Why not 21nites in NYC? Well, we had 6 local shows but if it was 21nites for $25 dollars I would have been there. Plus easier on my wallet. 3shows was expensive but then I thought the last time he was on tour here it was for musicology. I hope there's a dvd for these concerts because what he's doing this year is epic.

I'm just glad he's performing in the US period. The last time he toured in the US was 3121.... and I missed that whole thing
Oh and I paid $49 for tickets to see prince in Charleston. Not that bad. They had cheaper tickets then that also. [Edited 4/16/11 22:23pm] This better antonb and PurpleSpirit319

I also would like to see Prince in NYC for 21 nights, and even better with $25.00 tickets. I would go to all 21 shows. I've been only to 2 of his shows when the last time he was in NYC, and I spent lots of money because I bought tickets for me and my 20 y.o daughter who didn't care about Prince, but after going to 2 concerts she also became purple, and she is paying more attention to his music. She was thrilled to learn a lot about Prince not just as a showman, but as a musician with so many talents. We really would like to see Prince back in NYC pretty soon.

beacuse msg is a very busy arena not just with the local sports teams, but wrestling events, other concerts and misc events so booking at the garden would be very tough 2 do 4 21 nights ..the only arena within the nyc 2 even accomodate that could be the nassau collesium
but it would be cooler 2 have a 21 night residency at a smaller venue tho man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

Everything he's done thus far has been based on what the local markets will support, usually on very short notice (my neice got Taylor Swift tickets NINE MONTHS before the show ). To be honest, he may have pushed it a show too far in Oakland, and I'm not sure as many people as expected showed up in the Carolinas either. That may have something to do with the low ticket prices in LA. Also, lets wait and see if all 21 shows actually happen (jus' sayin').
All that being said, it does seem like he could (should) probably hit the North East again. If he does he should definitely throw NYC a bone.

I bet because of all the rules and the unions in NYC there is no way they could do the $25.00 thing in NYC and make it worthwhile. That's also why we didn't get longer shows at MSG, had to be out by 11:00 or pay big time overtime. Just a guess, but that's probably the reason why.

in addition, MSG is finally being upgraded inside and outt, he could always play over at the Prudential Center at Newark, NJ easy access from NYC via NJ Transit, Path and Amtrack and the venue is nice. I wonder who will be the first act to grace the new BK Arena in 2013[Edited 4/17/11 15:51pm] Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. Jay-Z. Pretty safe bet, anyway. And I don't gamble.

Part of the interview with George lopez was cut and they spoke on this topic. Prince wanted to do 21 nights at MSG but they wouldn't allow it. Something about breaking someone elses record. Funkenberry posted it.

What about other arenas, even smaller ones. Why has to be MSG?

Man if Prince came back to New Jersey and New York City again for 21 nights I would be there without a doubt. I went to both concerts one in Jersey and one in NYC Ican't believe what I saw. I had to pinch myself and I went by myself. I acted as if I had had an entourage with me I partied like it was "1999" by myself it was the bomb digity! no doubt.

At that time of year (December) it's pretty booked up everywhere. That's why he had such sporadic dates at MSG. Plus he's playing for large crowds this time out. Maybe we'll see a smaller venue intimate tour in the future. That's too far and buses out in that county basically stop running after 11pm, not to mention waiting forever to catch a train at the Long Island railroad station, and you need transportation to get there too from Nassau Coliseum. I remember travelling there years ago to see concerts, and it's easier if you have a car. Not much around that area either for people, i.e. tourist attractions. Just too desolate an area for a 21 night stay.
It's so much easier if it was at all possible at MSG or at the theatre at MSG, which is a smaller venue attached to MSG. Only has about 5,000 seats, but if he couldn't do 21 nights at the MSG arena, then why not there?
In the 34th street area, we have a major transportation hub below - trains/buses/subway, that make it easy and accessible for people to get there, and the fact that trains/subway stop into Penn station, and hundreds of eateries, plethora of hotels, and other tourist attractions surrounding the area of MSG, it would be easy for concert goers to get around the city.

He should try to do it between July - October before the holiday season starts in November. If not MSG, then the theatre at MSG, which is a smaller venue attached to MSG. I believe it only holds about 5,000 seats, but if not the MSG arena, then he should try booking it there. He could do 10 dates at the Arena, 11 shows at the smaller theatre at MSG. This way he could even out performing at a smaller venue and a larger one [Edited 4/17/11 20:24pm]

I'm gonna repeat myself, but just imagine: 21 nights at the Apollo. Prince and the legendary venue together. Prince gets his star on the walk of fame they have on their sidewalk. All's good with the world.

Ah. That makes me mad. It would have been great if he did 21 Nights in NYC. I went to two MSG shows and I would have loved to go to more. First concert: January 18, 2011 & then February 7, 2011 at MSG. Best concerts of my life.

Me too. I live in NYC and rather see him again in NJ. MSG sucks and the sound quality is bad.

I'm glad to know he had wanted to be in NYC for 21 nights. I agree that Prudential Ctr in NJ would be a good choice if he came back in the summer. Though I'd like a smaller venue, too. Have u had your + sign today?

I have about a 15 minute drive to Prudential. I wouldn't have to do the whole tunnel-commute thing into NYC. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

I dont care where Prince would do 21 nights in NY just want him to do it.I luv the garden n that would be easy for all to get to n ideal, but he could certainly take over any club n sell it out repetedly. The thing w/ a club is tix could be costly n potentially very hard to get since demand will be high to see him in a small venue. The scalpers make it tough for everyone else in nyc so larger venue may be best option. I really fear the idea of the apollo because I think scalpers will have a field day w that- not to say I wouldn't love to see him perform there. I sure miss npgmusicclub days when members/fans got presales and guaranteed decent tixs! While im sure scalpers joined club just to get good seats there was at least a reasonable limit on how many they tixs they could get.

i ahve seen prince in every major arena around nyc/nj , jones beach, pnc, the meadowlands and the garden and each show was heavily attended so it's not like there isnt' a way 2 attend the shows. where this is a will there is a way. and i know some from long island that made it 2 thegarden 4 the shows in december and this year. man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

When the new Barclays Center opens in Brooklyn, New York on September 28,2012, that will be yet another option. I am hoping Prince plays there. Missed him when he made a surprise appearance in Prospect Park in Brooklyn back in 2006 right after a Maceo Parker concert. Twas the night before his Good Morning America appearance with Tamar, Sheila E and the Twins. He also played Butter in nyc after that. Brooklyn loves Prince. Bring it back brother.21 nights sounds C-O-O-L!!
