Raleigh

Raleigh, 2004- MUSICOLOGY

After Party:

Prince and the band walked into the club and began hanging out in a small bar area….a few tables/chairs. I can't remember which club but do recall Rhonda, Candy and I think Renato being there...not sure who else. They watched video of the concert on screens up around the room as fans stood for a couple of hours shouting "Prince, Prince, Prince"….obviously wanting him to play. Apparently, he wasn’t feeling it because he never did.

Some girl standing in front of me got sick and was escorted out by her friends. Once they moved, I was directly in front, separated by a barrier (approx. 4.5 ft from floor) and a somewhat see-through curtain hanging from the ceiling. It appeared that security was super tight.

Prince had on a black suit, white shirt, sunglasses and his diamond ear-cuff…left ear. I could see him dance occasionally through the barrier cracks, and yelled, “Shake it Baby” once or twice…lol. At one point, he was directly on the other side of the curtain (3 feet away) staring at the fans. It would have been easy to engage him, but his HUGE bodyguard was a bit intimidating.

I am in SHOCK that Prince is coming south because this definitely “ain’t” New York , London, Paris, Los Vegas or Los Angeles…yes

WELCOME TO RALEIGH, PRINCE and CO….BRING IT!!! XOXO wink

PS- Feel free to bring the NAACP with you. I am an elementary school teacher in Wake County and our School Board needs some INTENSE REDIRECTION regarding their Neighborhood Schools Initiative. eek

I'm sure you would have a great time there nevertheless! biggrin You have the big screens as well to aid you, of course. We all need to wear like "Org" thingies to recognize each other, lol. That would be cool. As well as seeing Prince, I'm also excited to see other Prince-loving people there who may be Quakers or Orgers! So much anticipation!

None of my friends could make it (lame), so I bought my one ticket and will be chilling solo in the VIP! I felt a little weird about it at first, but this is Prince!! I don't care if I have to go alone, I'm going!

And hi everyone!! I'm new to the board, this is my first post.

I'll be nosebleeding as well, but I don't care. I've progressively moved further away from the stage with each concert. Honestly, I like having a view of the whole stage, and with the giant screens you can't miss anything. The atmosphere during this tour has been phenomenal and that's what I'm looking forward to again. Crossing fingers for a few new songs added to the setlist as well.

Whats up? biggrin

Welcome to the Org. I am going solo too, and I'm not that scared anymore because I know I will be amongst other Prince fans! And I'm so excited!

My aunt was supposed to go with me but freaked out at the tix prices. I thought it was cheap, but this is my first concert, so I had no idea. But it doesn't phase me much, it's Prince! biggrin

Well I'm new to attending concerts, so maybe if there's long lines, we could wear something symbolic, i dont know, to symbolize our Org affiliation! biggrin I'm down for before and/or after the show. Maybe meet up once we get inside the stadium at a designated spot, seperate to our respective seats once show starts, and meet up after show ends at same spot to geek over it.

I also know nothing about the Raleigh stadium, I'll have to google to find good meetup spots. Then maybe after concert, we can catch a possible aftershow? How do you even find out about aftershows??? But if that's nonexistant, then grab a bite to eat and chill. Whatever is fine with me. Orgnote to get my email and we could all talk about doing something! biggrin

Cheers!

Me and my friend are all up in the 330. I got my ticket yesterday and I'm in the ultra last back row, got hers today and her seat is better wtf? Ticketmaster is bugging! Is it wrong I hope it isn't sold out and they move folk up lol. That happened to me when I saw Usher, but we moved back because the nosebleeds actually were a better view lol.

Anyway my friend and I are eating before the concert, if anyone wants to meet, holla! Also parking is usually a mess. Afterward, Cary is probably a better bet than Raleigh for eats and meets.

If anyone hears after party news, holla!

Yes, the little Purple one is swinging through the Carolinas on his latest tour! Tickets go on sale March 14th at 10am...
----
Prince has declared a string of Purple days in the Carolinas, bringing his extraordinary Welcome 2 America tour to the South for the first time with the announcement of 6 nights in North and South Carolina and will stop at the RBC Center March 23, 2011.

The announcement comes on the heels of three Oakland, CA shows and six incredible shows in the New York area that wowed fans and critics with his singular stage presence, leaving them screaming for more each and every night. These shows will mark a homecoming for two members of The New Power Generation, drummer John Blackwell and vocalist/tambourine player Shelby Johnson are both from South Carolina.

The New York Daily News raved, "Prince is worthy of all royal accolades...The hit-friendly show had a kinetic confidence and racing pace that spoke of his singular place in pop history," while the New York Times said "It's easy to envision Prince as another Chuck Berry or James Brown, barnstorming for decades to come." The San Francisco Chronicle raved "spinning, strutting and swaying in his towering heels as if no time had passed since the days he dominated MTV with his angular suits and perfectly sculpted hair... neither his fantastic voice nor his dynamic legs showing any signs of slowing down."

They did that in Oakland too... Last minute price reduction. Some people called Ticketmaster to get their seats upgraded, but since your already Purple Circle, IDK..but call and find out what they can do for you! I wouldn't worry about him cancelling...I think Ticketmaster does this for every show (if it is not completely sold out)
