Thank you for posting this. I tried Ticketmaster again and I was able to get 2 risers for $25. I thought tonights show was so much better, plus he played my favorite Prince song - ADORE. Lay back in my tenderness... Stay with me... Don't you go nowhere...

Chaka Khan's opening set was an unexpected treat of hits. She did this cute dip with her hips as she danced on stage. I think her gyrating may have influenced Prince. His covered cheeks filled the big screens in close up later for some naughty backside moves of his own.
The waits between encores were really short. Hollywood Swingers morphed into “Inglewood City/Swingers” was a nice touch. Sheila, Prince and his band walked through the floor after the last encore.
I think it was Brown Telecaster all night except for his bass duet with Larry Graham. Prince requested the lights off while he played bass. Not sure why he was hiding it from us when he's pictured with it all over the merchandise. Maybe he has special plans for it later in the 21 night stand? Is he planning to play some of Stevie's funky bass lines in May for the rumored future lineup? I'd love to hear Stevie on Hohner Clavinet with Prince on guitar for only $25.
I was pretty high up, but with binoculars I am guessing on his crescent pedal board was:
starting prince left blue boss pitch shifter or blues driver purple boss flanger white boss digital delay black boss metal zone or brown octave orange boss overdrive or turbo distortion a blue boss vibrato might be hiding in there too central rackmount foot controller or just a power supply white crybaby bass wah pedal red digitech whammy used pretty nicely on Sometimes it snows in April and finally Prince right a blue line6 modulation pedal stomped on I think for phaser Not sure what the real order of the chain was but this was how they were layed out on the floor
this is what he used on stage in 2010 http://funksheet.blogspot...board.html
Great show, but I don't think the Forum can keep up with the cleaning. The floors even pre-show were as sticky as a college beer pong garage. Bacon wrapped dog keeping me up to write this post. [Edited 4/24/11 4:24am] [Edited 4/24/11 11:47am]

Purely AMAZING! Sang all the songs I wanted and then some. I loved the whole show of course, Row 2 Section E was perfect. He's timeless, his dancing made me shiver. I think my favorite was the FIRST encore when he was on the piano. Sheila E is GORGEOUS and ROCKED!!!!!

That wasn't a cute lil dip. Chaka dropped it like it was hot all the way 2 the floor...lol & with no problem & ease. She been practicing that on someone & put this dude in my section in heaven lol. Her voice is stronger and has not aged one bit, she reaches notes unheard of by anyone.. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Thanks for posting the vid. An awesome tribute to his old "rival." With age comes (or should come) wisdom.
Seeing and hearing all of the good reports from the first few 21 Nights shows has got me itching to see him again. If he gets to the Midwest, I'm there.

I just got back from the airport from my trip to LA. I have seen Prince many times but last night was incredible! We were in loge 8 which is right above the area where the piano is located. Prince spent a great deal of time in that area so our seats were great. There were a lot of people coming to our section trying to get photos of him. He seemed to be loving the crowd and they were loving him. I loved Chaka Khan and I am from Northern Cali so I like Larry Graham. I remember Larry Graham doing a concert for my high school back in the day! It was great to see him playing with Larry and loving it.
I have to say that Sheila E killed it! She still has it and the chemistry with everyone is great.
I loved the version of Little Red Corvette. That was hot! I hope there are some photos out there. He looked good in the sleeveless outfit that he came back in for the encore.
I wish I lived in LA because I would go again. I was hoping he would play Shhh but it was still a great show. He and the crowd were definitely in the party mood!
The only downer was the aroma of 420 at the show. I definitely wasn't expecting that and to see people smoking it a few rows down from us.

It's hard to speculate on the show that I missed ( I went 4/14, 4/21, 4/23) but I had much different personal experiences at each one that I attended. You are asking between 4/21 and 4/22, right? Based on what I've been told by people that attended both, they liked 4/21 much more. I probably enjoyed 4/21 a little more than 4/23, but they were both very good.
Unfortunately due to the fact that April 14th's performance was so captivating, the other two I went to aren't that memorable for me. April 14th, after seeing him perform for the 73rd time, I FINALLY understood that the setlists are meaningless. On that night, we got to witness Prince play music "in the moment." Because of the passion in which he played, he inspired ME to hear music differently. I know this might not make sense for most, but it's like, I got to learn about Prince that night...and I'm only referring to how musical aspects affect him. I understand his internal battles with boredom, redundancy, creativity, business, originality, and acceptance. I realized that he WANTS us to challenge him, but also that he evolves just like everyone else does, so don't take him for granted. But what I can't get out of my brain is the setlist concept. I realized that he could remove EVERY single song he played April 14th (and 21, 22, 23) and STILL deliver the GREATEST concert of all-time. All these thoughts just kept circling in my head....he could do a show: Alphabet Street, Do Me, Baby, Pink Cashmere, Everlasting Now, God Created Woman, Anna Stesia, Soft and Wet, Lady Cab Driver, I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man, Paisley Park, 17 Days, Elephants and Flowers...etc....and it could be his greatest ever. The reality is: he can play any songs he wants to, but the ONLY variables are HOW he plays them, and as you alluded to, the sound quality of the production. It took me 73 times of seeing him perform to finally "get it." From now on, I really don't care what songs he plays, I just hope he can be as inspiring as he was on April 14th and I guess it's all based on how inspired he is to perform.

Livenation bought out Ticketmaster in 2010 and now they are one. So there is STILL a master (probably only one master) in the ticketing system for concerts and events. ~ formerly ZsaZsaZsu and Technagirl, living in LaLaLand Ba-bey!!

I'll likely share more thoughts soon, but I just wanted to say Sheila E. doing "The Glamorous Life" was an absolute highlight for me last night. I was lucky to catch two Oakland shows and her interaction with Prince was tremendous then, but she seemed particularly on fire during that song last night. The night off did wonders. I was flipping out when she started knocking the drums over. En Fuego! [Edited 4/24/11 18:59pm]
