Prince to headline Open’er Festival

„July 2 2011 is the exact 10th anniversary of the first Open'er performance. We were trying really hard to make that evening really special. A few months ago, our friend, the agent to many globally renowned artists, said: „If he performs at this festival, I’ll believe in miracles” – and he will have to believe that, this evening will go down in history. Ladies and gentlemen, one of the world’s greatest musical geniuses, and yet, a great challenge to every promoter in the world. For the first time in that part of Europe, in the first yet announced concert outside the United States, renowned for his extremely original and individual approach to the rules of global music market, exquisite and unbelievable, one of the most creative and influential musicians of many decades, “the one and only” – PRINCE”

NME have also reported the story on their website. I personally won't be booking a trip to Poland though. As much as I'd love to see him he has been a little erm... unreliable lately when it comes to events such as this. Remember that the small print on a ticket usually states that the line-up is "subject to change" etc, especially at festivals, so if Prince pulls out of the gig you'll probably not get a refund.

I sound such a pessimist, I know. I just prefer to be a little more cautious nowadays.

Shoot! I'm in Copenhagen for the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in that week...

Maybe Prince is hitting the European scene hoping to catch some of the jazz festivals in between the stadium concerts. One can only hope...!

Well although I've been disappointed in the past with Croke park. I had a great time at Roskilde last year and its only costing me 74 quid for me and my missus and I've never been to Poland, so heeeeere we go. Anyone else gonna go for this?

Hi ! As I understand it Irishwolfhound's Polish cousin, PolishHamsterFace is going to every one of the 21 Nites In Warsaw. He knows the head of security and apparently they do a great pint of Guinness in this great Irish bar called O'Polska on the high street lol

Ye man. Booked the tickets but just got to look at how we're going to get there. Likelihood being that we'll catch a flight, but we're going to go for the 1st to 3rd and obviously do this on the 2nd. Let us know if you go though

well, it seems real to me, finally, after so many predictions he would drag his ass over here to Poland one day...

Open'er Festival is becoming a big event here in Poland, make sure to book your hotel in advance (either in Gdansk, Gdynia or Sopot, doesn't make a difference which city, all three are called Triple City, though for a sea resort you would rather choose Sopot, for city fun - Gdansk), it won't be easy since EVERYBODY is going to the festival in this country...

This year it will be also myself... times are a changing...

besides, for all European football fans, it's a nice "rehearsal" for EURO 2012 where Gdansk is also a host city...

see you there purple people... smile
