It doesnt look good, but great for those that love seeing him.
But it dosent matter to Prince as he will still get the same money, it's the Promoter that takes the hit.

I think the lower prices have allowed more people to go to the concerts, some multiple times--that's not a bad thing.
It certainly appears there is interest as each show seems to be well attended. Prince has performed 8-9 times to large audiences, in a relatively short timeframe and that's certainly not a bad thing.
I think there are economic factors, timing issues, scalper issues and many other unknowns (not necessarily bad) as to why the ticket prices were lowered; of course this is a whoo hoo for the consumer!
Anyone whose seen any of the shows has not made one single poor review.
The performers seem to be having a blast and the shows I've seen have been packed and full of energy--which has its own benefit.
I'd say its been positive. (btw, I'd be happy to get a lowered-priced tickets in the VIP section!)

When you're doing 21 nights in an arena it's best not to expect you're gonna sell em all out at top prices.
I'm thinking this is an experiment to help Live Nation come up with strategies for "dynamic pricing". IE, if you lower prices to $10 at 5pm, will that bring people to the door? They've already tried jacking up the prices to the sky and playing small venues. So what else could work?
The first few shows there a kind of VIP gap - they were offerring tables for $750 hoping to bring in high rollers. Those have not sold at those prices & the new shows don't offer them at all.
Although it's unusual, and maybe it doesn't let you talk about how many sold-out shows in a row you had, it is DEFINITELY fan friendly to play for $25, and as long as he & the band are happy, I don't see a downside. He's all over the news again, and word of mouth has been great. I'm just happy he's doing it in my town.

When The Lakers lose that last game, I bet attendance will pick up some.

L.A. is the place 2 be right now... but all over the news ? i don´t know about that..

Most people I talk to about it have at least heard that he is doing this... which is impressive considering he's hardly spent a dime on advertising.

I agree. At the current 0-3 streak for the Lakers, it shouldn't take much longer. "You need to laydown and let me show you how we do this thing up in funky town. From the heart of Minnesota here come the purple Yoda guaranteed to bring the dirty new sound! Come on, now!"

I have been to three of these shows so far, last Thursday was probably the most empty I have seen it out of the three nights, last Saturday was packed! and last night I saw many of the colonnade seats empty. Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

This is definitely an experiment. They've been adjusting the prices and pricing plans from show to show (non-VIP floor seats have become Purple Pit, $200 seats sell for $50 and $25 within hours of the show...). And, in the end, the floor and Loge levels are almost always packed, with the Collonades filling up on Saturdays. That's not bad for three shows a week for four weeks in a row (so far). Very few artists could pull that off, even at $25 for a majority of the tickets.
Hell, it's convinced me to go to 4 shows and shell out $12 per cup of Shock Top. Conclusion: if the Loges ever look sparse on a Saturday, he's in trouble. Otherwise, he's kicking ass.

Hmmmm. Let me think...I'd much rather pay $250 than $25. How could anyone do this to me? Go and see Prince 3-4 times for the price of one ticket - no, I'd rather see him once for the price of 3 or 4 tickets. VIP seats are going for reduced prices? I'd rather spend at least $750 for a VIP or else I won't feel like a VIP. Sold out shows? Yeah, I'd much rather drive to the Forum and be turned away as opposed to being able to get a ticket from the box office. It's gotta be negative for Prince; I saw him crying on the stage. He must be upset about all the things you inquire about.

I'm looking on Ticketmaster right now at last minute seats for tonight... & the only seats being sold at all are VIPs for $350. That's kind of a first.
Glad I got my tix already. [Edited 5/7/11 18:46pm]

It's a great thing!
Last time he performed in Arnhem I couldn't go, just didn't have a dime to spend.
So, no his concert is accesable for everybody, not only the ones with money. And, it's affordable for a family to go and see him together.
I think it's great, and as long as P is having a good time, and his concert is available for all his fans because of affordable tickets pricing, what is possibly negative about that? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Call Ticketmaster directly & speak to a person.... They have a better selection than the online, automated service.... & The Box office usually has the sweet seats, if you're willing to risk it.

For what it's worth for tonights show: I was on the phone with ticketmaster and the box office this evening at 6:45-7:30, they were offering some of the purple sections for $50+fees, and nothing in $25 range for 2 tickets. Didn't try for single seats. They are able to check in specific sections over the phone, unlike the "random draw" on ticketmasters site. [Edited 5/7/11 20:08pm]
