, website here)

I hate to break it to you but thats not such a great area. It's actually not at Dublin Airport or that close to Malahide, they decided when building the Hilton to call it Hilton Dublin Airport rather than the dodgy area it's actually in. The hotel itself is nice, but you will have to get a taxi to Malahide, you cannot walk to Malahide. sad

And that is the same country where P asks over 100 euros for a ticket.

I'm staying there as well, going into Malahide after gig, catching a taxi back when the crowds die down.
