My husband & I are going to the Jan. show & we will be in NY Sat., Sun. & Mon. night. We have never been to NY & we are looking for some suggestions on great places to visit. Anyone know of any interesting bars with live music? We love Prince, Jazz or funk. Please help

This is NYC. There are unlimited choices of entertainment all over the city. Pick up a copy of Village Voice, free paper, has listings of the current live gigs, entertainment, movies times, listings etc.

Agree. You will wear yourself out trying to see too much. My advice:don't sleep til you're back on the plane.

The Village Underground has a great house band. I went there when I was in NYC for the 12/17 and 12/18 Prince concerts. But like others are saying, I bet NYC has an unlimited amount of great places to hear live music. Just my $0.02.

No problem. Plenty of live music clubs in NYC, 7 nights a week. I added more to the list and it depends on what type of music you like.

Webster Hall is a small place. I went to see British soul singer Duffy there in the fall of 2008. It's more of a small dive bar I guess. (I didn't have a great look inside the place because I was standing in the front row near the stage and w/ hundreds of people squeezed in behind me, I couldn't make out what the entire place looked like. lol) BB Kings is much nicer. I've never went there for the drinks (I don't drink) and the food...just for the entertainment.

Great list...my home away from home is the Bitter End. My funk family Days of Wild plays there often, also @ The Red Lion. In fact they are playing on the 20th at the Red Lion. Hmmm

Webster Hall is NOT a small place. You might have been in one of their small rooms in the basement for a tiny show. It's a dive-nightclub. On Halloween they have 3,000 go through their doors.

THE jazz places to go to:
