If the prices are the same, since the forum seats 17,000 or more, and he sells out more than 10 of the 21 nights, I will be shocked. More power to him if he does, but for a 3 hour show, and no medleys, I'd pay for 51 nights until my credit card started to bleed. We all know that won't happen.

(Update below states all shows will not be at the Forum.)

For the shows I saw in the Carolinas...about an hour and a half of Prince singing, and some quite awesome performances...short but sweet...the six I saw were about enough to whet my appetite, though if I lived in LA, I could imagine going to 10 of them maybe.

Springsteen has less than half the talent Prince does, but puts on 3-4 hour shows with no lyrics cut from songs, and no medleys...and Bruce is closer to 62...Prince closer to 53. Bruce of course, will not drop dead if he skipped three meals. Prince still doesn't really eat...and can't play a 3 hour show anymore.

As much as I can find fault with Prince's current state, I'd rather see 10 very good Prince shows than see the greatest Bruce concert ever. Even U2...I'm seeing them 6 times this summer at $55 a show...the greatest pop/rock band ever in my opinion...six shows at $55 each equals $330. My Charlotte ticket was $324 for one show...but that's life as a Prince fan.

What I love about this site, is that I will be torn a new one for my pointing out a few negative things about Prince. I guess the old faithful misread what I write, and think I am Bart Van Halen. What I fail to understand about that guy...is if you don't like anything about Prince anymore, why spend so much time on the message boards?

Guitar, Anotherloverholenyohead, Shh, and Scandalous were enough to keep me happy with the Carolina shows.

Update: From Billboard.com: Prince said. "I'm gonna blast the roof off that place, I promise!" A rep for the singer later clarified to the Los Angeles Times that not all of the dates will be at the Forum, and said detailed will be available soon.

Maybe because he likes and could talk about the first 17 tears of his career??? On top of that, it's a free country! There's way more to talk about on Prince than his latest output, and thank God for that!!!!!!!! The majority of us wouldn't be here if his career started with Emancipation! Guaranteed! lol

The Forum is where I saw my first Prince concert back in 1985, and I've been hooked ever since! I just hope I can scrape together enough money for at least one or two of the 21 nights. Times are tough though!

Ok, be honest. If he played a 3 hour show in Paris...after you subtract all the songs that Shelby sung while Prince was backstage having somebody tell him how great his hair looks....and then you subtract all the songs where Prince sings a verse, and then just dances, and then subtract the songs where he holds the mic for the crowd to sing, then subtract cover songs where Prince almost never sings...then how much did he sing, and yes, I can find my way to some downloads of this 3 hour show he played in Paris to judge for myself.

Prince has been on auto-pilot, and the Portugal show is a great example. It is still a great show, but somebody with Prince's talent should not be only singing for about an hour in a 90 minute show.

Now if you can tell me that you have proof of him playing 3 hour show after 3 hour show, I will say you are lying. Prince has been taking short cuts for quite some time now. I still love him, I still think he is the best, but I'm not going to be fake and kiss his ass. I have the balls to simply give my honest opinion, which a bunch of the "fams" on here do not...and yes, my favorite example, I will not be Bart Van Halen, and simply hate every single move that Prince makes. I happen to love most of his studio work since 1990. It is his live shows that are a roller coaster, and I'm just being honest. Some fans get so worked up and excited, that Prince could simply play a banjo for 30 minutes with no vocals, and their reviews would be like it was the Sign Of the Times film but even better.

he did a 3-hour concert in antwerp last year, only 2 songs sung by shelby. it was an amazing show; he always does 3-hour shows in europe (except for the festivals)

At what venue?

The Gibson Amphitheater Universal City. I had tickets for the 15th, but just sold them. Most of the reviews I've read about her concert have not been favorable and once I heard Prince was coming, I didn't even think twice about it. Check Ebay if you're looking for some decent tickets. That's where I got mine because all of her shows are sold out.

As much as I can find fault with Prince's current state, I'd rather see 10 very good Prince shows than see the greatest Bruce concert ever.

What I love about this site, is that I will be torn a new one for my pointing out a few negative things about Prince.

I have been reading your concert reviews and can see that you are a true Prince fan, because even though you have negative remarks you also always make a point of stating that you think he is the best and you prefer seeing him over other artists, etc. - That's why I do not think you are a hater or anything like that, and I respect your opinion, but mine is quite different and I now have the wish to respond to yours.

Mainly because I think it's too bad that you have this rather negative perception of Prince's shows, in regards to him not being able to play longer shows anymore, as you say. This is where I disagree completely, as I think quite the opposite is the case!

First of all, I witnessed first hand last July that he played an awesome nearly 3-hour show in Vienna, where he was on stage for most of the time and only one or two songs were done by Sheila and the background singers. You often state that Prince does not sing the entire time he is on stage - ".... and then you subtract all the songs where Prince sings a verse, and then just dances ...." - right, but I would say that the dancing is more exhausting than the singing!!

Bruce Springsteen may do 3-4 hour shows and be ten years older, but does he dance on stage?? I don't think so, at least nothing compared to what Prince does. You were at the Carolina shows, so you know that Prince is dancing around all the time, he never stands still for long, is always in motion! And to be able to do that for even "only" 90 minutes (most of the time longer than that) is something that 1) I have the highest respect for, and 2) leads me to think that he must be in great physical shape to have enough energy and strength for that!

I have noticed that the shows in the US are shorter than the ones he did in Europe last year. While 3-hour shows are an exception (and why should we expect those from Prince?), most of the shows in Europe were more than 2 hours long, that's a fact. But it has to be said that he played most shows without any opening acts, so there was more time for him. Whether that has anything to do with the length of his shows I don't know, it is merely an observation. - But the last Oakland show was almost 3 hours and I believe he did not have an opening act for that one, right???

"Prince has been on auto-pilot ..." ... I could not disagree more!! If that were the case, being as awesome as he is in these current shows, I would not want to see what any other artists do on stage when they are on auto-pilot. (And I assume there's more than enough of them who just go through the motions when they are on stage!) To me, Prince seems very lively, spirited, energetic, motivated and enjoying himself on stage!

How you can see that so differently I do not understand, but there you go - everyone has a different perception. You stated yours and I just stated mine as well. wink

And a final thought in regards to you saying "Prince has been taking short cuts for quite some time now" - even if he did, we can still appreciate him doing live shows and, after all, he is still great in concert and a joy to watch!!! In the end, I think, we do agree about the fact that Prince is the best!! biggrin
