Is old Prince slowly coming back?

Is it just me or are we seeing hints of the old prince coming back? I have watched the fall of the nasty man live over the 30 years or so, from nasty genius to converted cuss free witness. And like others often feel some freedom or edge was missing when it totally went. But he for sure said $hit on Thursday(which sounds ridiculous I know) and truly looked like he wanted to just get off when he talked about being in rehab during darling Nikki. I've seen him say it before but this time, and just his overall energy lately seems honest raw and fresh.

Here is to the hopes he lets it go some again and it bleeds into the music.

PS sorry thought this was posting to main forum please move if needed.

No. Setlist is too boring sometimes.

When did he swear on Thursday, was it live or on tv?

I don't think you're ever gonna see "Head" era Nasty Prince again.

Energy for this latest round of shows is great, but I thought it was great during Musicology too.

I think so. I've seen flashes of it... the snake scraw across the floor, humping the piano, singing songs like The One, Insatiable, Scandalous... the description of that new song "When She Comes"... Like that line in "My Name Is Prince," he's got two sides, and they're both friends...

I do think he is relaxing in terms of his fundamentalists adherence to the rules of his church. I am quite frankly amazed that he has stuck with it this long.

I would neither be surprised if he never plays Head again or if he were to open with it next week at the Forum.

It was live - I think it genuinely just slipped out. If he noticed it himself, he didn't let on.

I've sometimes made references to 'the old Prince', but I think probably more apt is just the idea of a 'next phase'; ie. not necessarily going back to his old ways, as such, but as someone said, just getting more relaxed and not so fixed into religious rules and structure.

Who knows what we'll see next?!

But no doubt the transition is definitely a very slow one...

Oh, I'd love to believe that. Honestly, he's not as "clean" as I expected him to be on this tour, what with all the slithering, shirt popping and microphone caressing. Don't forget he romanced that audience member with his guitar a few Fridays ago, too. And have we heard any of the spiritual stuff? No. If he's still belting "I wanna do you after school like some homework," he can't be that far off from singing about girls masturbating with magazines. Right?

I hope P stops suppressing his inner freak so we can hear some of my personal favorites! lol

See the thread about the May 19 show in San Jose. Before he started playing Raspberry Beret he said, 'We can't play that shit!' He was joking that it was too old school and no one in the audience would know it.

Yeah, right. Dream on...
In the sampler set he will have taken his finger off the keyboard for a long while after only the into of 'Darling Nikki has made the crowd chear/roar...

I.o.w.: he won't even get close to the lyrics.

Same for 'Nasty Girl'.

He wrote that stuff but he doesn't believe in it anymore.
