Why does Prince need all them [snip - CarrieMpls] on stage with him?

I enjoyed the show in Jersey last week, but I'm sick of all the "add-ons" Prince throws on stage. Those three singers are talented, but they're unnecessary and annoying. The only good addition was Sheila E., duh!

I just don't get Prince's mindset when he brings in talent that so few people care about. Enough with these broads, Larry, Maceo, etc.

Someone advise this man!

They're women with beautiful voices and did a good job, keeping the audience hyped as they worked the stage. The good thing is, they didn't stand in one spot and sing, like they've done at previous shows. It's obvious he's happy with these singers. They don't deserve to be called "b*****s", they're women who deserve to be respected as such, yet your username is "CallmeSir". How ironic of you to ask for respect with that username while not practicing it.

They do have beautiful voices, but they take away from Prince's show. He has too many people involved.

They're not "b*****s" as you stated in your post, and I'm sure you would not like anyone referring to or insulting your mother, daughter or other female relatives in that way. Just remember..it was a female that brought and nutured you into this world, I doubt you'd refer to her as a "b***h".

Freud would have a field day with that username. Along with the derogatory slur, it seems like a desperate attempt to overcompensate for some inadequacy.

I guess home training and respect doesn't come easy for some.

Very disrespectful and unnecessay. Why use that word.

How are they annoying? and why is it unusual for Prince to have backup singers, who are amazing by the way? they do not take away anything from the show anymore than Wally, Jerome and that third guy did for the Parade tour or the three guys for the Nude Tour. I had a blast on Friday with everyone that performed.

I had fun too, but these three just didn't fit. I don't think they added anything but clutter to the stage, good voices or not. The same thing with Maceo. Enough with this guy already.

It was great to have women on stage with musical talent, not just lip syncing model types. Maceo is perhaps the greatest sideman in Funk history.

Kenny G has musical talent also, but does he belong on the stage?

Prince has been making these lame decisions since the late 90's. Even though the Lovesexy band had a lot of people involved, they somehow worked.

This thread is just TOO funny! lol

But anyway, I guess that with such a big stage Prince has gotta have some folks up there with him. And he is trying to put people to work in a bad economy, so there's your answer I suppose. When it gets to be 35 people like James Brown's band, then we have a problem!

I agree.

I don't know if I necessarily have such a problem with the number of people on stage, but the type of people. When Prince had the large crews back in the late 80's, it was kinda cool because they all gelled together evenly. The current mix is like oil on water.

Maybe it's not about what Prince need, but about the band and the chemistry among the musicians. A band member can easily seem misplaced in the eyes of the audience, but be a perfect match in the eyes of the fellow band members. A true musician will understand this. Ignorant fans won't.

We can certainly discuss whether or not you enjoy extra people on stage with Prince or not, but the name-calling is a bit much.

Let's bring this back on topic, folks.

Thanks,
