So this is what I found, if you leave from the bay area on the 10 pm train you get to LA next morning about 10 am.

Pick up a vehicle $13/day (or not), hang at Santa Monica or Venice beach until your hotel is ready (usually 3 pm if you don't request early check-in, sometimes noon). Go to hotel, rest, shower, dress and take cab or car to Forum.

Spend the night in your hotel room after concert.

Next day you have pretty much a full day in LA. Go to the Beach, Hollywood Blvd., Rodeo Drive or Sunset Blvd., check out the sights.

That evening, catch the 7 pm train and get back to Bay Area at about 6 am the next morning.

Depending on what day you go, you'll either have a day or two of rest at home or get back to the Bay Area in time to go home, shower, change and get to work by 8 a.m.

Voila!
