The Village Underground has a great house band. I went there when I was in NYC for the 12/17 and 12/18 Prince concerts. But like others are saying, I bet NYC has an unlimited amount of great places to hear live music. Just my $0.02. |

No problem. Plenty of live music clubs in NYC, 7 nights a week. I added more to the list and it depends on what type of music you like. [Edited 1/9/11 18:09pm] |

Webster Hall is a small place. I went to see British soul singer Duffy there in the fall of 2008. It's more of a small dive bar I guess. (I didn't have a great look inside the place because I was standing in the front row near the stage and w/ hundreds of people squeezed in behind me, I couldn't make out what the entire place looked like. lol) BB Kings is much nicer. I've never went there for the drinks (I don't drink) and the food...just for the entertainment. |

Webster Hall is NOT a small place. You might have been in one of their small rooms in the basement for a tiny show. It's a dive-nightclub. On Halloween they have 3,000 go through their doors.
THE jazz places to go to:
- Village Vanguard (if you like Prince). Distinct set times. Often you can stay for set 2 if you were at set 1. Depends on crowd size.
- Small's (extra tiny, come and go as you please). This is the "secret" jazz venue in the village.
- Blue Note - is famous, pricey, and I enjoy the above 2 places much more. But if you want to see a "cool jazz" performer (Chris Botti plays there for a couple weeks each Decemeber) then you'll love it
Rose's up in the Time Warner Center at Columbus circle is good if you have tons of $$ to drop. |
