Am I the only 1 on here really not arsed about this gig. I was totally into the whole 21 nights in London but watching how the LA gigs are petering out into farce i.e. crap promotion, evidently poor ticket sales [his golden egg has finally hatched!!], cancelled gigs at the last minute has really put me off. Also the thought of the location [middle of bloody nowhere], stuck in a field, more than likley crap weather, ball ache of a late gig+getting back and the chance of a cancellation all leads me to think to that I too much of an old bastard for this one!!. Also the though of LG as support + the hits again!!.

So, am I an old misery or am i in good company!!.confused

Nope..I ain't bothering either smile

You aren't alone!

I'm not going, the prospect of seeing Prince live in 2011 just does not interest me.

I'm spending my money on other gigs down south this year.

First up, Badu at Brixton in July.........Woohoo!!!!

I wasn't gonna go, been dithering over it for several days, but after talking my best mate into going, who's not even a fan, but loves the whole festival experience, camping etc, I finally bought tickets today. We bought the Sunday camping option as well.

I'm really looking forward to it now not even so much for the gig as I fully expect another greatest hits kinda set but cos my mate's coming. Also I figure its been 4 years since he played the UK and if this really does turn out to be his only UK gig this year, going on the pattern of the last 10 years he may not come back for another 4 or 5 years so I think that justifies my spending the money and going.

On a side note, is anyone else pissed off with the ridiculously high additional booking/credit card fees? I mean £8.40 fee per person plus £5.25 uk postal charge is criminal! Even if you print your own ticket they want £2 per ticket!!! Scandalous!!!

I'm giving it a miss. I can't be bothered with festivals as the sound's usually shit and it's too much for what it is. I really am surprised that he's not bothered doing Glastonbury instead. I seriously doubt that there's more of a pay packet from Vince Power, knowing what a devious tight arse he can be.

I have seen Prince many times, when he was at his best (imo).

My priority is in seeing artists who are currently making great music, and in going to gigs where I don't get shouted at for two fucking hours by Shebly.

wink

Have a good time. I know I will.

I'll tell you what it is to me: THIS is a website called prince.org, emphasis on the "prince" part. For morons, such as yourself, to "have enough time" to enter, login, and discuss Prince, but whose contribution to the open forum is "seeing Prince does not interest me" clearly is an indication they are in the wrong place. I happen to adore Erykah Badu; she's one of my favorite artists of all-time and ironically, is currently on my facebook page. Personally, I think she's not really in the "making great music" zone of her career, but that's another discussion altogether. The point is: If you want to praise another artist, the appropriate place to do that is in and at the venues dedicated to that particular artist. When someone comes in prince.org and is offering unadulterated negativity, when the purpose of the org is to bring together people from across the world that appreciate his work and are interested in his current activities, I will call them out, if I feel like it...so, I guess I felt like it. It would be great if you continued in Erykah Badu's site and left here.

Realtor - Fair comment but in actual fact DigitalGardener is one of the least haters around here, he's not a Bart Van Hemelen character. DigGardener is the one who brought everyone's attention to the 1984 Bday soundboard.

I can see his point about Shelby but I don't agree with him about Badu but he is just expressing a preference, he is not hating on Prince IMO. He's just one of these old timers who has seen him at his peak so guess he doesn't want anything to spoil it.

DigGardener - whatever u do don't leave the org, your knowledge and connections are too valuable!!

I'm torn over the situation. On the one hand, it's an opportunity to see him for the first time since the O2, on the other there are a number of alarm bells ringing.

Firstly, I lost money on Croke Park, as I'm sure others did. There is always the chance he'll cancel if not enough tickets are sold. Does anyone know what the policy is if the headline act doesn't show up? I expect as it's a festival it will be tough luck, but if someone could tell me otherwise I'd feel more comfortable with it. In addition is the cost, which with booking fees and camping is over £100 for an otherwise unannounced line-up.

So, I'll keep an eye on further announcments and decide if it's worth it with the above considered. I would really hate to miss out if it turns out being one of the greatest performances!

Yeah im thinking the same thing.

Im not intrested in Friday or Saturday (not even a dance tent) and I wont be camping, it would have to be a hotel.

It just doesnt seem real.

Im just going to wait a little while.

It will be great. Don't look at it as a festival. Most of the other weekenders would have gone home and its simply a one day Prince event.

If its sunny, it will be glorious, Arras was great last year. If it rains, a sort of camaradery comes over everyone. I saw SOTT in the pouring rain and it was great! And look at the super bowl. Prince actually performs better in the rain!

I'm going to drive down and drive back same night. Just like the 02.

I think they'd have a hard time not refunding people. Even today no other acts are listed, so it's clear tickets are being sold for Prince. At the moment, if Prince cancels they don't have any acts for Sunday.

RIP sad

I'm not going to this.

I do want to see Prince, i've been a fan since 82 but i've seen him perform at the Indigo for 2 and a half hours, stood 6ft from me for £25. This is 70 quid plus booking fee bollocks plus diesel from Manchester plus massive ballache, it'll fukin rain if I go, i cant get near the front without more ballache, then unless i'm prepared to piss and shit myself all day i cant stay there at the front, then more top ball ache getting back. Inc food and drink, poss BnB too this is a 150 day out to see a dot on stage.

I dont like festivals anyway but I might have gone if it were easier to travel to and less money.

But it is a festival, the Hop Farm Festival title gives it away smile and I wouldn't count on the other weekenders going home, folks who have already purchased tkts to what was, until last Wednesday, a two day festival have the option of upgrading/extending to the 3 days. If it were just Prince fans only I think it would be in danger of being cancelled due to poor tkt sales as the site holds 50,000 plus people. Just my opinion.
