Longtime fan, with this being my 10th show or so... Prince was in really fine form in Charlotte; vocally, musically and from a dancing/entertaining perspective. He really hasn't seemed to lose a thing, other than the anger and agenda that used to overshadow lots os shows and tours. He just seems to be enjoying himself and the vibe is great fun.
While I agree that the pacing of the show is odd, and some song selections are poor, I can't complain, because I know he really can't win, as there will always be a mix of casual fans and diehards who will feel they didn't get what they came for.
If I had the cash, I would have been at every show on this stretch, but I will settle for a great overnight with my wife, a tour-hour dance party with several thousand strangers-turned family, and yet another experience seeing the greatest entertainer of our time, still doing completely amazing things on stage.

seem to me with the setlist he tried to keep the show upbeat and in party mode cuz he really didnt do many slow songs other than what exlier i dont get how it seemed rushed just seemed like a party 2 me

Came from Greenville, SC to the Charlotte show. Was glad to see the venue packed. Prince turned it out. Sat in secton 101, row N. Very please with the seat/view. I'm going to the show in Greenville and will be on the floor (VIP ticket). Hope the view is as good if not better (should be for the price). From what I've read thus far regarding the VIP tickets, seems like a hit or miss with regards to the view. Like the comments I've read from most others, I also feel that the Charlotte Observer did not give an accurate review of the show. I felt he performed a good mix of old and new. I felt that the writer doesn't know much about Prince and his music. Reviews in the Columbia and Raleigh papers were positive and on point. I'm looking forward to Monday. Rain is in the forecast. Gonna be some Purple Rain!!!!

Shelbey - I see there are several posts and pictures on your facebook site implying that Prince paid to fly you to the concert in Charlotte, NC, ;supposedly sent a limo for you, and supposedly paid for your hotel. So can you tell the truth about what actually happened?

Anybody who reads these threads knows that I will complain wherever I see fit. Some of the above compliants are on point, however, it was a great show. The best of the 4 Carolina shows so far...Scandalous was not played, which would've put it way over the top...but no problem. To put it in perspective, my 6 U2 shows are all GA Floor seats, and I will be no worse than 15th row at each one. At $55 per ticket, that equals $330. My $324 ticket to see Prince play 1 hr and 50 min or so for one concert will probably be more rewarding than the wonderful U2 concerts. This was my 42nd Prince concert, and it will be 45 after North Charleston. Prince will have a tough time topping this one. Even though I had heard Anotherloverholenyohead on the bootlegs and the tv appearences, it was even better in person.

This was only my first Prince concert so I have no comparison to offer but I'd have to say I agree with all of these points. Yes, I was on the floor and yes, it was not a very good seat. I took my 12 year old son with me and when everyone stood up to dance he couldn't see a single thing but their backs. I told him to stand on his chair but the people behind him cussed him out. I mean CUSSED him out. So, he laid down across the seats (because everyone was standing) and went to sleep. I can hear it years from now "Yeah, my first concert was Prince. My mom took me. I slept on the folding chairs." My seat for tonights concert in Greensboro is on the floor again. Had I thought ahead I would have opted for a few rows up and more toward the center of the stage rather than at the very end of the arrow. Live and learn.
If it were within my power, i would get you and your son unobscured seats for the next show... got to create some better memories for him than sleeping on the chairs at his first concert...

Best audience of the NC shows!!! This audience was really into Prince...which is why I'm surprised we only got 1 encore here. The setlist was very surprising. I may have been the only 1 jumping up and down when he did Elixer!! lol I didn't really care for a few songs did, but that didn't spoil my love for the show because I liked that it was different. Something in the Water!! This show's setlist was a treat for those tired of the same old setlist. And the fans I sat with in upper deck were awesome! We had a great time. Anthony Hamilton was cool too, it was my first time ever hearing him really, so that was a treat. I liked the location of Charlotte's arena too. This was the best performance of Kiss...that extended dance routine was HOT!!! The crowd lost it everytime they showed his azz up close on the screens. My section was about 95% women so we were all going CRAZY when they showed his azz. I mean wow, what a nice azz he still has. And he played it up big time, shaking it like there was no tomorrow! Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I'd take a not-so-hot Prince show over a great U2 show anyday. I got my moneys worth from the show. I didn't mean to sound like I was bitching. That was just the impression I got.

I just wanted to ask everyone that may have happened to have also been at the Raleigh concert if you have any pictures of the people dancing on stage during "Paly that Funky Music"? I was lucky enough to be able to dance with Shelby on stage. I was the girl with the purple leopard print hat and purple boa around her neck. We were not allowed to get on stage unless we put our cell phones in a basket. I would sure love any pictures anybody might have...since nobody believes that I danced on the Prince stage. Thanks.

The funny thing is that somebody apparently thinks they're Prince's mother or something. 3121 is the one who posted the facebook info here, not Shelbey.
I guess Shelbey's under surveillance, Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Someone is over here fishing for more information. Don't tell this fan anything Shelbey! Pay attention because I think "Poetess" is going after you now. You need to watch a few of the new March members Shelbey. I hope you enjoyed the concert.
