Dude, it's obvious I am exaggerating the number of cocnerts you went to on this 21 night stay but you did say you went to nine or ten. Look, if you're going to post here and write essays on how you are disappointed, expect feedback. It's..just...that..simple. Stop acting brand new lol.

Dude, it's obvious you're unable to engage in a serious conversation without exaggerating or using sarcasm to mask your actual feelings. Look, if you're going to respond to my posts and make assholish comments rather than discuss the issue intelligently and respectfully, expect me to call you on your BS. It's...just...that...simple. Stop acting like a hit-and-run troll.lol.

Wow, I'm just amazed at the incredible receptionePrince has received. While there have been a few posters who have over-done it or have complained about their experience at a particular show; it is overwhelmingly evident that this series has been a success and absolute orgasmic experience for just about everyone. This is just great beyond measure. Keep it up Prince.

Wow, so THIS is what it's like to have a fan! Cool. Not.
Look, let's do this civilly. I don't know you and we have no relationship either on the board or in real life as I do with some folks here who could tell you that I'm not the kind of man who engages in petty arguments with unknown, unseen people online. If you want to converse or debate about whatever point is being discussed in a respectful, genuine manner...in this case, May 27th at the Forum...cool. If you want to make snide, sarcastic remarks and act in a cowardly manner I have no time or patience for that. Feel free to ignore my posts if you can't handle that and I'll do the same. Thanks.

But he is better than Jimi Hendrix on guitar, right???
Who said that again?
Wow.....my friend asked me 30 minutes into the show: "What happened to the guitar?"
And then I remembered....Jimi Hendrix did a lot of shows with samplers and fake horns, too. He didn't always play the guitar. Can someone educate me on this?

How are YOU doing AlwayzNmyHair86? Did you have fun last night?
Okay, I'll stop playing with the org, I know how SOME of them can get. Good seeing you last night/this morning, had a great, great, great time. That was fun, festive, and everything else.

Brandy was at the show too. She was sitting right behind me in Section D Row 2. She looked beautiful and had she not been with a gentlemen I might have asked her out.

I was right there when all this went down. Probably one of the tallest guys in the room, grooving like nobody was watching. He told my buddy "I don't want you in my line of sight" - Really? Give me a break...

I was just thinking as I saw those, that most guys in their 50s don't look like that with their shirt open .
I love those top/dress things the twins have on, too. I want one. *annoyed* "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

Random thoughts:
--Surprised at some of the negative reaction to this show. It was my fifth of the Forum run and I thought it was just great. Decided to go at the last minute (literally, bought tickets at 7:55) and am really glad I did.
--I liked the sampler set at the beginning better than the end. It felt like more like a tease (foreplay? haha) and less like a letdown that way. The more spectacular openings are great too of course, but this was a fun way to start. He was really working his sort of "chair dance" moves, making funny faces, joking around etc. (We were in Loge 8, 5th row, which was a perfect place to see the piano set). Great that he sang at least a few verses of some of the songs, including Hot Thing, SOTT, When Doves Cry. Plus, Alphabet Street!!!
--I might get some flak for this, but while there are some songs I LOVE hearing every time (Controversy, Let's Work, Cool) there are others that I'm not terribly disappointed that he skipped. I think I've heard 1999, Little Red Corvette, Cream, and Rasberry Beret enough for a while, so I wasn't too bummed that he didn't play them. Yes it was a (slightly) shorter set but it felt tight to me, and it didn't feel too short at all.
--Don't know why people were disappointed by the Disco Heat / Baby I'm a Star bit -- it was a highlight for me.
--Dancing grandma was awesome, she could really move. Love that Prince picked up on that.
--Best versions of Musicology and Prince and the Band I've heard this tour.
--Didn't see any scalpers outside, did see a lot of people asking for tickets. The place was filled and, while this obviously the case everywhere, the people around me all seemed to be LOVING it, and they all seemed to be real Prince fans.
--Thought it was a great mix of good, playful dancing and terrific guitar.
--The volume seemed at a good level to me. The last couple I went to seemed too loud and blown out (especially the Stevie Wonder concert). Mike Phillips sax seemed way too bright, Maceo was mixed better, plus I just enjoy his style of playing more I guess, its funkier.
That's it, I dunno, I wouldn't listen to the complainers too much. You can "rank" Prince shows all you want but basically I've never been to one where I didn't have an awesome time. This was a totally solid show, and you could tell he was in a good mood.
Have fun tonight and tomorrow!

So I'm going back and forth in my mind if I want to write a review of last night's show.
After a few geniuses in the org tried to pound into my head that some guy was going to get on stage and make me want to yell FU** HENDRIX...I found myself thinking FU**PHUNK (figured you wouldn't show), FU*DAVEG (you should commit to not discussing matters while you remain a pothead), and FU**BROWNSTONER (how dare you call me out when you have your head in your ass?)
My brother, who did have the fortune of seeing Jimi Hendrix live and attended last night's show . . . had A LOT to say, and being the youngest of four and he being the oldest of the bunch, I'm used to getting advice, scoldings, and lectures. So here were his words of wisdom for me last night and however one chooses to receive them is fine with me, but I am quoting:
"Look, you have to stop associating with drug abusers because eventually they are going to bring you down so far that you won't be able to get back up. Just like Prince bragged about "real music by real musicians" every fifteen minutes on stage, Jimi Hendrix would see what Prince is doing the way Prince sees what Britney Spears is doing. If people are so caught up in the moment and can't come to grips with reality, you have to let them be in their own delusion and just hope you never become like them. I believe you won't because you truly enjoy living in the moment without letting the moment overwhelm you. It takes a liberated mind to do that, so try your best to protect it."
First off, I personally had a great time, despite some unforeseen obstacles, but I made it to the show, got to see Nikka Costa, for about the 6th time; she happens to be Prince's only opening act that I've paid to see as a headliner, so quite thrilled to see her. Nevertheless, I've seen her do much better. Regardless, unlike the people all around me, I stood during the portion of her performance that I caught and I aprreciated her energy. My brother and his wife said I have "bad taste" in singers if I feel she is a good one. I tried my best to defend Nikka Costa, told them I was seeing her June 23 at the Roxy and hoped they accepted that maybe she wasn't at her best last night. They weren't buying it and dismissed her. Oh well. I still think she's great...
I was happy the sample set was at the beginning, almost as happy as I would have been if it was removed altogether. I see that some of the orgers defend this bs, but I TRULY wonder what THEY are thinking while the man CONSTANTLY BRAGS about "real music." Ah ha...my friends in the org educated me on my personal deficiencies for being a literal person. We're supposed to say things that we don't really mean. I get it. When Prince says "real music," he's only joking, right DaveG?
So as I try to wrap my obviously overmatched brain around this concept: "real music" = "fake music" ...............no no no..................."real music" = "sorta real music" ..............no no no............. "real music" means............okay, I give up. I need DaveG again, or one of his flunkies......
So this concept "real music" which I thought was very refreshing during the The Rainbow Children Tour is starting to confuse me. I know, I know. Again, I REALIZE I'm not as smart as Browngenius, but I'm trying you guys, okay?
So, let me put the "real music" question to the side, because again, us literal people expect literal answers and I strongly doubt one of the Pothead Crew will ever surface to offer a reasonable answer, so I'll brace myself for the traditional: "You're angry." "You're an internet warrior." "FU** REALTOR!"
So as I was enjoying this greater than Jimi Hendrix guitarist last night, who plays "real music" becuase he and his crew are "real musicians," I just sat back and had a good time.
Besides the fog machine being turned up about 20 notches (good one Prince, those pictures really must be pissing you off) and the sound to be a little less than top notch, this time around, I thought the show was very entertaining, but also, choppy. Whoever thinks Prince showed he "knows what he's doing" on stage last night, is as confused as a conservative Black Panther. Prince knew what he was doing before the show, which is why this weekend is practically sold out. He finally gave Every Day People time to buy tickets and make plans to see his show. The theatrics were nice and I was happy for all my female (and male) friends and whomever enjoys watching him take off his shirt and get loose . . . looser than he's been on this 21 Night Stand . . . and for that matter, a lot looser than he's been in a long time. Hopefully, they don't have a problem understanding (I see that maybe orgers do) that for those of us that don't really need that, we definitely don't see it as a fair exchange with actual . . . am I able to say this music?
The concert definitely did not flow properly ,but for first timers, I would expect nothing but positive reviews and since Prince is consistently able to please first time attendees, he should be commended and praised for doing a job well done. There's a lot of specifics that I could complain about per the show, but I don't think it's appropriate, so DON'T misinterpret my questions and concerns about the "real music" concept as complaints. If there's a halfway intelligent orger that could kindly address the concept, that would be great, but since I've met so many of you and I can honestly say I've had great times with each and every one of you that I've met, I'm sure we can discuss in person if Prince fanatics are uncomfortable with "appearing" to be critical of him in this public forum. I understand.
Thank you alfbo and AlwayzNmyHair86 for helping make last night so much fun. And IamFunkay7 you've got a great head on your shoulders and a really positive, yet sensible attitude. GDB, don't allow the bitter taste to stay in your mouth, I fully understand and felt your frustration last night, especially since I personally inconvenienced some people, including an orger because of the ticket situation. However, Prince deserves to end this 21 Night Stand with a bang and I am 100% happy that he'll close this historic run with sold out shows and fans screaming for more. I read the doubts in here about how this 21 Night Stand would fail, it couldn't be done, blah, blah, blah. Well as my Jimi Hendrix fan friends can rest well, because we all saw his place at the top of the list per all-time guitarists is not in jeopardy, neither is Prince's ability to excite, intrigue, stimulate, entertain, and make people fall in love with him over and over again.

Thanks for spending time going through what I posted and for trying to get to the core of what I was expressing, rather than lapse into defensiveness as if I offended someone you know personally. I've often heard about how obsessive and protective some of P's fans can be...how you can't come up in here (figuratively, of course) and talk bad about Mama's baby or something to that effect. I'm not a hater or a critic but I'm not a sycophant either. Expressing an opinion doesn't mean you reject the artist, or disrespect him personally or his craft. It just means that particular creative expression didn't work for you at that moment. With someone like Prince, some of us feel as if we know what he is capable of, either in his recordings or his performances. Last night's show, 5/29 bore little resemblance to Friday's. Am I protesting? Did I ask for a refund? Am I ungrateful, selfish, rude or any other pejorative because I expressed an opinion? Not at all...in fact, as a creative artist no one could be any harder on Prince than he probably is on himself. And I don't know if he would welcome hearing criticism but I would think he would be either bored or put off with blind lemming-like allegiance to anything he says, does or believes.
We haven't met in person yet but believe me, I am happy that you enjoyed the show and had a great time. You might understand that the sexy, titillating Prince with the unbuttoned shirt didn't do it for me quite as much as it did for you and the rest of the ladies out there... I agree with you, the skates were weak and beneath P AND the Twinz. I've been on the floor and I enjoy the view from the mid-to upper loge much better. I was in Loge 1 last night in a direct line with the arrow, dead center...and it was awesome to see the light show along with the syncopated stage lights...also the Twinz worked better for me than usual because of the manner in which their movements framed Prince center stage. Although it's in the round, this stage is still directed towards the side of the arena facing the center line and works best from that angle IMO.
I'm not so saturated by seeing multiple shows during this residency that I didn't enjoy the HELL out of Saturday night. Mary J. Blige turned it out and almost made you forget you were there to see Prince. She OWNED that stage and the crowd during her show. I knew Prince was going to have a good night. He always does when he's inspired and motivated by a strong guest. And I can't say that I've seen him have two nights in a row that I considered to be "off." As I posted, by the time he was jamming with Maceo he just got RUDE with that funk and I hope that people in attendance didn't take that for granted. Maceo Parker is part of pop music history; he's an icon. Prince stopped doing the "show" for a while and just played...THAT is what he is capable of doing when he's inspired. He can take you somewhere and make you forget all about where you are and what you have to do tomorrow. Last night was beautiful.
Except for the karoake at the beginning...LOL I just want him to open JUST ONCE with "Doves" without the sampling keyboard...with his guitar and JB on the skins...just once perform that song in its entirety...can you imagine how the crowd would LOSE IT?
Maybe next tour...thanks Antoinet, let's talk/dish more.

It's a hard thang being a Prince fan! We gotta forgive a lot, but the music and (sometimes) performances tend to make it for it. I'm glad u were at the Saturday show after being so disappointed in Friday. It sounded AH-MAZING. I would've liked to be there last night but I did enjoy my break yesterday. Mary J. is major and had to be the best opener. I missed a good one. Awesome that Maceo brought it and layed it down! Truly a memorable, magical moment. "Prince stopped doing the "show" for a while and just played...THAT is what he is capable of doing when he's inspired. He can take you somewhere and make you forget all about where you are and what you have to do tomorrow. Last night was beautiful." AMEN, Man, I LOVE to see Prince get lost in it. I mean really lost in it, not the "look at me I'm lost in it" he "shows" (like u say above) for effect sometimes. Those are magical moments and those are the ones that keep me coming back and make him my #1 for all time. Can't help it. (Not to mention the unbuttoned shirt moments!!! ) I think Doves would kill it yes. Earlier in the run I felt like he avoided Doves and others because he might not be confident in his falsetto but then he proved me wrong when his falsetto killed some nights in this run. The falsetto is in fine form for Doves so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you 2nite (but I think it's a long shot! As I'm sure you'd agree ) I think we all have the opener we would LOVE to hear and I can think of many but DMSR pretty much does it for me and man it ruled at HOB 7pm show. Niiice. Good chatting with you. Glad Saturday was head over heels over Friday for you. NOW TONIGHT!!! CLOSING NIGHT!!!! COME ON PRINCE BRIIIIIIIIIINGGG IIIIITTTTT LIKE WE KNOW YOU CAN.

Did anyone see the older black actor that was in the audience? They showed him briefly on the big screens towards the end of the show and he was also at the after party with his family - wearing a suit/tie/fedora, pretty tall guy.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out his name!!
