no zzzzzing about it man. I saw him in 92, then 95 (i think, at nynex in manc) and since then have been too poor to see him. Whilst spoilt for boots (audio and vids) I will get to see the man live, the setlist will not matter, nor will who is supporting him - I just hope he shows up, and gives it his all and even if he doesn't him on a bad day is better than most others on their best. shame he couldn't come up north but now I have a trip to plan and all the excitement around that. If I get a ticket like! I'd love to go with a few all dressed as different eras!

Comin str8 outta Preston...

the thought of a night in a tent didnt appeal to my other half so i have booked a hotel at the ramada tunbridge wells...about 6 miles from the site so will try and get taxi there...hotel was only 73 quid ...would have cost 50 pounds to pitch a tent so even if the taxi is 20 quid ....still worth it for a comfy bed...i aint 21 anymore...smile

Not being a prince fan my self (only on here as my gf is) whats it normally like getting tickets for a prince show in the uk? I have many a time in the past go tickets for oasis gigs which has not been a great expereince with websites crashing etc due to demand. Is that something i can expect tomorrow?

I see the capicity is 53k so hopefully that should be plenty?

Ah, a closet Prince fan eh?

Probably going to be tricky as most of the existing ticket holders for the weekend are likely to upgrade for it too.

However we can hope!!!

I reckon they will fill up pretty quick too, any Hotels around 10 miles should be pretty easy to get to the site. They have a taxi drop off and pick up point as well as taxis on site i think to get you home

It will be interesting to see how sales go.

I have phoned around 5 of my mates who all came with me to the O2 in 07 and all of them have passed this time around.

They think £70 is too expensive, especially as its out of the way in a field.

i am hoping for some resonable quality support bands..prince is highly admired within the music world so they wont be short of offers i would imagine ......its an all day thing so i dont think its too expensive....the tent pitch is a rip off....50 quid for a bit of grass for two ?...

Wow your so organise, you've book and planned your stuff already! Nice. I've got too much going on, I'm gonna have to wait until I come back from my holiday in June and see what the London meet up people are doing before I plan anything. But gonna get the ticket before then in case they sells out.

Press release

PRINCE TO HEADLINE HOP FARM MUSIC FESTIVAL SUNDAY 3RD JULY 2011
Embargoed till 09.00 Wednesday 18 May 2011

Global icon PRINCE is confirmed to headline the Hop Farm Music Festival in his only UK show of the year.

I'm glad they have cleared that up so soon. Makes planning a lot easier. See you in the field!

i didn't even notice that bit. what's the bets he adds another show on the monday in a club that's not in the middle of a muddy field where it will be pissing it down like a tropical rainforrest, but without any heat, so we'll be standing getting soaked and freezing whilst prince plays a cover version of a song no-one knows that goes on for about 20 minutes with someone else singing whilst prince has a fag and a cuppa tea backstage where it's dry

Prince joins Eagles and Morrissey as Hop Farm festival headliner

Singer returns to UK for first time since record-breaking residency at O2 arena in 2007

Prince is to headline the Hop Farm Music festival in July. It will be the singer's only UK show of 2011, and comes as a surprise after he had been tipped to play Glastonbury. The other headlining acts at the festival are very different in character, the previously announced Eagles and Morrissey.

It will be the first time Prince has played in the UK since he broke sales records at a 21-date residency at the O2 arena in 2007. He will top the bill on Sunday 3 July on a newly announced third day of the festival (supporting acts are to be confirmed).

Vince Power, the festival organiser, told the Guardian he had been negotiating the deal for six months and felt "humbled" to have pulled it off. "Prince is one of the biggest artists in the world," he added, "so to get him to the Hop Farm is incredible."

Power said that "you can't dicate terms to any artist" but suggested Prince would play a liberal selection of his greatest hits, in keeping with the setlists for the singer's ongoing US tour. Asked which of the three headling acts at the festival were closest to his own tastes, the promoter demurred, insisting: "I can't possibly say that – come on!"Other acts scheduled to play the first two days include Iggy and the Stooges, Bryan Ferry, Lou Reed, Brandon Flowers and Patti Smith. The event prides itself on its "no sponsorship, no branding" ethos.

Tickets for the two previously announced days are already on sale, while tickets for the third day will be available from Thursday 19 May.

The Hop Farm Music festival runs from Friday 1 July to Sunday 3 July.

it makes it sound like prince and morrissey are going to have some kinda jam session together. somehow i can't imagine prince doing his best johnny marr impressions in a 3 way guitar duel with don henley and joe walsh with morrissey moaning about his girlfriend being in a coma (even though he's gay), but then i never expected prince to cover creep and then radiohead cover lotusflower, so anything can happen

Yeah I remember that in Arras. If we had known we wouldn't of book a hotel and gone straight back to Lille where we end up staying a night there anyway, its nice there. I can't see british rail doing anything for Prince, but the area of hop farm might put on a special bus service back to London etc, but don't hold your breathe on that!

Well, they do have special late night trains at 23:50 both on friday and saturday... so maybe they will have some on sunday as well... and if not, first train back to London will leave at 5:40... that's doable without a hotel!

They do have extra trains for friday and saturday... what makes you think that that can't be possible for sunday? But then again... you're not the most logical thinker... so I shouldn't be surprised.

From their website:

You can book your train tickets, on the Southeastern website or at the station. As with most normal return tickets you will be able to return on any service, including the extra late trains that will be running specially for the festval.

The last trains from Paddock Wood to London are:

FRI 1 JUL
2350 and 0050

SAT 2 JUL
2350 and 0050

Who's to say that they won't add Sunday too... now that it is a 3 day festival??

Prince to headline Hop Farm Music Festival

Wednesday, May 18 2011, 09:14 BST
By Lewis Corner, Music Reporter
Prince

© Rex Features

Prince has been announced as the final headline act for this year's Hop Farm Music Festival.

The reorganised three-day event will take place at Paddock Wood, Kent between July 1 and 3, and will include previously-confirmed headline acts Morrissey and The Eagles.

"I am really excited about having Prince at the Hop Farm, we have worked hard to get the third day up and running and we hope that fans will appreciate the integrity of the bill and see it's one of the most musically exciting this year that stands head and shoulders above a lot of other festivals," said festival organiser Vince Power.

It will be the first UK performance from Prince since his record-breaking 21-date residency at London's O2 arena back in 2007.

Tickets for the third day will go on sale at 9am on May 19, with current two-day ticket holders able to upgrade their tickets for just £40.

Further acts confirmed to play the music event include The Human League, Bryan Ferry, Carl Barât, Noisettes and the Guillemots, among many others.

Supporting acts for Sunday's lineup will be confirmed shortly.
