My Positive Review of 12/29

My high from the Prince concert in NY still has not wore off yet, and no I did not take drugs. Who needs drugs when you have GREAT music! The show was wonderful. Although I was looking for some songs from 20ten and maybe a few from more obscure albums like "The Rainbow Children", I was glad that the concert was a setlist of old classics. My partner came to the concert with me and he is only a casual Prince fan and enjoys the popular stuff.

However, a few bad things did happen at the show that were not Prince's fault. Some Jack Ass who looked like Prince dressed like him and ran out into the audience right after Mint Condition performed and had half the crowd fooled! Some lady sitting behind my partner told him to sit down during the beginning of the show because she was sitting and couldn't see. Honestly unless you are seeing a sympnhony play you are supposed to stand up at concerts. And I'm glad I never had a substance abuse problem because the contact buzz from the pot smoke in my seating section was distracting.

All that aside it was an AWESOME show! As usual it was the most diverse crowd I had ever seen. The setlist included and this is going on memory so forgive me if its wrong!

OMG!!! This sounds like a wonderful show!! I can't believe I decided not to "waste" the money and go all the way back to NY this quickly. Darnit! I would have killed to seen "Do Me Baby" and "I Wanna Be Your Lover!" I love those songs, never thought he'd do them, especially "Do Me Baby." Ok, I'm so going to the Jan. 18th show, don't care how much it cost me! razz

On a side note, I so would NOT have been worried about that lady. I had people sitting down behind me and wanted me to sit down. I just ignored them and danced harder and screamed louder! lol I don't go to a Prince concert to sit down, if they do, then they need to be all the way up in the stands or on the floor in VIP section!

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

This is a bit late but, nah. I wouldn't do it. But that's just me and also because I heard there was a long line in front and no Prince to be found. *Shurg* What do I know about that stuff. I don't even know where that restaurant is.

Maybe it's just me and I kinda know how a Prince concert works (without ever being to one). It's GOT to be obvious that you just don't leave because the man says "Thank you and goodnight." I've always thought even though I haven't been to many concerts - that you do not leave until you see the break down of the equipment or...until everyone else does so you don't have to deal with crowds. I hate leaving dealing with the crowds on the esculator. I'm teling you...I'm WAITING for someone to leave before the first encore. I will be jumpin to their seat in 2 seconds flat! POW!!

I really enjoyed Prince tonight. Mostly fast paced, 1 short break for costume change, and he brought back that sexy that he has been repressing lately. Damn, that is one fine little man. He put on one hell of a show and Janelle Monet has just gained a new fan.

The performance was awesome. Looking at a piece of paper with a list of songs can never define how an artist's performance is at a show not attended. Especially when it's "different fans at every show". Whether the "same old songs" or not really doesn't give a complete outlook on how those songs and his performance was presented to the audience. MSG was on fire last night, and the audience kept begging for more and he gave it to us....willingly.biggrin woot!!

With few exceptions, it wasn't special playlist. He's got so many songs, but he decides to play it safe..for how many years? 3? Every single bootleg is the same. I've seen him in Vienna, it was the coolest gig I've ever been to..but he played those same songs again.

He should do things like in Montreaux - that was cool setlist cool

performance is one thing but in the end it's about the music and that is what attracts people 2 shaking in their seats and get ur toes tapping. ur never ever gonna be able 2 ride in ur car and watch a perfomance ur only gonna hear the music. so i'm with u on wanting the MUSIC 2 change cause someone of his musical category should be able 2 have more than 3 albums focused in concert. prince has made twice the number of albums and more since 1987 and yet he ignores it.

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

well i'm not a sagitarius i'm a scorpion and the setlist is boring and yes i was at both shows in nyc the balance of present 2 past is lost in his equation for years now. now here is a good memory of those 35 and up which i am, when prince used 2 do a tour and it was more present than past ..now that's a good memory!! here is even a better example, avery fisher hall and the palludium concerts prince has done in NYC ..the palladium was nothing but new, avery fisher hall was a mix of seldom heard old stuff with new material ..oh where or where has that prince gone?

People, it is not that serious. You just have to attend several of his concerts;that is the only way you will hear his new and earlier hits. By the way, Prince has Scorpio Rising and they do not like to be told what to do.
