Sounds awesome! Why did he only play for 1 1/2 hours in New York? Don't get me wrong, it was a great show, but 3 1/2 hours? I feel a little ripped off, I also would have liked 2 EXTRA hours. Fuck. It kind of pisses me off. Why all the love for L.A. and not NY?
What? Shut up. He just got done doing a month long residency. Stop being a brat. |

I think he's starting off his residency with a bang. I think almost four hours of funk is a fitting kickoff for a series that'll last every single day for the better part of a month.
I agree. It was a great night of music! He was in a great mood-even though in my opinion the audience took their good ole time getting into it. I think LA might be a bit jaded. Used to seeing lip synching/choreographed shows and not "the real thing"-real music-real musicians. I was happy to be in town for the show and got to see it AGAIN! Great to see Sheila too!

That show will have been a one-off advert for the stint. He wanted everyone in that building to go out and spread the word. Hope I'm wrong but I doubt he'll do another one like that. Lucky lucky people to have been there. |

Okay, of all of these "songs" he performed, how many were just the first verse, just the chorus, or just a chorus and verse?? To me, if a song was performed, then damn near the entire thing was done, and not just a snippet! So, listing all of these songs may be misleading if all he did was do a quick chorus or verse and then move on. I mean, WTF? Is he now a human sampler?? And don't even get me started on that whole sampler set he does. Sing over a backing track, huh? Nice.
And letting the crowd sing over 50% of the song really doesn't count, either! I paid to hear PRINCE sing his songs, not 10,000 out-of-tune fools! |

This assessment is spot on. The 1st show of his 21 nights in London was also by far the longest of that residency. Homer Simpson: "I call the big one Bitey"!! |

I have been enjoying listening to the show all weekend. This has got to be one of his greatest shows ever. The man is still at the top of his game as a live performer after all these years. And If anyone had lost faith in his ability to arrange his live performances, this show will set you straight. The arrangements are awesome. All but the most minor hints of the Vegas shmaltz are gone. Hopefully for good.

LA crowds r hard 2 please. But Prince showed the audience he still got it. think people were just in shock how gr8 he really is & how good he still looked & moved & sung....It took a while 4 them 2 realize this is an icon & we better give it up 2 him now b4 its 2 late...
Prince still hasn't lost his know am a bad ass attitude. like his comment he made “Many musicians from my day have aged… But stayed the same”
Now that is someone with confidence in themself...... [Edited 4/17/11 19:12pm] will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

I've been listening to the show as well, and I swear he and the band sound as if they're a Prince tribute band themselves. The arrangements are bland, and he sounds half-assed. He really does!
He needs a full-time rhythm guitarist in the band, for one. And no, I'm not talking about himself. |

I don't know if you're referring to the same clip that I'm watching but he's singing When Doves Cry over a loop of the recorded track. I'm not excited about that..I'm just sayin... [Edited 4/19/11 9:44am] |

I was at all 3 of those. A big deal was made about the sound by prince mostly but i have to say it all depended on where you were sitting/standing. Nokia theatre was subpar but the Conga room was great & Club Nokia was great from where I was.
