"Thank U, Goodnight" Please Don't Leave!!!!

I just don't understand why Prince says this during his concerts. It is so misleading to any new comer and even some of his fans. I have seen plenty of people clear out only to miss out on so much more music. I don't leave until I see the the lighting guys come down or security makes me leave.

He's not saying Goodnight, but rather...

Good Night

as in describing the show in some way only known to him

I have heard him numerous times say, "Thank u, goodnight". At which point people begin to leave. I have several family members and friends going to the Fresno show tomorrow night and they all know not to leave!

Do not leave until the camera guys leave even if the house lights are on that's what I go by at the Forum

if you don't understand the concept of encores, maybe you have never been to a rock show before?

If people are so anxious to leave before the possibility of an encore, maybe they deserve to miss some of the concert...

I feel sorry for the folks in front of me who left right after Purple Rain on 5/13... and missed seeing Stevie Wonder do Superstition, Uptight, & You Haven't Done Nothing with Prince on guitar and bass...

True, however 90 percent of bands signal "show over" by turning on the house lights. Pretty understandable people would leave.

I think Prince likes to say "goodnight" prematurely as part of the act - same way James Brown would keep coming back to the stage a bunch of times.

Maybe they just thought the show sucked balls and that was their reason for leaving.

The last show I went to, we got a "thank you, goodnight," house lights up, camera guys down, screens off and Prince came back for one more song.
