I'm sure the show was great. I wonder why he booked so many shows in that area? It seems possible that he will be performing these wonderful shows to half empty arenas. That's a drag. Come on Carolina! Don't ya'll know whats up in the durtay south?

How long did it take between encores?

I'm wondering now if I should stick around at the Greenville show.

It was 15-20 minutes later, and most of the security from the arena had left their areas. The lights had been on the whole time, and it certainly didn't look like there was any chance they were coming back. It was certainly a shock when Prince came back on, and I'd say at least 90% of the people had already left. People were running back down the aisles towards the stage, and people were just cramming in as close as they could get.

What's up are the ticket prices. I was lucky to get some of the cheaper seats for Greensboro. I know a lot of people that would love to go but the ticket prices prevent it. Times are tight for a lot of people (including myself).

Prince is the best show I've been to (Musicology in Raleigh was my 1st) but nearly $200 for 2 tix and they're in the upper level? eek And for a $500 ticket I want him to take me back to Minneapolis to hang out. cool

^ more than likely Prince got some up front cash or at least a guarantee flat amount for doing these shows from the promoters. So in turn, the promoters (Livenation) have to at least try to make sure that they can also make some cash back plus more for a possible profit. Thus, I think they are probably responsible for the higher than what I would call "normal" Prince tix prices.

That's my theory at least.

Last night was . . . just so . . .<sigh> excited I hear what everyone is saying about the setlist being weird and the transition between Chaka and he being . . .weird. . .and running the Paisley Park 80's dorky videos at the beginning. . .and yet, I still had that top of the world feeling as soon as I heard that sexy voice. Had three newbies with me, and they are now totally on fire for Prince. It's such a pleasure getting to experience that FIRST TIME with friends. eek)

Now. . .can we talk about that black tux jacket with sequin lapels, and nothing but a 52 year old WASHBOARD underneath?! eyepop He looked so fine in all that he wore last night.

A very sexy full version of Adore was a highlight for me. And he stroked us long and hard with Purple Rain. I just don't ever get tired of it all. . .even the "so many hits, gonna be here all night" comment. It almost feels like an old friend now after hearing it so many times. Like Pavlov's dogs, it's my signal to start salivating. . . smile

Can't wait to go to Greensboro on Sat! Thanks, Prince. Life is trying right now. I have three kids who all have some serious issues going on, and last night I got to just be me--a screaming, dancing, singing, swooning, smiling, clapping, happy person. Just, thanks.

Ok, herez my take on last night….pardon the “French” here and there plez…

The house was full…not sold out, but definitely packed. The third tier ticket holders got relocated lower…lucky them! I, on the other hand, who paid $200 for my ticket for a lower level seat, got to look at the back of Prince’s videographer’s head and ass the entire evening.

Although the cameraman appeared to have a nice body, I wasn’t there to check out cubs and it wasn’t what I paid for. I drove to the RBC center to purchase my ticket the day after they went on sale and purposely picked the lower level center so I would have a good overall view of the entire stage.

One of my coworkers, who also works RBC events and was there last night, told me RBC has no idea when a ticket is purchased, where changes will have to be made until the artist requests them. So….Prince and whomever sets up your camera….THANKS! (My tone is sarcastic) I REALLY APPRECIATE the obstructed view of EVERYTHING that happened on that side of the stage (My tone is still sarcastic and I am now rolling my eyes). rolleyes

If I had had any inkling that I would be sitting behind a huge camera, I would have bought a much cheaper ticket higher up…what a huge waste of money. It’s too hard to come by, especially being a teacher and a single mom (little tears in my eyes now). Oh well…c’est la vie. cry

On a more positive note, this was definitely the best overall show I have seen Prince do since I’ve been attending his concerts. I never went to the 80s-90s shows when he performed half-naked and ejaculated liquid from his guitar…. So when Prince started unbuttoning his coat and actually took it off down over his shoulders at one point, I was in shock. eek

The camera zoomed in on his body (ass, chest, abs), pelvic thrusting and rhythmic motions….damn camera man in the way. My reaction consisted of laughter, screams, head shakes back and forth and the word “wow.” I wasn’t sure if I was supposed be turned on or offended given Prince’s “conservative” affiliation over the past years. When you grow up listening to an artist who writes about head, cock, cum, fucking the taste out of someone’s mouth etc….and then they “clean it up”, it’s hard to know how you’re supposed to respond. confuse

At any rate, it was Prince. He looked fabulous and had fun doing it. I had fun watching, and it was all good! The theme of the outfits for the night was red, black and SPARKLES….the whole band had some variation of this on. The girls were GORGEOUS with their glittery make-up to the nines and their red/black ensembles.

I honestly have no clue what Renato had on....have only seen him in suits, so to view him in a black, monkish/priest -looking smock robe was interesting….maybe hez studying to enter a religious order, who knoz. Ironically, my favorite Prince outfit was the one he took off…lol! It was black and had huge sparkles all over the lapel……WOW! It was beautiful.

The music was fantastic. Chaka Khan was sparkly, happy and appeared to really enjoy performing. Her lyrics were hard to hear clearly at first, but I think the sound got better as the night progressed. I have read that some people did not like Prince’s choice of order of songs for the evening. For me, it was great as I do not try to listen to music critically.

I LOVED the medly at the beginning because it was like a teaser of what was yet to come. As soon as one song was getting going, Prince would cut it off….made you want more. And when he finally did play the songs, they were GREAT!!! The setlist was better than any I’ve heard live. I think Prince has tapped into what the mainstream crowds wanna hear because the place was rocking all night. nod

FYI -Friend who works RBC told me Prince was lined up to do 3 Encores....

1st one was supposed to be 4 songs....he only did 1 song for some reason and then jetted under the stage. There was a pretty big break til the 2nd one. I guess by the time he was ready, a lot of people had left. Maybe that's why he changed his mind?

I hung out til the very end, cuz I expected it. I wasn't screaming tho....after working all day and dancing all night, I was slightly tired. wink

To be fair to the fans who left b4 the encores....it was WEDNESDAY night in RALEIGH NC.....everybody had to WORK today.

I got home 11:30ish, couldn't sleep cuz I had muzik ringing in my ears and was kinda wound up until 4:00....then worked today...thank goodness off tomorrow! biggrin

Well, from my point of view the show was awesome!! Yet, short in my opinion (but this was only my 1st show and 1st time seeing Princey!). I had excellent lower level seating section 105, Row P, Seat 2 where I was placed right in front of the circle part of the stage and the piano was set on my right on the curly segment of Prince's symbol, so I could see everything.
[img:$uid]http://i66.serv.../img:$uid]
I was satisfied with the seating. Everyone in the nosebleeds got to move downwards and I heard VIP seating was reduced from $500 to $199, so that was great as well. Met up with fellow Orgers too!!! They were non-negative and loads of fun!
[img:$uid]http://i66.serv.../img:$uid]

Chaka was killing it, but I had to leave to search for Prince memorabilia, and alas I found it! The stand full of everything Prince was glowing in a "whaaaaahh" aura. And I bought almost everything. I asked for the posters and the salesperson was like "which one?" and I said, "Both!" as I hurriedly shuffled thru my purse to get my debit card. Sadly though, they did not have the tour books. The tambourine was like $50, and I left to think about purchasing it via sacrificing my meal money for my 16 hour trip back home.
[img:$uid]http://i66.serv.../img:$uid]
The lights went down in the arena while I was still finding my way back to my seat! I cursed and ran to find my section again in the darkness. Luckily, Prince was teasing the roaring crowd with sound affects giving me time to sit my butt down in time for the show. Then he walked onstage in the darkness wearing a black suit with red lining. Everyone, including me, went wild! It was crazy crazy in the house. I stripped right there out my purple blouse ( had a white tank top on underneath ) and put on my newly-bought Welcome 2 America t-shirt!
[img:$uid]http://i66.serv.../img:$uid]

I sung along perfectly and danced wildly, yet on beat, to the songs, while my close-seated neighbors, danced and stayed quiet, only singing the chorus at times. That made me feel bigger than life, that I, an 18 year old, knew every lyric to every song he had sung that night, while the more experienced and older Prince fans were having trouble remembering. I promise I sang every word with my heart and soul, moving and dancing to whatever beat the band threw at us all. I guess I also had a leg up from watching the 20TEN concerts and knowing what and how he would sing the songs. Perfect example was Little Red Corvette. Everyone was clueless to what he was to perform when the lights went red with the music going at a slow beat. But I knew! I told my neighbor, "That's Little Red Corvette!" he just nodded like I didn't know what I was talking about, but then when he started the lyrics, he went crazy, lol. Then he started my favorite Prince-chant of all time from Controversy. That's when EVERYONE was definitely clueless, but I caught on right away and sung it with Prince:

People call me rude
I wish we all were nude
I wish there was no black or white
I wish there were no rules

I swear I was the only one singing that besides hearing a handful of voices closer to the stage also singing it.

But b4 that, when the backup singers were singing Angels, I took the chance to run out and buy that tambourine! I came back with the classic Prince noisemaker just in time to catch the Prince and Chaka duet of Sweet Thing. Such a beautiful song they sing together, I swear.

After a ceremonial Purple Rain, he did kiss, and that was it. I was like "Huh? that's it?" The guy next to me was like "Yeah" and he let me walk up before him. But once I got to the top, I went to the side to get my things together, thinking that Prince would maybe come back onstage and do something. So I went back down to ask one of the camera men to take my picture near the stage. He was kinda reluctant b/c he looked like he was concentrating on something. But he took my camera and I posed. He messed it up and then I told him to take it again. Then he said the unbelievable words, in a casual tone like I had known, "Prince is coming back onstage." I'm like "What?" He said, "Prince is coming back," and he handed me my camera. His background singers came on stage and music started as they waved everyone who was mingling back to the floor. I grabbed all my ish and ran my tail to the floor to be right b the stage! In hindsight, I felt silly for running right past one of his singers who was helping a lady jump over the barrier, but I wanted to get to Prince.

Then he rose from underneath the stage and started to perform DMSR!!! OMG I WAS SOOO PYSCHED!!!! I was right there close to him! Almost 5 feet away I could even see his faint wrinkles. But he was flawless, and almost too gorgeous! I couldn't believe at my 1st concert, I was right there in the sight of Prince. I was dancing and singing along perfectly to the well-known modified lyrics, but took out my camera and started flashing pics and taking video! It was unbelievable and I could never forget that. Way better than getting a tourbook!

Nice story & & u easy on the eyes
