Dec 29th a double 1st for my son

When my son was born in 2003 (13 years after my youngest daughter) I refused to subject myself to Brahams Lullaby again and picked out musicians that I felt would be soothing for him and enjoyable for me. Alicia Keys, Jil Scott, Fourplay, and of course Prince. Though Prince has a vast music catalog, I decided to stick with the instrumental work...N.E.W.S., Kamasutra, both Madhouse albums...and my son loved it. As he got older I broadened the selection of songs and my son's appreciation of Prince grew. Add in performances at the Grammy's, RRHOF, SNL, BET Awards/Chaka Khan Tribute, Happy Feet, the Super Bowl, Jay Leno, Ellen DeGeneres, and Montreux and his fandom was solidified.

So I should not have been surprised when my 7-year-old son placed on the top of his Christmas Wish List...tickets to see Prince. Of course I got him tickets for the December 29th show(delivered from Santa of course), but to add to it I got him a t-shirt when I attended on the 17th with friends.

Below is a picture of my son after receiving him t-shirt. The picture of him with the ticket was lost when I dropped my camera while he tackled me. While our seats may be in the nose bleed section (I couldn't afford better seats at the time of sale) I have a great feeling that we are going to have a great time and that i will probably enjoy myself more on the 29th than on the 17th because of how he is going to react.

Warning: Years from now, he'll be justifiably disillusioned and bitter when he realizes that your projection of your Prince obsession onto him deprived him of his opportunity to share in his peer group's experience of the full measure of Bieber Fever. no no no!

My son has a deep love of music of all sorts, and don't stop him from enjoying any of it, but Bieber Fever has not infected him.

That's so cute, you are most certainly giving him a gift that he will never forget! This is my first Prince concert too, I'm 28 and have been a fan since I was 5. I'm from Australia so going to a Prince show is not really common place (he toured once in 1992). I'm sure I will be as excited as your little guy is! What a smile he has!

I saw the future... and it was funky.

My son had a fabulous time, from receiving the tickets to get readying to the meet-up to the show. I want to thank everyone at the meet-up for being so nice to my son and me. We had a great time, and he's already looking forward to seeing Prince again. Pray that I hit the lottery tickets so I can tickets for January 18th. biggrin

Here are some pics of us from the night...

It was great getting the chance to meet you Vysyons and your son. The orgers I've meet this month have done a lot to restore my faith in this site as a positive thing. I've met such wonderful people on the 18th and again yesterday night. hug

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

HonestMan13 it was great meeting you too. It was definitely a highlight in both our evening. My son is talking about meeting you almost as much as he is talking about the show itself.

where is the pic of the snowball fight? lol

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
