Thursday and Friday in LA - what to do?

Does anyone want to join me in LA on Thursday afternoon or Friday? I'm staying in Inglewood but wanna go to the beach and see the ocean and the sun. Thought some other orgers might want to as well - especially those of us coming from Minnesota where it's still almost winter.

You're staying in Inglewood? Are you staying with friends and family or just getting a hotel? Unfortunately, there's not much to do in Inglewood. You might be better off getting a hotel closer to the beach or further north near Hollywood.

You could stay at a hotel near LAX and go to Manhattan or Redondo Beach which is very close to the airport.

I used to stay on Westchester/Inglewood/Culver City corner. Google these places! Here's my list:

Santa Monica Mall and 3rd Street Promenade off 4th and 3rd streets in Santa Monica

Venice/Marina del Rey beach area..lots of eateries, coffee shops, and electic shops; also can rent bikes in Chace Park at the Marina del Rey beach very cheap.

Westfield Fox Hills Mall on Sepulveda in Inglewood

In and Out @ LAX on Sepuveda where u can watch the planes fly in

Redondo Beach...very pretty!

Washington Blvd area near Sony Studios in Culver City....lots of eateries, coffee shops

Roscoes Chicken and Waffles (on Pico Blvd, in NoHo, and in Pasadena)

If you really wanna venture out more, here's a few spots in the Valley and H'wood:

Chinese Mann Theatre, Hollywood Walk of Fame in Hollywood

Warner Bros Studios and Disney Studios in Burbank

Universal Studios in Universal City just above the Hollywood Hills

Colorado Ave in Pasadena (lots of shops, restaurants, etc.)

Please be careful of WHERE YOU PARK in LA!! Watch for Parking signs for times/days and digital parking meters which can go up or down depending on demand in that area. If possible, use public parking garages.

You MUST have lunch or dinner at Versailles on Venice/Motor Avenues in Culver City/Palms if you are coming to Los Angeles. It is the best Cuban food on the planet! Anything on the menu is good - but if you want a recommendation get the garlic chicken - that's what they are famous for...you shall not be disappointed if you do. Fabulous and relatively inexpensive. Also, for breakfast check out Nick's Diner on the corner of Pico and La Cienega.

Take a drive up PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) late morning early afternoon. Miles and miles and miles of beaches and tight cribs and mountains. It'll take your breath away if your coming from Minnesota.

Just take the 10 Freeway to Santa Monica and it'll sort of turn into PCH going first through Santa Monica and then Pacific Palisades and then Malibu. You can stop anywhere along PCH and hang out at the beaches. You might have to pay a small amount of $ to park your car, or you might not, depending.

If you don't have a car, you should be able to get a bus to the beach. Playa Del Rey is close from Inglewood. Ask for directions at the hotel.

There's an excellent vegetarian/vegan restaurant in Inglewood. Not so great area, but the food is fabulous:

I'm curious, have you ever had El Rincon Criollo? http://www.yelp.com/biz/e...ulver-city

I've had both and am a little more partial to El Rincon. Don't get me wrong, Versailles was great, I just rank El Rincon a little higher based on little things that I liked more about their seasoning/spices. With that said, I've had different things on each menu. Salmon-based dishes at Rincon and Chicken-based dishes at Versailles, so it isn't an entirely fair comparison.

I grew up in Miami and live in the Bay (where Cuban is much harder to come by), so I always love grabbing Cuban food in L.A.

Do you have any other Cuban recommendations in So Cal?
